Never Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen!

Today Roy decided to take Roy Austin with him for a daddy/son day.  I have to admit that it is nice to have one less child in the house...especially since I have a lot to do today around the house.  One of those things is some holiday baking!  So, I was in the kitchen getting ready to whip up The Pioneer Woman's pecan pie, when in walked this little crumb snatcher:

She loves to sit on the counter while I bake or cook, so I plopped her on up and we got started.  Soon, Caroline came in and wanted to help roll out the dough for the pie.  Normally stuff like this stresses me out....kids in the kitchen, flour, rolling pins, little hands grabbing for stuff.  But I know that she'll need to learn and these are the times to teach her, so there we were---me and my two girls.  In the kitchen, baking holiday treats while Christmas music played in the background.  It was nice:)

I had some leftover dough and so Caroline decided to make her own creation---a mini apple pie:

Here is the finished product, about to go into the oven:

While the pies baked and I cleaned the kitchen, I looked into the living room and saw these two reading Christmas books.  Seriously, could this morning get any more "Norman Rockwell-ish"???

The pies finished and I had a happy, little pie baker with her apple pie.  She won't try it until the boys get home later:

Here is the PW's pecan pie.  Yum, Yum, Yum!!!  And yes, it's made from scratch (just thought I'd throw that out there.)

We also made some snickerdoodles, not from scratch (Pillsbury mix and it is Goooo-oood!):
It is noon and the three of us are still in our pajamas, the oven is still on and I think we're going to go whip up another batch of cookies for our Thanksgiving weekend in the mountains.  Here's to more years of baking with my girls!

What a wonderful post Donna! So sweet! I've been trying to take more moments to slow down and cook with Chad too. It takes longer but now and then he rewards me by bringing me a cup of coffee he made himself! Caroline looks so proud! Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your time together in the mountains! Sounds very holidayish and lots to be thankful for!

Sweet Donna! That pecan pie looks so good. I dare you to whip up some home made whip cream to top it.

I'm so glad that your man is home!!!! Enjoy the rest of your day!
