We put everything in piles before we started loading the boxes. We had four boxes to fill...one for each member of our family.
I was shocked at how well RoyBoy did with the boxes, too. He loved helping put the stuff in. He really loved discovering the candy bag!
RoyBoy's box is for a 2 year old boy. Notice the sucker that was in his hand in the above picture is now opened and being eaten. He was one sticky mess afterwards. (Side Note: he has been sick for the past two days and he is now losing his voice. It is so raspy and squeaky!!).
Sweet Caroline with her box for a 4 year old girl. She was so excited about making these boxes. It made my heart smile:)
The good news is, we had bought so much stuff, it wouldn't all fit so we had to add 2 more boxes! So we made 6 boxes total! If you have children (or even if yours are out of the house) make some boxes! They are so much fun to make and a wonderful opportunity to teach your children about giving.
And for your viewing pleasure, here is a cute little video about the shoeboxes with the help of The Veggie Tales:

Good job getting 6 shoeboxes together. Your FIL will be proud! Love the SP video too. Thanks for the reminder about getting our shoeboxes together. We need to get on that.
I'm laughing at that one pic of Royboy with his snaps undone. He's so funny!
The kids school did this at school last week. They love shopping for this and it is such a great project.
Great post! Our play room is still a mess of all of our boxes, toys and filler items. I hope to finish them up this weekend. Go OCC!
We're going to get our boxes together in the next few days, and I think Daddy wants to take them to Boone himself. It will be fun to work with the grandkids here to fill up the boxes. Hey, maybe we can do it at Dawn's house tonight!!!
I loved your post, and the pictures of your little sweethearts doing the boxes. Caroline is sure growing up....and very nicely, I must say. BTW, I was trying to figure out what room you were using....didn't recognize that piece of furniture, so it must be new. See you very soon. ILY
Donna, thank you for sharing photographs of your fun time filling the boxes. Liam's school is having a time of collection of our boxes next week.
Your children are growing up beautifully; inside and out.
Blessings to you this weekend.
Cool Veggie Tales clip! I tell you what. That BGEA has really got some connections, reeeaaaally got some connections!
Sweet post sweetie. Way to get us in the Christmas mood! Love you!
Caroline's class watched this video on Friday before they did the big assembling of the boxes.
Very sweet and I love that your two did not ask for anything when shopping for the boxes - this is big!!
It's so fun to do the boxes and even more special when your kids or the kids you are doing it with (in my case, my niece and nephew) "get it". It's fun taking them shopping to let them pick out the items.
This past Friday night was the first time I was involved in an actual packing party rather than doing them at home myself. We had about 25 people and packed 65 boxes. It was a great time!! Great way to get into the Christmas spirit!
Happy packing everyone!
