I spent $14 and saved $80, and I made friends with a lady who had more coupons than I have ever seen. She gave new meaning to the term "Coupon Queen".
About 1.5 hours later, we visited the HT in Greensboro at Friendly Corners. This is the NICEST HT and grocery store I have ever had the privilege to shop. Seriously, this must be their premier store. It was wonderful and I wish I would have had more time to spend just looking around! Julie, is this the HT where you shop? I would have taken a picture, but my kids were a little on the tired side and the store was buzzing with business.
We hit one more HT once we got home, but the numbers aren't too impressive because I needed to buy some necessities for us, as well. But, all in all, I spent $40 at HT today--including diapers, 19 cans of Campbell's soups, free bread, lots of cake and muffin mixes, baking supplies, toothpaste, etc-- and saved a whopping $160+! I'm happy. Oh, and gas today was $1.97!! Cheap groceries and gas...maybe change IS coming to our country?!

You are in inspiration! I am at a loss for any more to convey.
Oh Donna- you are so wonderful!! Returning to the CLT to teach SS! See you in the am.
I love that HT! We have one that just opened about a year ago that is about 3 miles from us, so that's where we go. It is very nice, but not like the one at Friendly!
I wondered where you were. I tried to call you yesterday. NOw, THAT is a die hard couponer to to coupon on the road! You are right. They were out of like almost ALL the cheap, free stuff so WAY to make the most of your road trip!
I tell you what, that Obama can sure implement change pretty quickly, can't he? In fact, didn't he come up with the idea of triple coupons?
Good job, Donna! I've been somewhat slack on my couponing and it's mainly because I have no other places to stockpile food. I'm wondering if I could close up one part of the garage and just use it as my grocery room?
Poor Danville! It is a "not so desired place" to live. The short while that we lived there was nice family time for us. Something I miss!
Also, ODDLY, there is LOTS of wealthy heritage/history in Danville, VA. I guess the wealth moved out a looooong time ago, and other things moved it.
I loved living in Danville, VA. The people were wonderful and don't be too hard on old Danville, they have come on hard times.....Donna you are so funny. Getting out of the car two or three times with two little ones to save money while driving home.....amazing or crazy...maybe both! Just teasing! Good for you for not being lazy like me. Love you
Waaaahhhh!!! I want triple coupons!!!!!!
Here's what I want to see... a picture of your coupon holder. I mean I'm sure it's like a notebook or something. I know girlfriend isn't keeping these in plastic baggies. Your new friend may be the coupon queen, but let's see...Donna can be the coupon "bomb".
Donna,I just got done telling Leland that I don't know how you do it with two kids. I'm so nervous to go out with just one, let alone to 3 Harris Teeters. I guess I'll eventually be able to do it.
Good for you! I can't believe all the money you saved. You're such an inspiration. I've been bad with my coupons lately too since I haven't really been to the grocery store.
I'm laughing at the "change" in our country lately...the gas prices sure are nice though!
Ok, HOW DO YOU DO THAT????? Does HT triple up to $1.00 or something? You have to explain your strategy and how you get so many coupons and how you plot things out to save the most money. DO TELL, DO TELL. Walk us through from beginning to end. (That is a great post idea) The most I have ever saved with coupons is $20.
I'm totally with you about the Gastonia store....we stopped there once on our way home from Greenville. NEVER again! I'm not usually picky about where I shop, but this store was too much for even me! :)
I 2nd Kristi's comment!
and thanks for the tip about the Hallmark ornament..I'm on that TOMORROW!
Donna, I can just see you when you are 70....you will be one of these horders that you see on TV. You will have long, white frizzy hair and long yellow fingernails and your house will be stockpiled with mounds of newspaper inserts, hundreds of boxes of coupons and canned goods stacked everywhere. LOL!
