Zits Happen.

Last week, the puberty fairy paid a little visit to our house and sprinkled her awkward-stage dust all over. The lucky recipient was me. For some odd reason, my face decided to pull a fast one and break out like crazy. Each night and day--and then night again-- I found myself looking in the mirror in shock, disbelief, horror, you name the emotion...I had it. Ooooh, I was so embarrassed. I went through all the questions people ask themselves during a time like this: Did I switch anything out of the ordinary? Am I drinking enough water? Am I unusually stressed? On one particular night, I counted SIX zits above my right eyebrow in a straight line! What in the world?! They weren't only above the brow, but they were on my cheek, to the right side of my upper lip, on my hair line....uggggh, they were everywhere. Even my neck hatched a zit. It was so bad that if I had been in high school, I would have begged and pleaded with my mom to let me stay home. Each night, I would look at Roy before I would get into bed and point at my face and say "What is this about?!" (after I picked at it, of course). He'd look at my face with a confused/sorry look in his eyes and then agree that I had a problem. It didn't help that he kept referring to them as my "boils". My boils??

Then my sister-in-law came for dinner one night and when I greeted her at the front door, she asked me what had happened as she looked at my face. She suggested that I go to the doctor. Believe me, I almost did, but then remembered when I had perioral dermatitis (a BAD situation, trust me) a few years back, and how I had to wait for over a week for an appointment. I couldn't wait a week. I needed a fix NOW. Cissie suggested ProActive. You know what that is, you've seen the infomercials. The before pictures and stories are always of sweet, timid teenagers who have major acne problems...not quite my problem, but close. So, I almost made a trip to Southpark to buy some, but thought I'd try Target first. They happened to have these gems on sale:

This stuff is AWESOME (sorry, Denise, but this product deserves that buzz word). First off, the morning after I used it, my problems were not only visibly "almost gone", but they felt better to the touch, too. My new BF, The Terminator cream, is for blackheads and zits and honestly, the blackheads that used to fester on my nose are almost all gone! It's the coolest thing. I've never seen a cream like it. Now, I will say that this stuff tends to dry the 'ol face out a bit, but who cares. Zitties are gone and I am not embarrassed to go out in public anymore.

Oh, and those of you who saw me last week in all my glory and acted like it was no biggie or that you didn't "notice" anything, thanks (ahem, Chrystal and Tiger Dave). You are very sweet and I appreciate it:)

Donna, you're hilarious and such a great writer. You should write a book! I'm glad you found a solution but I wish you would have posted a picture of your beautiful face so we can see if your exaggerating .

So I just left Target because after the fairy left your house, she came to mine. I have been battling for about 3 weeks! My daughter asked me last night if all the mosquito bites on my face were itchy! I'll give a report if it works for me too..lets keep our fingers crossed.

Is it something in the NC water?? I had to order some ProActive about a month ago and I have to say that I was impressed. But, if Target has that and it works well I'll try that when I run out of my supply. Thanks for the tip!

Seriously Donna I was so stressed last week that I didn't notice anything unusual and neither did Dave . . . not that he was stressed, but he's a man! It couldn't have been that bad or surely I would have noticed! :) Glad that you have some cream that works though.

Six zits in a straight line???? It can't get much worse than that. I mean, five in a line would be bearable, but SIX???

You are a nut!!! I can feel your pain...I'm the queen of rosacea, melasma and "adult on-set acne".
