Roy Austin's New Trick

Friday afternoon, we were playing hide-and-seek downstairs. Caroline was counting and RoyBoy and I were hiding. We slid into the coat closet and waited to be found. It took her forever. I could hear her walking by calling our names, so I decided to help her out a little by making a ghost sound...."oooooooooooooooooooo". This sound brought my sweet boy to instant tears. It was the saddest, yet funniest, sound! Of course I did it again to see what he'd do and, again, a sad, pitiful cry. I hugged him and reassured him, don't worry! When Caroline finally found us, I stepped out into the light and--yep. I did it again! More crocodile tears! So, I had to get it on video:

YOU'RE SUCH A MEAN MOMMY....LOL...I admit, it IS funny but didn't that break your heart? Bless HIS heart. I bet Carol will toughen him up with time.

That does it...I'm coming up there and taking that boy home with me...get him away from his mean momma.

Seriously, that is so adorable and so funny! I wonder why that makes him cry? It's not like a stranger is making the sound - it's you. I wonder what goes through their little heads.

So cute!!

Poor thing...all the kids and I had tears in our eyes but were still laughing as we watched. Of course, they all tried it on Wyatt to see if it had the same effect. No luck. We loved Caroline in the background too. So funny! Watch out for cousin torture the next time you're up here. I can see them "trying it out" on the little boy!

OH, THAT BREAKS MY HEART!!!! You are scarring that precious little boy. I love his little teeth. They are so sweet.

Jennifer, are you calling the authorities or should I?

Your voice sounds a lot like Denise's...the way you enunciate words and such.

I must say that I promised myself after the "fur in the breakfast room window" memory from childhood that I would NEVER make my children cry like that on purpose.

Poor Roy Boy! Me no likie either!

I know, girls. I am mean, but I get it from my mom! When we were little she would love to scare us girls! I swore I'd never do it to my kids, but it's SO fun!!! When he woke up this morning, we were playing in our bed and I did it again just to see what he'd do. Well, he cried again. Roy got so mad at me. I've been so tempted all day long to keep doing it, but then I look into his sweet, trusting eyes, and I feel bad. I caught Caroline doing it to him today but she wasnt' doing it right, so he didn't cry. It's soooo funny to me!

What a riot! He is so cute and it is fun to scare them.....I still like doing it, but he needs his Nana. Forgive me, but I do have the cutest grandchildren. I know everyone thinks theirs are the cutest but sorry...I win.
Love you and give each a kiss from Nana. Miss you all and can't wait to see you. It does make me sad though to see his lips quiver and those eyes tear up.

That is so pathetic!! Poor little guy. Remember when you and Dolly used to make Sara Futren cry just so you could love on her and comfort her? I think that's what's happening again.....although you can love on that little guy any time you want, but maybe it's something about comforting a crying child that appeals to you? Just kidding. Well, as I just told you on the phone, he's going to associate darkness with being scared now...at lease maybe he will. Hope you haven't scarred him for life, like I have with you girls and the fur collar caper!!

BTW-your title reads WRONG! It should be "Mommy's New Trick." Poor
RA2 is the VICTIM of your new trick :(

He has the sweetest little sad face! And it does make you wonder what goes through their little heads and what he is associating that noise with. :O) Thanks for capturing it on video.

What a sweet boy, Guess he should get used to that stuff...he has a BIG sister!!

BTW...any hints on how to store (in expiration date order...etc.) coupons?

You have made a believer out of me..I clipped today (Sunday) and am off to start my saving this week.

We are still up at camp eating for free for one more week (10 weeks adds up to a lot of savings..but a few extra pounds too!!)

Hope your week is a good one so you'll have lots to blog about..

Donna, I am laughing out loud at you! Way to be the one to make him cry, and then say, oh, come to mommy, it's okay buddy! Honestly, I used to do that with Will, I'd make a buzzing sound like a bee and he'd start looking around.

ps - I noticed you have a friend name Chandra! Great name, grrrrrreat name!

okay I am just laughing!!! me and the kids watched it about 4 or 5 times. Then of course Lola-Reese and I wanted to see if Jagger was scared of the noise also. Didn't work for us!
