A Change of Scenery

Last Sunday the kids and I headed on up to Boone for the week. The kids were going to attend VBS at my in laws' church and I was going to just relax for the week. Poor RoyBoy got denied at the door because he was a few months shy of 4 years old. He pitched a fit all the way to the car, saying, "I WANT TO GO TO MY CVS!!!", which was very embarrassing. So Caroline got to go to VBS each morning and she LOVED it. She didn't know one person there and I thought for sure she wouldn't go, but like she told me, "I tried it and I liked it!"

So, while we were in Boone, which was perfect weather and a good change from 95 degrees+ Charlotte, we did a lot of this:

and a lot of playing in Nana's creek:
Roy came up on Tuesday night and the next day we went to Tweetsie! Roy Austin is terrified of this fake jail that you can go in and get your picture taken. Every year he screams when we put him in there:My kids---especially Caroline---are currently in a Little House on the Prairie obsession phase. They want to watch it all the time!! They get it honestly:) So, Tweetsie was right up their alley, with the themes. Here they are in Doc Baker's wagon:

And in the Ingall's wagon:

While we were there, we panned for gold:
And just enjoyed being together:

Ferris Wheel riders can ride alone if they are 6 and above. Caroline LOVED this idea and rode all by herself. She had an ear to ear smile the entire ride:)

Thanks, Jane, for watching sweet Charlotte during the week and for feeding us!! It was so nice to have a lazy week. We all had a great time!
