For Those With Girls

My friend, Teecy, sent me this link today for a great blog she found. If you have daughters, read the first two blog posts she has posted. It's SO true. And don't laugh at me when Caroline isn't allowed to listen to the Justin Beiber of her time!

I checked this blog out briefly and think I'm really going to like following this blog. Good job Teecy! I noticed too some of the things it said about teaching your daughters how to dress, etc and being a role model in the way you dress too. Even if you never have girls and have just boys, I think this is important too so that they will want to marry someone who dresses modestly like their momma's. Soooooo, this blog is good for those with boys too. :)

This woman is great at understanding her current cultural reality. I just love her thoughts on teaching them to be IN the world and to BE the hope. It's the only way to change and restore culture, which is part of our calling as Christians. I also like her response to her daughter about Justin B. She said she wouldn't be in trouble for listening to it knowing she can't control every environment. (i.e. friends at dance class) I think this removes any guilt and shame and keeps dialogue open. I think that's a good way to keep kids from being little pharisees. (i.e. telling her friends at dance class they are "bad" for listening) This little girl can BE the hope just by BEING secure and lovely in the way she acts.
All of us have a responsibility w/ the younger generation. But, how incredible is your privilege as a parent to teach your children about their true worth. Yay for all of you moms who are doing this!

Thanks for sharing!! What a great resource!
Little girls just can't even be little girls anymore....even "special" ones. So sad.
