Yesterday, I started the Christmas tear-down. I look forward to having our house back to normal each start of January, but I kind of miss the lights and decorations at the same time. One thing I hate doing each January is taking down the Christmas cards around our back door. I always feel bad throwing them away. Well, yesterday while I was reading my friend, Caroline's, blog she gave me a wonderful idea--keep them and use them as prayer cards! I placed all the cards in a basket and last night during our bedtime routine with the kids, each child picked a card and we prayed for that family! They loved it! It's a good way to share with your family how you know that person/family and maybe some struggles they are going through. (Last night we prayed for the Shobert and Marion families:) So, if you sent us a Christmas card, know that our family will be praying for you and yours throughout 2011! Thanks for this great idea, Caroline!!

Great idea Caroline and Donna! Me likie! Me will do it too!
We started that tradition last year and LOVED it!! We now throw in the birth announcements too ;-)
SUCH a great idea! (and boy am I glad I am in that basket...I need it!)
Donna, that's an awesome idea!!! Thanks for sharing...I'm keeping mine this year too. :) Hope you all had a Merry Christmas...loved all of your pics!!
Donna, I am so excited that you read my post and liked the idea. The boys are loving it thus far. I allowed Liam to select the card the first night and then Aaron and the child that drew the card allowed the sibling to pray for the family. I plan to do it all year through and recycle the cards when the first cycle is complete. What a joy to pray for families all over the world.
Happy New Year!
Donna - thanks for sharing this great idea! I am going to do this too!!!
What a great idea! I was just wondering what I was going to do with all our Christmas cards. Thanks for sharing!
We did that growing up. It was always such a neat way to remember people we may only connect with once a year. That's so cool that you're doing it too!
Gooood idea! I will be making a mental note for next year. I just wish I would have seen this 2 days earlier. I had just thrown out all my cards after sitting and wondering for a whole day "there has to be something I can do with these".
Beautiful Donna. (Said like RR) Seriously, great idea Caroline and Donna.
