Happy Birthday, Sweet Daddy Boy!

Today is the birthday of a very special man in my life...my Daddy Boy! I truly believe that God gives special fathers all girls because He knows they have what it takes to raise them and my Daddy is one of these men.
This past summer, I read "Bringing Up Girls" by James Dobson (my go-to man). Chapter 10 is full of suggestions/wisdom for dads on how to treat daughters from birth until they leave the house. Roy and I were in the car driving home from a trip when I came to this chapter, to I read it out loud to him. The advice was so true, so basic, yet a lot of men don't get it. When I finished reading through the list, I told Roy that Daddy had done every last one of those things for me. (I would type the list, but it's too long. If you have a daughter, get the book. It's worth it!).
So, Happy 65th Birthday, Daddy! Thank you for always taking an interest in my life, for going on school field trips with me, for making up songs about me and singing them to me on the way to school, for never arguing with my mother in front of me, for never laughing at my dreams, for never missing my recitals, plays and sport events. Thanks for maintaining our family traditions and giving me the desire to keep them going. Thank you for telling me I was lovely and for whistling at me every Sunday when I was ready for church. Thank you for being my definition of a man. Because of this, I had high standards that led me to Roy. You truly are a sweet, sweet man and I love you more than I could ever tell you. I am blessed to be your daughter!

Donna, you and your sisters are truly blessed....many men can be a father and some can be a daddy but not many men can be both! Your daddy gave you the great gift of being both. I am truly grateful for his example to Roy .... Thank you Dan Reber for being the man you are. Happy Birthday and I hope your day is extra special. You are a great example of what a Christian husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend should be. Thank you so much for setting such a high standard and such a wonderful example for us to follow. We are also grateful that the LORD allowed us to become family. God bless and love to the Rebers.....Please someone tell him we love him and wish him a Happy Birthday!

Wow Donna, you summed up Daddy in such an incredible way! I CLEARLY remember me having to get used to Danny not complimenting me all the time,on how I looked when I walked out the door, especially on Sunday mornings. I know that sounds horrible to Danny, but Daddy truly did compliment us girls SO much. It built us up and made us strong confident ladies. (And YES, Danny compliments me!)

Daddy is one special, incredible man. We are blessed!

Thank you for that beautiful tribute to Daddy. He was overwhelmed when I read it to him, and I know that all you girls know what he did, and the look on his face as I was reading it. Thank you for loving him the way you do. He never had the example of a good daddy or a strong, loving father figure in his life, but the Lord has blessed him with a wonderful family who loves him unconditionally, and that he loves and spoils. Happy Birthday to my sweetheart!!

Donna, you girls do have a sweet Daddy! I remember when I was little coming over to play at your house and he would save the large appliance boxes to play in or go sledding with us. He is a lot of fun! You girls are truly blessed to have him! Happy Birthday Mr. Reber!

Wow! I'm in tears this morning. Donna, you're such a good writer and said everything my heart would have wanted to say. Sometimes I can't believe that he's OUR daddy! What a special man he is and I thank God for him everyday! Happy Birthday daddy! (Mom, maybe you can read these comments to him)

PS. Sommer, I remember those memories in the big boxes we would play in. So funny! Thanks for commenting.

This is just the sweetest post ever, Donna!!!! I cried when I read it. What an incredible gift you girls have all been given. To have a daddy that is not just a father but a "daddy" who makes you feel like princesses is wonderful. I can't wait to meet your Dad one day because I have heard so many wonderful things about him through the years. Happy Birthday, Mr. Reber!!! Thank you for raising such wonderful daughters.
