Father's Day 2010

What a busy day it was today!! We started off Father's Day by going to church and then rushing home for a quick lunch so we could catch a 12:50 showing of this movie:

RoyBoy is obsessed with Woody and Buzz and Caroline loves Jessie so Roy thought we should take them to see Toy Story 3 this afternoon. I didn't think it would be that crowded since it was a Sunday, but the theater was packed!

It was Roy Boy's first movie (and he brought Woody along for it). He did okay, but can I just say that you never realize how long previews are until you have an antsy 2.5 year old. He made it through 3/4 of the movie before Roy had to take him out. He was dropping popcorn on the man's shoulders in front of us and bouncing on the theater seats. By the way, the movie is GREAT and so funny. I actually teared up a time or two in it!

So, after that movie and after missed nap times, we had two somewhat cranky kids. I thought we should go home and lay them down for a quick nap while we prepared dinner, but Roy wanted to go to the pool with them, so we did. Caroline has been in swim class for a refresher course and is doing so well. She has been practicing getting the nerve to swim in "deep water". She was showing me some of her new moves and I overheard her whispering "All things are possible" as she was swimming. Isn't that sweet?!

So after leaving the pool at 6, we thought for sure they would be exhausted and fall asleep on the couch while we made dinner. Nope. They were wide open (especially Roy Austin). Roy grilled us some yummy steaks and we had a good dinner and then opened his presents. Caroline is taking after her mommy when she was a little girl and finding things to wrap up to give as gifts. She wrapped up her Tiana flashlight and a part to a Little Einstein's toy to give to him. She was so excited for him to open it! He made a big deal over them and told her they were his favorite gifts:

This little guy just enjoyed opening all of the other gifts and then showing Daddy what he got. Needless to say, it was a loud and chaotic night and bedtime was a very happy moment, for ME!

Even though it was a busy day, it was so nice to spend it with our little family while we celebrated our favorite Daddy in the world!

I should have warned you about the previews - seriously they were 30 minutes long. It was a sweet movie though!

Loved seeing you yesterday! You need to post a pic of your adorable dress - you look great!!

Donna, I can't believe how BIG Roy Boy is getting. His face looks so mature. He looks more and more like Roy when he was little. So cute! Just in time for another little newborn around your house.

Looks like ya'll had a BUSY day. I was laughing at the fact that Roy made a huge deal over Caroline's rewrapped toys. I can hear him now. hahaha!

That was a nice post Donna and what a cool thing to do on Fathers Day! Dawn said she cried in Toy Story too. Margaux said her favorite part was when Woody says "Oh for crying out loud!"

I am glad you had lots of nice family time! Sweet! Happy Fathers Day RA1!

I feel your pain in the movies!! We went to see Charlotte's Web (Lindsay's first movie!) I had to lean over and explain what was happening when it was just the action (and no words...) but she laughed and laughed like she knew what was going on!!!
When we left the theater Shae said, "Mom, look at your shirt!" Lindsay was on my lap for a lot of the movie (and she was 10!!) so I had HER melted M&Ms all over me!!!

Glad you had a fun day!!!
