Those of you who know Roy well, know that he is an avid hunter. Hunting is his favorite hobby and his knowledge of guns is amazing. I came from a house where guns weren't talked about or owned and I have to say that I now know a lot more about guns than I ever thought I would:) Anyway, we never take them out in front of the kids or talk about them much. However, Roy Austin knows what they are and loves them! He will turn anything into a gun....sound effects and all.
For instance. Here is a gadget that connects to the new fire station he got for Christmas. It is a pulley that is supposed to connect and pull items to the top of the fire station roof:
With the pulley all the way up, it would make a great gun, right? The other night he ran into the play room and started firing away while making a gun noise with his mouth. Where did he learn this? Seriously!
Here we have a nice puzzle piece to one of Caroline's puzzles. We were working this the other night and he walked over and grabbed this sock/shoe combo:
This is what it looks like on the backside:
Some people see a puzzle piece, others see a gun:
I think it is so neat how God designed little girls to love baby dolls and playing Mommy and He designed little boys to love trucks and make anything and everything into guns! Roy said this week we need to take a little trip to WalMart to buy him a play pistol. And Roy is ecstatic that it looks like he has a future hunting buddy:)

That is so funny that he made those things into guns! A boy after Roy's own heart. That's good. Before you know it, he'll be talking in his sleep at night and will sit up, do the gun shot sign and sound, then lay back down. hahaha! Roy Austin has a good imagination too! What a smart little boy.
Now can you please explain the other toys he has been playing with lately....the one with the coffee cup!!!
Very boy! LOVE it! Yes, go get him a toy gun!
BTW, Mom just told me you all were coming up tomorrow. Yipppeeee!
Woohoo!!! Roy loves boy stuff! Seriously, what would you do if he always wanted to play with Caroline's dolls? Uh, not good. I'm sure big Roy is so proud of junior. Do you guys have like a 5 and dime store around there? We have one here that sells those old pop guns where you put the roll of paper in them and it pops and then smells like gun powder...do you remember those??? I bet he would love those!
What a relief!!!!! I didn't know if the early years of wearing smocks would harm him in any way. HA! (I couldn't resist...I'm just kidding).
Yes, boys will be boys. My BIL would never allow a play gun around his home or son. His son would pick up a stick and pretend it was a gun or grab the broom and pretend it was a shotgun. It is just innate. I think Jennifer's advice about the "five and dime" (Jennifer, you are such a Ma-Maw) was such good advice. I think you should pass on the gunpowder caps though. RA might eat them and blow his lips off.
You are a riot, Donna. Thanks for sharing this - put a big smile on my face.
Another thing that seems to be inate: girls get their tinkle in the potty; boys don't. :(
You are right, God definitely did create boys and girls to be very differnt and each of those distinct qualities help us inderstand Him better!
Lol about boys in smocks! B3 got his first gun for Christmas. It's begun already....
That's funny! I'm with Denise, get him a toy gun. Cap guns are my boys favorites right now. And I really like the smell of the caps firing.
Kristi Woodard,I am laughing! You are SO funny and SO correct about the tinkle!
That was a shocker for me when I had Dan Dan potty trained--you know he being the first boy I had ever really been around for the whole potty thing.
I can remember vividly thinking, "What??? Why can't you keep that think pointed at the potty?" I was much better prepared for Harry Jack. LOVE my boys!
Donna and Dolly will be there soon!
God's designs are amazing! I have only experienced the "pinkness" though, but I have 2 nephews here in town and they ARE so different from my girls!
I hope you will do a LOST post soon, I am counting on YOU to get me through this season! Ugh! My husband said it is :too stressful" to watch!
I do love my boys but mine are more interested with animals and cars. I am not an animal person but I have learned more about big cats and reptiles that I care to know. I think having boys helps me to understand and love my husband more!!!
Your posts crack me up! I especially love the ones about Royboy, because it kind of give me a "heads up" on what's to come with my little guy! Lol!
Yes, boys will be boys!
I had no idea about that website and yes I am sooo shocked and dissapointed in Jakey boy. I thought it would be Tenley. WOW!!!!
