What Up?

Roy is out of town for the next week so it's just been me and my two. They have actually been pretty good, especially RoyBoy. He has been an angel lately, although he still continues to get into things. His new favorite past times include playing with and carrying around toilet brushes, finding hand soap and pumping it all over the house, and the other morning when I went to get him out of his crib, I found him with only his shirt on, diaper off and a big clump of poop sitting in the middle of the crib. He went instantly into the tub and the entire crib was disinfected. I'll take his creativenss over those awful temper tantrums we were experiencing a month ago! So, here's a little of what's been going on with us....

1. Coming soon down the street from our house is a little shop called SAS Cupcakes. I can't wait! I'm can't tell if it's a bakery or a place where you make orders for parties, but curiosity's got this cat!! And by the way, Sprinkles Cupcakes is coming to Charlotte soon, too! Yippee!

2. The other night before we turned out the light to go to sleep, I looked over and said "oh my word!". Roy thought I saw a bug or something and he quickly looked over to where I was looking. This is what we saw:

Do you see it? Look closely. A backwards "C", and "A" and an "r". Hmmm. I wonder who did that? It made us laugh. No matter how many times we say "only color on paper", I still find scribbles on our walls every once in a while. I think she did this during nap time last week when I allowed her to nap in our room.

3. Speaking of ), A, r...we are now currently running a musical marathon at our house if anyone wants to come over. This is definitely my child. She is obsessed with them now, especially The Sound of Music. I brought the soundtrack into my car and now that is the only thing we listen to. Sadly, RoyBoy now yodels when "Lonely Goatherd" comes on. And Caroline knows just about every song.

4. And speaking of our yodel-er, he has become Mr. Chatty Chuck this past week. He is talking more and more each day and it is so funny to hear the words he is chosing to finally say! We've also taught him to thank me after each meal before he gets out of his seat and then take his plate to the sink. This is a very funny thing to see.

5. If you went to Liberty University, you MUST read this book:

The Unlikely Diciple by Kevin Roose. I finished it last week and I literally couldn't put it down. This is the guy who went to Brown and transferred to LU incognito for a sememster to investigate Liberty and write a book about hisexprience. It is laugh out loud funny. I would read parts of it to Roy at night and we would laugh togther. So much of it is SO true, but there are parts that I don't agree with and think were interpreted the wrong way. The sad thing is, Kevin (the author) was in the Liberty environment for an entire semester, did all the Christian things, took many religious classes, and he writes at the end of the book that he knows that if one ounce of Christianity is true, than it all HAS to be true, but he can't make that commitment right now. He says "maybe" he might make the decision for Christ in the future. I ended the book feeling so sad for him. He has had so many opportunities to accept Christ but he continues to reject Him. This past week, I have found myself praying for him many times! Anyway, it's a great book.

Well, I was just getting ready to publish this post when I heard a big crash. RoyBoy was carrying two bottles of nail posh around and banging them together like cymbals. When I turned around, I saw clear nailpolish all over my hardwood floor and glass from the bottle all over, too. Luckily, it wasn't the red nail polish and thank you, Jesus, it all came off immediately!! Roy Austin's an angel, alright:)

Woohoo...I'm the first to comment...that hasn't happened in like months!

Donna, do you have your hands full or what? That RoyBoy is hilarious! I would love to just sit in a room, you bring him in, and then just let him entertain me with his antics. I know it's frustrating for you, but oh so funny for your blog readers! :)

If you get bored one day next week then just pack up those two chillins' and head on down to Greenville and hang out with us for a day...I'll make sure and lock up all my fingernail polish! :)

Oh, and you MUST get RA yodeling on video. That could possibly rank up there with the you scaring him video!

Donna, I'm laughing so hard at the "Lonely Goatherd". I always thought it was the Lonely Goat Herd. Like a herd of goats. The words of that song are hard to get. I never really understood the meaning of the song. Maybe Caroline could give me the 411 on the LG song. Ha! :) It's so sweet though that she loves all these wholesome movies.

Hang in there, you have just a few more days! Paul comes home TOMORROW! I'm heading out to cut the grass for him right now.

Oh, and you HAVE to keep us posted on the cupcake shop. I'm addicted to cupcakes! I recently found out we have a store in Marietta. (Thanks to Kristi - All the fun in the world)

Donna, I also just got finished reading that book and it was funny, and some of it was true. It gives you a look at what non christians feel about christians, but allowed him to see that he was mistaken on some views. I am very burdened for him and have been praying, I've thought about writing to him on Facebook and letting him know he is making a HUGE mistake. He will probably think I am the NUTTIEST Christian out there! I was also, saddened by the Dr. Falwell part. How Dr.F prayed for him and asked God to annoint him in a very special way,and put him in key places of journalism. Isn't it ironic how Dr.F's last face to face interview was with Kevin. Not ironic or just maybe a GOD thing! Sorry to ramble, I just wanted to discuss this book with someone who had read it.

I really want to read this book. I keep making myself finish the other ones I've started first but I can't wait to read old Kevin's book.

I love the subject of your post...."what up?" Love the marks that Caroline made on your wall. So funny! And I'm so excited that cupcake is coming down the street from you too. We'll have to start making visits there from now on.

Good post!
Cupcakes must be ALL the rage now as here in the Star City is "Bubblcake". I've yet to check it out, but the word is everyone is crazy for it! Like, lines out the door. And all she has...are cupcakes. Coffee and tea as well I think. I just keep thinking, "WHY didn't I do this?"....oh well.

A couple of months back there was a review on this book in the Roanoke paper...looks good.

You MUST get RA on video doing the yodel part...MUST! Too funny.

Poor Caroline, she isnt old enough to know you never write your own name on the wall. It gives you away everytime.

I find little marks and drawings on our walls as well and yesterday I was putting Brody in his carseat and as I was shutting the door I noticed a scratch on the door and as I looked closer I realized it was a S and a O and a P. (sophia) I haven't told Greg yet...eeek!

I started that book one night while Jason and I were hanging out in Barnes and Noble. I was laughing out loud in the store and Jason thought I was pretty funny. I can't wait to go back and finish it.
