A Picnic and a Party

Every August, Samaritan's Purse and BGEA come together and have one big company picnic for the employees and their families. It's usually at Grandfather Mountain, NC and it's always fun. Sadly, it poured rain most of the morning and early afternoon, but it soon cleared up. The wet inflatables didn't stop anyone from wanting to play. Not even Roy and Kristy! They got right in there with the kids and got SOAKED in the process. I had a dress on, so I was the picture taker!

Here they are prior to a big accident. Kristy had RoyBoy and Roy had little Hannah. Caroline, Hannah and Roy were the first ones up this huge inflatable slide right after they reopened it after the rain stopped. The girls and Roy got to the top and then Roy slipped and lost his balance and fell down the ladder. I was watching the whole thing (along with a huge crowd) and the next thing we see is tiny, little Hannah tumbling down the ladder after him....bouncing on her HEAD! Oh, it was awful. The whole crowed gasped (I can still hear it) and Kristy and I just stood there. Everyone ended up being okay, but it was a horrible thing to see. Hannah is seriously so tiny! To see her bouncing down a sharp incline was awful! Roy felt awful, too!!! Here they are after the fact. It took Hannah a little while to stop crying:(

Poor Caroline was stuck at the top. Roy had to go up again and help her down because she was scared after seeing every one's reaction to the fall! The middle ladder area is where the fall took place.

Roy took RoyBoy on a smaller inflatable slide. His face cracks me up! He's such a dare-devil, but he looks terrified in this picture!

Look how wet they got! They all smelled like sweaty locker rooms when we left to go home. We couldn't figure out why, and then realized how sweaty those things must have been before and the rain water just rubbed it off on them. YUCK!!!

The kids bounced a lot, too. It was a lot safer in there:)

While Roy, Kristy and I were trying to eat our yummy BBQ, look who OFFERED to watch the kids for us--Cuz!! I'm thinking he's really taking a liking to the kids and the thought of a weekend with RoyBoy doesn't sound so bad after all? He really helped out a lot, and we were all able to enjoy our dinner and our banana pudding....right, Kristy?!

RoyBoy and Nana, watching Gramps speak:

Look who else was at the picnic! HPS, herself. If you haven't heard, she is having twins next March!! AnnaPreston and Roy Austin had a few minutes to play with each other before we left to come home: (Hannah, this is a great picture of you! You look mighty pretty!!):

On Friday we had to go to Roy's office for a birthday party for sweet Mr. Capin. This man turned 85 and he is in the best shape. He still works full time and is such a great, godly man. He has taken Roy under his wing and has offered him advice and counsel over the years. He and his wife are kind of surrogate grandparents to us and to many at the office. They are just the sweetest people.

Here's the birthday boy! He got on his knees for the picture so he could be closer to Caroline! Then he just got right back up, with no issues. I hope when I'm 85, I'm like that!

Here is Mrs. Capin and Caroline. When Caroline was around 2, she couldn't say "Capin" so she called them Grandma and Grandpa Poopin:) They got a kick out of that! Caroline used to also call the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella "Grandma Poopin". Doesn't she look like her? Just give her a blue cape and a wand!

During the party, I looked around and didn't see RoyBoy anywhere in the dining room. I wasn't worried because I knew he was safe in the building, but I went looking for him and discovered him working the vending machines:

This has been a nice weekend for us. It's our first weekend home as a family in a month! We have nothing planned and that is fine with us. The kids slept in until 9 this morning. This makes 2 days in a row, so I know they are tired and are slowly catching up. Tomorrow is promotion Sunday at church...Fall is on the way!!!

Ya'll are so busy! I bet it feels good to have nothing planned for a while. Poor Hannah and Roy falling like that. It was probably scary/funny at the same time. Roy looks thrilled to be on the slide. hahaha!

Mr. and Mrs. Capin are the sweetest people. I can't believe he is 85 now and still in such great shape. What an inspiration! I'm glad ya'll got to be there for his party. Have a great weekend!

Funny post, Donna. I could just smell the sweaty smell as you were describing it. I bet the fall took years off you and Kristy's life. I hate witnessing something like that.

That is funny that C called them the "Poopins". That was very ingenious that you have already taught RA how to stick his arm up the vending machine and get free stuff. His arms are so small, just think of all the loot you will rake in. Don't worry about ever bringing change anywhere. HA!

You really are busy!

I bet that incident was pretty scary! (especially that there was a crowd seeing all of it happening)

How is Roy's brother that left for Iraq?

You've been one busy family lately....last weekend in Minneapolis, and now the picnic. Looks like you had a really good time. I'm so glad nobody got hurt in that fall, and that everyone just continued to ride those rides and have fun.

Caroline looks nice in her little pink dress you got her at Marshalls the other day. Love you all. Have a good weekend!!!

OUCH! Hey, at least it was a cushionie (sp?)fall. When I heard the story from Dayna, I thought they fell off the ride, over the edge, onto the ground. I mean--a fall is a fall, but at least they landed on somewhat of a cushion. Poor Roy, I am sure he felt really bad!

Have a fun weekend tomorrow just being a family! We missed you tonight! Can't wait until you come up next weekend sweetie!

Oh fun memories. I had such a blast at the picnic. The pictures don't do that fall justice. It doesn't look nearly as tall and slippery as it was. Oh fun times. I think we'll have many more scary falls like that. She is just as busy and active as RoyBoy. They are keeping us young:) Miss you guys already
