Father's Day and Francine

We--or I guess I should say Roy--had a nice Father's Day! Caroline and I made him the above sign to hang up for our special dinner. I worked hard making his favorite meal only to have the whole thing over in 20 minutes! He loved it, though, so that made me happy:) After dinner, we opened his presents and then went to some friends' pool to cool off. They are out of town and let us use it when ever we like, so it was a nice treat! So, we had a wonderful day spent with our #1 guy! The kids are now in bed, so we are going to enjoy a piece of Roy's Father's Day Blackberry Pie and watch some TV. Here are some pictures of our evening:

Roy's getting better about posing and smiling for my pictures lately. He recently saw a blog book I made for my sister and he loved it. He wants me to make my blog into a book for us, so he is all into my blog now!

My three. They make me smile!

And let me say a big thank you to my blog friend, Rose! She sent me a book a few weeks ago. It was one I had heard of before, but not read because the story takes place in the Roman/Gladiator times and I thought it sounded boring. I love the author, Francine Rivers, and I've never read anything boring by her, but I'm just not a Roman times kind of girl. I've had about 5 people in the past few years tell me how good this book was though, so I gave it a try and let me say that I LOVED it! I literally was almost in tears at the end.
It is such a good story and the best part of it is that it's a trilogy. When I finished it on Saturday I couldn't wait to begin book two, so Jessica let me borrow it this morning!! Read this book. Trust me, once you get past the first 4 chapters or so, it becomes a page turner. The names of the characters are hard to read at first but by the end of the book, they will be rolling off your tongue. I can't wait to start book two in a few minutes (while I eat my pie and watch TV with Roy!). Hang on, Haddesah...I'm coming (that's for all of you readers who have read the above book!!).

you must have just posted this because I never received an email telling me you have a new post. Looks like ya'll had a nice day. That's so nice that you slaved in the kitchen to make Roy's fav meal. What a good wife! Did ya'll go to RR's pool? I love their pool.

I can't wait to borrow this book at the beach. If you're looking for me, I'll be the one under the umbrella and the big hat on wearing 50+ sunscreen reading that book! Can't wait!!!

So glad you all had a nice Father's Day. Your pictures are so nice. I didn't get the "Francine" part of your blog until the very end. Now I know. I guess Dolly will be reading your book at the beach. I'll bring another Francine book that I haven't read yet. She's really a good writer.

Good post!!!

Ahhh, going to a pool sounds so nice. I am hot all the time and was dreaming of a pool today. That book is a good one. Long, but good.

Who did you make the blog book for... Denise? Dolly? How did it turn out? Did you use one of the online companies that do them for you or did you do it yourself? I want to see pics. Do tell!

We borrow our friends pool too. They alwasy go out of town and you can hear us a mile away jumping and splashing in their pool. We really want one. :(
Glad you read the book. I thought it would be a drag too until I got past the first three chapters and then fell in love. I couldn't quit thiking about the story. and those roman people were soooo bad!!

Julie Day gave me the first two books. I stopped in the middle of the second chapter last summer. That V in the W set is her favorite FR books. So, now I am eager to pick it up and start reading it again.

Donna I can send you the second book if you want.

Thanks for the book recommendation and what a fun Father's Day you provided for your hubby!

Donna, you are such a good wife! Peyton has been sick, so all Dave got for dinner was frozen pizza rolls.

I LOVED those books and have read through them twice. Someone gave me the first one about 6 years ago and like you said, after you get through the first couple of chapters you can't put the book down! I gave them to my sister-in-law for Christmas about 4 years ago and she didn't read them until about 6 months ago. She was mad at herself for not reading them sooner. I just gave the first book to a friend as an end of the school year gift.

Way to spoil your hubby!! I'm going to see about reading that book now that you've recommended it. I too loved her other books but never thought I would get into this one either...we will see!!

Your family is so sweet. I hope to make my blog into books too - pass along any ifo you come up with.
That first book in that trilogy is the best - I couldn't put it down. But do you find that despite describing her as unattractive, you continue to imagine that she still is?!

Donna,
It's a long story, but that trilogy is the reason our Bible study began. They changed my life. Read all three- worth the time.

Donna, you are a good wife! That is funny about Roy getting into your blog now. Who would've thunk it? I cannot imagine Mike jumping on the blog bandwagon but miracles still happen.

Tell Roy that we want him to author a post for us. Kind of a "Graham Central Station" from the man's perspective. (I won't hold my breath)

Donna, I was just given this trilogy. My aunt passed them over to me after she read them. I read the first page and put it down. I guess I'll muster it back up and try it again. I also saw a word appendix in the back. Will I be referring to it the entire time, like a dictionary???

I have to ask what you ended up getting Roy for Father's Day? Remember all the things he was reminding you of (when we came through for lunch) that you said you were getting him for Father's day. You kept saying..."Father's Day is coming...!" Ha! That's making me laugh!!!
