Montreat is a cute, little village outside of Asheville, NC where both of Roy's grandparents have houses. Roy spent most of his summers there when he was little where he participated in the local clubs (like a day camp). Jane also went to these clubs when she was a little girl so it's a family tradition to attend. It was so neat to be able to put Caroline and Roy Austin in them on Friday. Yes, even little RoyBoy was able to go to camp for a day!! Hopefully they will go back for a few days before July 4th. They loved it! Here they are getting out of the car on Friday morning, getting ready to go in:
The kids had such a fun time with their cousins. Caroline loves being around girls who are older, so she followed CJ and Rachel around and enjoyed being with them.

There were also a lot of Little House episodes being watched during our visit:

Mary, Laura and Carrie?
There is a huge creek in the main park in Montreat where you can usually find kids playing. When the clubs were over on Friday, we all went down and had fun playing in it. RoyBoy didn't know what to think at first, but after a few minutes, he was in little boy heaven:

Nice undies, Quinn!
Another Montreat tradition is getting ice cream at the Blue Cone. We went there on Friday night for some yummy treats. RoyBoy had to be strapped in the stroller so he wouldn't get hit in the parking lot. He didn't like it:
We had fun playing Truth or Dare at bedtime on Friday, we had a water balloon fight a pillow fight, and just enjoyed spending cousin time in Montreat. Our last night there, Caroline fell out of her bed onto the hardwood floor. She screamed for a few minutes, and awoke with a purple egg on her forehead. Needless to say, all of the activity over two days and no naps made for two tired kids when we returned to Charlotte. Both of them were in bed at 6:00 on Saturday night! I really enjoyed my quiet night alone and was able to finish a Nora Roberts book Jane let me borrow:)
Oh, and here is Caroline's new favorite outfit that Nana bought for her at Target. It's a mini-version of my running outfit and she thinks she is something else in it:

Tonight starts VBS for Caroline and Roy comes home, too! Another busy week is ahead!!

Looks like you all had a wonderful time in Montreat. Loved the pictures....that stream looks cool and refreshing. The children will have many good memories.
Oh dear....don't be telling people I gave you Nora Roberts book cd's! Pure trash! Thanks for coming up. You made the week fun and the kids loved having you all here. They loved the pillow fights and the water balloons and Truth or Dare!!! Poor Uncle John...I hope he doesn't hear well! Love you Donna and thanks for coming and helping me out! We enjoyed having you and hope the bug bites go away soon....Glad Roy got to go out and see Edward, Kristy and Hannah...Thanks.
Talk about nostalgia looking at those pictures. Montreat Club is def a great memory and me so proud RA2 is rock hopping like a champ. Those creeks + kids = hours of entertainment.
Whew, I'm catching up on your busy little life Donna. How do you do it? Camp, puree-ing food, traveling, reading too???
The one pictured of the girls climbing trees looks like a scene right of of LHOTP. I remember when Pa would meet Laura down by the creek to have a talk. Bandit was usually not far behind.
You need a side by side picture of you and Caroline matching. That's so cute, she wants to be like her momma!
Is Nora Roberts really trash??? Do tell! I'm reading Leota's Garden by Francine Rivers right now...I could use a little more "excitement" if you know what I mean!!! :)
It looks like the kids had a GREAT TIME! I know Jane was happy to have you with her helping too. That was a lot of kids. All the cousins look alike to me too. Wil and Kendra's kids sure are getting big too. Especially that little Quin! He's a cutie!
That is awesome that everyone got a chance to go see Edward, Kristy and Hannah! So, important to be with him before he leaves! Cubs (as I called it) where a lot of fun even though I complained the whole time! Rock hopping is the best! Glad you were able to do that with the cuz!
I always get a kick out of the roy boy pics because he so reminds me of my brody boy. We use the harness too...ooops I mean stroller to keep Brody from getting run over. Somethng about the street and parkin glots he just can't seem to control himself. ha ha
Looks like you had a wonderful time..
Great post Donna! I loved all the pictures. The ones of the little stream reminded me of Peaks of Otter.
Wow, the kids in day camp is COOL! What did you do all day? I would have been back home in bediby making up for some lost sleep.
AND I love Caroline's cute outfit. I tell you what, those little diddies are the most comfortable to wear. I wear mine all the time too!
OK, I am going out today and buying myself one of those cute running skorts. Love them!!!
What a fun time you had! Nothing like getting away and doing something different and having fun family time too. I know your kids LOVED IT!!!!
Now, let us know about the book. I need to do another library run this week.
(Jane, don't worry, your secret is safe with all 100 of us that read Donna's blog. Don't be ashamed...Donna has already told us about your 1000 volume library of Harlequins) LOL~
Great recap of your time away. The photographs are great and Caroline's new outfit is great!
I am so glad you venture out all by yourself with the kids. I was always kind of a chicken when it came to doing that, but once I started I was so lad I did! (and my husband is busy like Roy, so if we don't go alone sometimes...we sit around at home!)
The Fancy Nancy party was adorable!!
awwww, I wish could have been there! Looks like it was a blast. I can't believe how big Quinn is getting! Love Caroline's new outfit. I bet she thinks she is so cool dressing like her Mommy, that is a big girl shirt!
I didn't realize Montreat was close to Asheville...that's in my neck of the woods. Next time you're there we'll meet you for some ice cream. :) What fun and such a nice DIL you are! (That's what you wanted me to say, right?)
So y'alls VBS is at night? Ours started this morning and Max had a ball, but I've heard of a lot of churches doing it at night now.
Love the running outfit on Caroline...who knew they sold those in tiny sizes!
Actually Jennifer you were suppose to say GML.....but yes Donna is a great DIL but I have three awesome DIL and one awesome SIL......we are very blessed in this family!!!! I really do mean that too....I could not be more blessed with the spouses the LORD gave my children. I am very very grateful......
Fun times! Love the Kids Club. And I love Caroline's outfit. Running skirts are the best!
Seeing them playing in the creek brings back memories! That's where we spent a lot of time in the summer growing up - loved that little park. We still love that little park. Montreat and Black Mtn. are wonderful places!!
ooooh how I love the Blue Cone! I want one now.
If you're ever in Marion, go to Jack Frost. It's kinda like the Blue Cone, but with more choices. mmmmmm. I could road trip for ice cream!
