I HATE BROWN RECLUSE SPIDERS!!!

I have never been afraid of spiders (except if I saw a nasty tarantula or something like that). I hate mice, rats, and snakes, but spiders I don't mind. It never scared me to step on one or pick it up with a tissue and flush it down the toilet.

Well, I am on a spider hunt now. I detest them. Ever since I've been bitten by that crazy brown recluse, I am constantly looking around the house for them. Remember in The Sound of Music how Frauline Maria checks her bed for spiders before she gets in? Yeah, that's what I do now. After googling brown recluse spiders, it seems that these guys love to come out at night. They hide in the walls, in shoes, in odd places and about two hours after the sun comes down, they come out. Creepy, huh? I then went on to read that they are very common around the households of the SouthEast and the Central part of the USA. They are also called Violin or Fiddleback Spiders, because they have a white violin shape on their backs. Most of their victims are bit in their sleep, therefore they don't remember being bit because apparently it's supposed to be a bite that really hurts. I don't remember a thing. Oh, yeah, and don't worry about getting rid of them--there is nothing you can do. If you get your house sprayed for bugs or spiders, this only amplifies the problem because brown recluse spiders love to eat dead bugs and other spiders!!! AND the bites can be deadly in children under 7. GREAT! This past week, if I have seen any spider inside or outside of our house it has been killed within seconds by my foot.

After seeing all the pictures of BR bites on the Internet, I was ready to cry the other night. They looked awful and one site even said that often skin graphs were needed to fix the ulcers that the bites create. Fingers crossed, but so far my bite is closed and I am hoping it stays that way. I am on an antibiotic, so hopefully it will do the trick and no ulcer or pus will show up. My arm is in some serious pain, though. This is one of the most painful things I have ever had to endure, besides poison ivy, an impacted colon (yes, I said that) and childbirth. Who would have thought that a tiny little spider could do this much damage? Don't forget to check your beds tonight before you climb in. Oh yeah, and check underneath your pillows, too. Night-night!

Donna, I am so sorry that you are experiencing pain for that bite. Praying for healing and no evidence left behind of the bite and pain you have endured.

GROSS and freaky is right! YOu should have seen me as I read your post. I instantly looked up around the ceiling of my house and I will DEF be on the look out now. That's seriously so freaky! I'm like you too...spiders don't really bother me but they will now! Thanks for that info! Night night is right!

I HATE spiders...Even the smallest spider I am unable to "kill" without getting the chills and freaking out. Now that I read your post, I am freaked out even more - GREAT!

When mom and Dayna left the house last night...I made Mom kill TWO large spiders right outside my front door. GROSS...

I also had a small spider in my car the other day and I almost has a wreck because I freaked out that I could not squoosh it because it kept running away from me.

Anyway, I'm sorry you are in so much pain...spider bites are nasty.

Hope your bite is healing quickly! Brown recluse bites are very serious--I am very afraid of spiders. Not a fan at all! I am so sorry you are dealing with this.

Last summer I was bit on the foot by a BR spider. I went to the ER!!! I wasn't trying to be dramatic, but I actually came inside after the bite and got dizzy, passed out on my living room floor, Will found me and called Paul and then Tandy. She came over to find me on my floor all purple. My lips and tongue were swollen. The poison was spreading up my foot and the dr. drew a line around the center to see how fast it was spreading. I did antibiotic too, but the BEST thing I did was this....

YOU HAVE TO GET THIS DONNA! Dr. Angela to the rescue:

It's called the Brown Recluse Spider Bite Kit. Yes, they sell those. It's a black powder that you mix with some herbal oil. You wrap the bit with this mixture and it SUCKS the poison out. RELIEF. The poison is what makes it so painful. I did this for a few days and it felt so much better. I'll email you the link. They ship overnight too!

Well Donna, I had no idea this spider bite was hanging on as long as it has...that is crazy! I can't believe it's so painful either...you poor thing. Have you seen any "pus" since you posted? Lovely word, isn't it? Oh, and you had an impacted colon? Please do tell.

Anyway, I'm not liking the fact that basically there is NO WAY to get rid of those spiders. What's a gir/mom to do then? I'm thinking I would be ordering the BR kit...who knew?

Hang in there. :(
