I saw a commercial the other day from TimeLife offering a DVD for the Radio City Music Hall Rockette's Christmas show. It was regular $30 being offered for $20. I thought it would be great to get for Caroline to watch this Christmas season, but I didn't want to pay that price plus s/h. Well, today while I was at Target, I saw it for $9.99 and I quickly took it off the shelf and plopped it into my big, red cart.
When I picked her up at preschool today, I told her I had a prize waiting for her at home. Let's just say that she is mesmerized:
She hasn't moved from that position for about ten minutes! I think she likes it. I will say that if I could do anything--no strings attached--I would be a Rockette in a heartbeat! Maybe she'll feel the same way, now?!
Anyway, it's a great deal and it's really a cute DVD. If you have any little ones at home, espeically girls, get it! Hey, even if you're an adult with no kids, get it. I think we'll watch it as we decorate our tree next week. It's never too soon to start new traditions!!

How fun! What 3 year old girl wouldn't love the Rockettes?? They are beautiful and can dance!! You are such a fun Mama!! See you tonight!
I'll just say this: ROCK ON!!
Nice nail honey!
Denise, you're funny.
I love the rocketts too!!!!! I agree, you're a fun momma
Remember how we went to see the Rockets live after 911? Yes
And then remember how we bought those cute little Christmas tree ornaments of the "Rocket Girls" dancing? Yes
Then, remember how Maddie tried to "make the girls dance" and BROKE my ornament right in half!?
Awwww Mannnnn!
I keep telling Danny, One day we will have nice things. Until then, we will just have to glue the broken things back together.
Maybe she will be inspired. I never had a chance being a rockett, no flexibility here. Barely touching my toes.
the traveling show is coming to Cincinnati, I am trying to get Corey to go!
go, Cissie! It came to Charlotte a few years back. It was good but it would have been better in NYC. Maybe one day.
Yes, Denise. I remember when you all went to NYC for Thanksgiving and I couldn't go. Wahhh.
I also had my ornament broken last year by Caroline. I was so mad. IT's my favorite ornament and her shoe snapped off.
The mean sister: Donna you really missed out that year we all went to NYC and you couldn't come. We had the BEST time!
PS. I love going to NYC with Denise and Danny. They know all the great places to go.
I love the Rockettes! They amaze me! I guess with all my cheerleading experience.... "point your toes, straighten your elbows, tuck in your thumbs,etc"...I can really appreciate how in sync they are! ha! :) We saw them in NYC with Brent and Kirsten before we all had kids. Thanks for the tip - not sure my boys will dig it, but I would love to have it on while decorating the tree or something.
I saw that same commercial and I thought the same thing! I'm definitely headed over to Target to get a copy!!!
What a great suprise for Caroline after preschool. I saw the Rockettes live in Phoenix last year. It was our corporate team outing and it was amazing!
Oh that's right Donna, you didn't go. As I look at the picture, hanging in my kitchen, of me, Maddie, Dolly and Dawn standing outside Radio City Music Hall, I don't see you in it. Sad. We had a blast!
We seriously need to do that again! Maybe Thanksgiving '09?????
LOL @ the mean sissies! L-O-L.
Now can you people see the truth in the post I did to Baby Logan about all the torture he/she will have to endure. (pushing "publish your comment" while I blow my nose and wipe away my tears).
Weren't you a newly wed when your "mean" sisters went to NY to see the rockettes? Poor Donna, no rockettes, no bunny coat, no baby book, and etc.
No, it was the second year of our marriage. I wanted to go soooo badly, but Roy said that we HAD to go to Thanksgiving with y'all. Just kidding! It's a pleasure spending Tgiving with you all each year! I'm serious. No harm done. Maybe one year we can go to NYC for the holidays. It would be fun.
Hey...Donna wasn't the only one not there!! We had Thanksgiving elsewhere that year too. Okay, okay...we don't travel much anyway I know. And...not to rub it in too much...but my ornament is still whole. I should knock on wood...this will be the year it breaks! The Rockettes are my favorite part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. It just isn't Thanksgiving until I can watch them all kick their legs that morning. After I see that then I can get the celebration started!!
See, now THAT is a Reber family tradition I miss...watching the Macy's Tgiving parade in our pajamas. We are usually hurrying off to go to lunch now. I remember our first year of marriage I thought Roy and I would have a leisurely Tgiving morning watching the parade, eating the coffee cake I made. Instead he was saying "come on, let's get ready to go". I was shattered! I don't think he tasted my coffee cake, either:( (Cue Debbie Downer music now).
Can someone get "booed" out of commenting if they were to say they have never seen the Rockettes on TV or anywhere?!? The only place I have ever heard the Rockettes mentioned (That I can remember) is in the movie Dirty Dancing. Sad, but true. Only the Rebers will appreciate the following: Thanksgiving was always spent getting to grandma and grandpa's house a little late because mom's oven never worked right to cook her sweet potato casserole (but the Heavners were always later, so it was ok) and waiting an extra hour or so for sweet grandma's turkey to finish thawing in the oven as it cooked (because her oven never cooked right either) while she mixed up 3 different flavors of tea (in the same pitcher) because none of them had enough to go around alone. The rolls would be hard as rocks, uncle Mike would make some terrible joke about the uncooked bird and we'd all eat very happily, but not before grandpa looked around the room at all his family to give the progenitor speech followed by a long emotion-filled prayer (all the while we cousins were making faces at each other like we were going to starve in the mean time). The evening usually consisted of all the aunts and uncles playing games (Usually Trivial Pursuit) and me, my brother and our cousin, Josh would go in grandma's spare room to make a Thanksgiving Day rap to perform later. Interesting, I know. All that, but no Macy's parade or Rockettes. Maybe they weren't allowed...perhaps I will have to do that this year. When is it on and do all the major stations show it? What do I know? Someone's in a talkative mood tonight!!! Embarrassin'. ;-)
Shelly! YOu are hilarious!! I could imagine the whole scenario...especially Papa's Progenitor speech!! "None of you would be here, if it wasn't for me!". (Yes, he said that at my rehearsal dinner!!!!)
I remember the raps you and Josh and DOlly did and I thought it was so cool. You forgot about how we'd go on Grandma and Papa's waterbed, too!
Shelley that is hilarious. You have me laughing. It's funny how many of those things we pick up in our own families...trying to wait for meat to be done, mixing up three kinds of tea! Hilarious!! Thanks for the laugh this morning.
I totally forgot that you all were there one year and Dolly got in on the rap. Did we leave you out again, Donna??? I totally forgot about the waterbed...good memory.
Ah, good times. Wouldn't that be great to do it again...all bazillion of us together one year? It won't totally be the same without grandma there getting frustrated with "Johnny" or to get so tickled at one of us grandkids that she'd just carry on in silent laughter, probably wetting herself all the way. (Sorry grandma!) I miss seeing everyone, that's for sure!
Thanks for such an active group of bloggers to make this so entertaining. If it weren't for you Rebers, my comments would be nil. True midwestern fashion. Boo hiss.
hah! I can just hear hear saying, "Johnny!" Bless her heart, she couldn't yell...her voice was so soft that her yell was like a loud whisper! Mom's voice is getting like that!!
