Stoking the Home Fires

Roy is now in Cambodia. His cell phone works over there, so I get a call from him usually in the morning (bed time for him) and around dinner time (when he is just waking up)! He says it's VERY hot over there and there is no AC in his hotel room. Glad it's him and not me:) I gave him my sweat shop order for knock-off jeans but the lady in Cambodia told him that they only make them for the body types of the Cambodian women, and since I'm no size 2, I guess I won't be getting any knock offs on this trip!
We've been keeping very busy. I planned at least one activity each day since he's been gone, so we've been on the go and it's been nice. Tomorrow we leave for Lynchburg. Here's what we've been up to, so far, this week:
On Saturday, I painted our laundry room. It's now more clean looking and more put together. I don't know what the spots are about--something on my camera lens, I guess. Dawn, do you like my new ironing board cover?!
I went to town and just cleaned the entire room--cabinets and all. I opened the lid to the washer and saw how nasty the part of the agitator where you put the fabric softener was. When you get a chance, check yours out! You'll be suprised. I stuck my finger in there and it was kind of cool, but disgusting all at the same time. I probably scraped 2 inches of gunk out of there. Look how clean and new she looks now:)

On Monday, we met our friend, Caleb, at Noah's Art for an art day they were having. We painted, made bracelets, butterflies and bugs.
After that we hopped on over to Caleb's house to play. We didn't get home that day until after 5 and both of my children were more than ready to go to sleep. Bedtime was at 6:30 that night and Mommy was very happy!
On Tuesday, my friend Chrystal invited us to go to a craft activity at the Charlotte Mint Museum. We ventured uptown and walked to the museum from the parking garage a few blocks away. Caroline was a little nervous walking uptown. Cars were zooming by and she kept looking up at all the sky scrapers saying, "I skehwwd" (translation: I'm scared).

Here she is in front of the Hearst Tower waiting for the museum to open.
Two artists (Savannah is on the left) making their Father's Day art creations.
Grandaddy, close your eyes. Here is your Father's Day masterpiece that Caroline made for you!!
Oh, La---dies!! Let me explain. We had a play date today at my friend Kristie's house. She had a white drape sheet, so we all decided to throw a little photo shoot, baby style. I needed a naked shot of Roy Austin for their bathroom to match Caroline's. This boy is a natural! He loved being naked...

...especially with all of the ladies watching.

I tried to get a cute shot of Caroline in her nightgown holding her brother, but as you can see, that wasn't going to happen.

So, I decided to do separate shots.

Miss Personality.

AnnaPreston and Sarah were on the go for their sessions. It was hilarious to watch their moms take the girls' pictures! Here is Hannah as she tries to make AnnaPreston sit still!!

Once again, my two were exhausted when we got home. So now I'm off to pack and get ready for the babysitter to come so I can go to Bible study and enjoy some freedom and girl talk! See you in Lynchburg!

Wow! You've been a busy girl. I love, love, love the naked pictures of RA. SO funny! He's even kind a slight farmers tan. Your laundry room looks great too. That's good that you're using this time to get lots done. It's finally cooled down a little here in the burg so evening swims will be nice when you come! Can't wait to see you all tomorrow.

No joke. You HAVE been busy! I can't wait to do crafty things like that. Me LOVE crafts! Your pics turned out GREAT. Mine weren't quite the success story. Somebody looked like she didn't feel very well in pretty much all of them. I think her shots have done a number on her this go round!

DRS, did you open your pool?!?!?

Thats why I have loved you since I have met you, because you for some odd reason we find it cool to clean nasty things like the junk out of the washer. Or you would never back down from popping a good zit!

Anywho...Caroline looks so grown up in her swim suit, just wait she will be asking for a "two-piece" (that is the proper way of saying it) before you know it.

And as far as RA, one day he will shake his head at you in embarrassment. Oh mom!

Cute post. You have been one busy lady. Like the laundry room! And as far as nastiness, it is always fun to pop a good zit! (I know GROSS!)

I hope your pictures turn out good. Try them in B/W, they may look better.

I L-O-V-E popping zits...much to my whole fams dismay! How did we get from stoking the home fires to acne maintenance?!

I am TOTALLY impressed with you, Donna, and ALL that you are doing while your hubby is away!! BRAVO! And your laundry room is inspiring! WOW! Love the look ---ok --your sweet boy is just about the cutest thing EVER! He IS going to kill you, however, when he's older -- LOL! Have fun in LYH and give Dolly a hug for me!

You have been one BUSY girl!! Looks like lots of fun though and it will make the days fly by until Roy gets back. :O) Laundry room looks nice. Love the pics of the kids! RA was such a little ham naked. Too cute!
Enjoy your time in the burg.

Your laundry room looks great! I can't believe how clean it is. You should see mine :) I will have to clean out my fabric softener dispenser - I know it is really clumped on in there too!

Donna, good for you to keep busy while your hubby is gone. I know it's exhausting. Paul just started traveling last year. Africa, Israel, Cuba. He'll be gone again in a few months, pray for me while he's gone and I'll keep praying for you. (wait, isn't there a song here?)

Hope you have a great time in the burg. Can't wait to hear!

Ok, I am going to have to go nibble on crackers and sip on a Sprite to get over the wave of nausea that hit me with the first zit comment and then to read the three others to follow. YYYUUUUUKKKKK!!! I have to say, I worry about all of you.

OK, my head is between my knees now so I don't pass out but your laundry room looks great. Have fun in wonderful Lynchburg.

Your laundry room looks superb!! Yes, I have cleaned out the gunk before but thanks for the reminder to check again! You go girl! You have been busy but I knew you would be. The pictures are great too! I know Roy will be so happy to get home - Cambodia of all places! Hope you have a great weekend with your family!!

Seriously, can you be any more like Martha Stewart?????? :)

I love that you tried to get some sweat shop knock off jeans..LOL! Keeping busy is the key for me when Alex is gone at work, not that that compares to Cambodia, but I knew you wouldn't be sitting around the house lamenting. Charlotte sounds like it's full of fun stuff to do. I always liked it there when my parents lived in Fort Mill; it's a beautiful city. RA is definitely going to be a heart breaker! He's so adorable.

Donna you amaze me...if my husband was out of town for that long I would plant my behind on the couch in front of the TV with some chips and salsa...NOT CLEAN!!! :) The laundry room does look so clean and crisp - good job!

Hope you're having fun in VA!
