Floaties? They're For Babies!

Today was Caroline's first day of swim class. I called about enrolling her yesterday, and surprisingly they were able to get her in today in the Shining Stars class! I didn't know what to expect, because all she knows about swimming is floaties and having a parent in the water right next to her. She did great, though! She went right in and had the best time. No floaties, no parent nearby (I was behind a glass wall). She kicked and paddled, made bubbles with her mouth and the best part---she got to go down a water slide at the end, or as she called it "a waterfall". During her class, she kept looking to make sure I was watching her. I kept giving her the thumbs up and she'd smile. It was cute!
"Watch out, Little Otters, here I come."
Each week, the class is themed. Today was western day, so Miss Allison had a cowboy hat on. Caroline chose to wear (surprise) Ariel.

They practiced climbing out of the water on their own and then jumping in. I know the other mothers thought I was crazy taking all these pictures.
Roy Austin loved watching his big sis through the glass wall. They offer a class for his age group, too. Do y'all think it's a waste of money to enroll him? Should I wait a few years? I'm thinking yes, but what do you think?

Caroline in the back of the line waiting to go down the waterfall. She loved this part!

I loved when my kids did swimming lessons. We weren't allowed to watch at all and only got to see their progress at the very end for the "Swimming Show". They were SO CUTE!!! It brought back memories when you were saying she kept looking back at you and smiling. These are such precious years you are in with the age of your munchkins.

I was going to ask if that was an Ariel swimsuit, Caroline was wearing...Classy!!! Oh another classic moment is the teacher in a cowboy hat!!! I love it.

Go ahead and put that boy in the Water!!! It is so good for them to learn to enjoy the water as soon as possible. The sooner they learn how to swim the better!

Oh I meant to say, I am so proud of you Caroline. You are such a big girl. She looks so old sitting on the edge of the pool with her hair braided.

& Caroline can rock some shades too!

I've thought about swimming lessons for Xan, too, but it seems kind of pointless at this age, except for the fun factor: it definitely counts for something! I'm glad Roy made it home safely and those pj's are sure to be some of Caroline's fav's; They are super snazzy! I used to love when my Dad would get home from recruiting trips and ball games and bring us something special; and that's really sweet that RA remembered him and was so warm to him. That is definitely a heart warmer.

Way to go, Caroline...looks like she's going to be a natural in the water!

When did RA start smiling so much?! He seems like his personality has really come out lately and he always seems like he's having a ball...so CUTE!!!

Hope you guys are doing well and I'm glad Roy made it back safely!

Jennifer, RA has turned into the sweetest, funniest child. If I hold a camera in front of him, he instantly smiles this huge obnoxious smile! It's like he knows he's supposed to smile for a camera. He's a sweet boy and his personality is coming to life lately. I love it!!

So glad Caroline is taking swimming lessons, and it's great that she went right into the water without her floaties. I guess that's what it's all about. How cute that she kept looking to see if you were watching her. Funny how kids always want their parents' approval, no matter what they're doing. I think, if RA is at the age where he can take lessons, too, you should at least try with him. Can't hurt.
