Two of the three robbers were caught from yesterday's break in. Do you know how they got into the house? It's scary and it's a new trend here in the Charlotte area. Apparently when people go to shopping centers or restaurants, thieves watch a person go in and then break into the car. They steal the garage door opener and then MEMORIZE the address of the person from the car's registration. They mapquest it and then get into the house with no problems. That's what happened yesterday to the people down the street. The owners happened to be playing golf at the hole right across their street and looked over and saw a van backed into their driveway with three guys moving stuff inside! They ran across the street, took the van's keys out so the robbers couldn't get away and then defended themselves with golf clubs! Scary. So one of the guys is still out there. I went out with some friends last night and when I came home around 10:00 the people had every light on outside. I would have too!
So, a bit of advice...if you have a garage door opener, don't let it be displayed in your car. Put it in the console or the glove box. Some cars have the option to program your opener into your car. Mine does, but it's tricky and hard to do. My goal for today is to do this so I won't be a victim of this crazy new trend.

Oh wow...that is so scary!! Can you believe that people go to so much trouble to rob someone-they are definitely getting smarter and smarter. Glad they found at least 2 of the guys.
You be careful up there - especially when Roy is traveling. Mama gotta take care of her herself and her babies, you hear!
Donna, that is very scary! People are seriously crazy now a days! My car got broken into on Saturday night and I lost over 1000.00 in stuff! Very upset and felt so violated. I thought of your blog about your car break in while I was fumming!
Donna, I hope they get the third guy soon! Four years ago, I went for a walk one afternoon with the little girl who had just come to stay with us for the summer from Belarus and left the back door open - as we were in the habit of doing (not good) and someone came in and stole our television. I called the police and she did take figure prints but said good precautions are of course alarm systems and nosy neigbors but she said big dogs that bark are the best. Well, we did get an alarm system - not sure whether or not we have nosy neighbors but we don't have a dog. I have thought about it though - I just just hate to have to think about it! We have not had any trouble since but after that one time - hard not to think about it.
That is scary! thanks for the update! The other night, Mitchell and I were fast asleep and our security alarm went off! I ran immediately to Sarah's room. Turned out it was a false alarm and Sarah slept through the whole ordeal.
Don Don, I saw that on the news last night. I would've love to seem them beating that dude with a golf club.
Suzy, WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?!? Very scary! How did it go off?
