Imagine our surprise yesterday morning when Roy went out to the truck to get something, noticed that the back window had been smashed in with a hammer and saw black glass EVERYWHERE!!! Yep. The truck was broken into. Right away we looked to see if anything was stolen, since we didn't unpack the car all the way from our trip. Roy's computer, his GPS, my breastpump and other less expensive things were still in place! We realized they must have gotten scared and ran, leaving their hammer behind. Roy said he thought he remembered hearing our dog barking the night before. Apparently, some of our neighbors had their car broken into, too, and their whole stereo system was stollen! So, we considered ourselves fortunate and called the police to come do a report. Now, we don't live in a scary neighborhood, but recently our neighborhood and the one that we connect to has had several robberies and attempted robberies. Back in December there was even an attempted kinapping (a grown man, not a child)! The policeman told Roy that this hammer is the first piece of evidence they have against these crimes/criminals. So, maybe our house will help stop these ridiculous crimes?
About an hour after the policeman left, Roy realized that there was something stolen out of the car...Caroline's DVD player!!! UGGHHH! Now, I was mad. How can people do this to other people's property and sleep at night?! What is their reasoning? I am seriously in shock that people can do this, and have the GUTS to do it. They truly have no conscience and are so selfish. Being the optimistic person that I am in this marriage, I quickly found a "silver lining" to this situation. At least the DVD that was in the player was a stupid Elmo one and not The Little Mermaid, which I had just taken out and replaced with the Elmo one. That would have been tragic.

FTP! Wow, that IS scary. GOod thing you have a big Chiwawa dog to protect you. Go Maggie!!!
Way to look at the bright side. Waaayyy to look at the bright side. That woul've rocked if you had posted a pic of the hammer!
Like I told you yesterday, I don't think Roy would have been happy if I would have come outside with my camera taking pictures. Remember, I'm the optimist/Pollyanna of our family. He's Mr. Pessimistic.
Ugh...I know how bad that stinks! A couple of years ago, someone smashed the window to my SUV and stole my iPod and Alex's gameboy. I was beyond being ticked off! I was like "How am I supposed to explain this to her??"
Once I did, she was frightened more than she was upset that someone took her gameboy. Luckily, Best buy was having a sale that weekend and were able to replace both items, but getting a whole window replaced was such a pain!
Oh Donna, that really stinks! It does make you think what kind of people do these kinds of things and how did their parents raise them. I feel bad if I take an extra Splenda packet from a restaurant - how do you go from that to breaking a car window??
By the way, I never commented about the prayer breakfast. What a bummer that you guys were sick and that Obama and Hillary couldn't make it. BUT, your toes look great!!! Ever consider becoming a foot model?
Funny, Jennifer! I'm LOL about the Splenda packet because Roy is the same way. If I take extra straws or Splenda, he gets SO mad and tells me I'm stealing! What?! This past fall he was getting ready to go on a road trip and I made him a bunch of sandwiches. We ate a last meal together at Panera and he went up to the counter to ask the lady if he could BUY some mustard and mayo packets and napkins from her to take on the road! The lady looked at him like he was crazy and told him he could go ahead and just take them for free! I was trying not to laugh. I guess I married an honest Joe.
I know how you feel...I felt the same way when David's truck was broken into last summer. The selfishness of it all is still beyond me. I hope the repair work goes smoothly.
What is wrong with people? Maybe he really needed that DVD player...and thought he'd give you guys a hammer as payment. I wonder if the cops can get fingerprints from it? If there were pics of the crime scene, I would nominate your blog for some serious awards, that's dedication!
So sorry Donna. Juete's truck was broken into a couple of years ago on Timberlake Road while we were eating dinner. They stole his computer. It leaves a pit in your stomach when that happens. Remember when Dawn's purse was stolen from the car at Crown Sterling? Every time we go there I think of that. At least they didn't steal anything with your personal information on it!!
Okay Donna, that is HILARIOUS that your husband asked to pay for mustard and mayo packets! They must have looked at him like he was crazy. So cute though and says so much about him. Of course, what would you expect from a descendant of Paw Paw!
Then you've got the opposite extreme - I don't think my father-in-law has ever paid for a box of Splenda. He unloads the restaurants stash and takes them home. I'm always kicking my husband under the table when he does it.
Jennifer! LOL!!!!!
