Do these names ring a bell? Mylin, Mowava, Chase, DeeDee, Damon, Tiffany, Tony. Okay, enough. If you watched the Disney Channel in 1989-90 you'd know these names were none other than the coolest kids on television--and I'm not referring to Kids Incoporated. Today I had the E! True Hollywood Story (do you like how I put the exclamation mark after "E"?) on and it was about the Mickey Mouse Club!! I got so excited because everyday at 5:00, two of my sisters and I would meet in the family room to watch The New Mickey Mouse Club. Actually, it was the closest thing to anything "rock" or "worldy" that we were able to watch so we devoured those thirty minutes of television. And at the end when the mouseketeers sang the theme song, (it would start slow and then break into an awesome rap/dance mix routine) we would hop off the couch and break... it... down. Then we'd be out of breath and had to go help get dinner ready. Remember how Chase, DeeDee, Tiffany, Damon and Albert had their own music group called "The Party"? That was so cool.
Anyway, it was fun to see the old faces all grown up. My sister, Dawn, liked Damon if I remember correctly. Dolly tried to be like Tiffany and I was just glad that my two cool sisters were letting their 9-year-old sister hang out with them! No, I thought DeeDee was really pretty. I think we outgrew the coolness of the show after those first two seasons, though, because I don't remember when Britney, Justin and Christina were on there. We were so past the Mickey Mouse Club by then.
Ahhhh, memories.

I was laughing the whole time while reading your description of those Mickey Mouse club years. It really WAS the closest thing to rock that we were allowed to watch and I do remember breaking it down during the rap part then being out of breath when it was over. I never wanted those 30 mins to end. I really liked Britney too and I loved those music videos they would do. Ah, the good old days.
By the way...who are Mylin and Tony? I don't remember them. I remember a Fred and Muwava, Tiffany, Brandy, Chase, Dee Dee.
I cannot remember you girls watching that. I was probably hiding in the pantry eating Little Debbie brownies. They are sooo good!
Denise, you're funny! You were probably at school during that time keeping the books for the Volleyball and basketball games. I used to think you were so smart and cool for doing that.
That is so cute!! I have a total visual of you guys so excited watching the Mickey Mouse club then busting a move with the rap song.
Don Don, you have a way with words when it comes to bringing back the good ole days! Denise, all I have to say is LOL...you are a hoot. GOOD post, GOOOOD post.
Dolly, I cannot believe you don't remember Mylin. She was kinda Asian/Caucasian. Actually I forgot about alot of them, too, but when they'd be interviewed on the show, I was like "Oh! I remember her!". Those shows are always on E, so look for it.
BTW, I don't remember Britney being on there. Maybe you still watched it after I did?
i was also there for many of those viewings of the show! if i recall, dolly and i would try to imitate the dance moves and make our own videos!
