Straight From My Little House on the Prairie

Today, Caroline and I took some of the berries we picked at our local strawberry farm and turned them into...
This!  TADA!

I have always wanted to try canning, but I thought it sounded too difficult and too "science-y", which I am not good at:)  But I recently watched an episode of The Pioneer Woman and she made fresh strawberry jam that looked pretty simple.  So, I researched canning, got my supplies and my courage up and did it!  It was very easy, took hardly any time and, I have to say, I'm proud of myself!!  I CAN be Ma Ingalls!

As I put the dishes in the sink to wash up, I licked some of the goop from the spoon and it was delish  I don't think I'll have to buy any more Schmuckers or Welch's any time soon.  Next up, more batches because we picked way too many berries and then...I'm going to try my hand at tomatoes:)

That is wonderful to hear! I have wanted to try canning but afraid to - seemed to hard. That is great! I'm sure tomatoes would be good too - Dell Moore is always canning.
