Girl Time!

Here's a little of what's been going on here in the Queen City:

1. We went to a birthday party on Saturday at a huge indoor playground. There were about 50 kids running around the play area and I realized that I should probably check RoyBoy's diaper. After grabbing him, I realized that he had pooped so into the bathroom we went. As I pulled off his shorts, I noticed that some of his poop had popped out the side of his diaper and his thigh was covered in it....and the inside of his shorts!! Now, I have not brought a change of clothes for him along with me for at least a year or more. I haven't had to! The party had just started so we couldn't go home. I used every wipe I could to clean up the mess and then I stood there at the sink rinsing out the left leg of his shorts--as he was pumping out tons of soap from the dispenser onto the counter. It was awful! He went back out to play with a wet left side but could have cared less. I felt so gross, he smelled so gross and I'm sure somewhere in that 3-story playground there was some nastiness lingering around! Yikes!

2. Last week my mother-in-law offered to come steal Roy Austin for a few days. Roy has been out of town, and my nesting has truly begun, so I thought a few days with just Caroline and being able to get some cleaning and organizing done would be nice! He was SO excited to go to Boone. When he woke up from his nap on Sunday, he couldn't help me pack his stuff fast enough. He stuffed his stuffed pup and blankie into his bag and eagerly climbed into Nana's car! I have to admit that it has been nice these past few days with just me and Caroline. I have cleaned things out, organized my new maternity wardrobe, started a yard sale pile. It feels good! And my house has stayed clean on top of it all! Caroline has enjoyed the extra attention, too. Tomorrow, our little guy comes back and I am excited to see him:)

3. Caroline has really been in tune to my pregnancy. It's so neat to share it with her and know that she'll remember this time in our lives. She always wants to know what our baby looks like for the week and what he/she is doing in the development stage. The other night I told her that the baby can now wince and suck his thumb. Her mouth and eyes got really big and she said, "Mommy! Last week, he couldn't even bring his arms together!". She laughed really hard when I told her the baby can peepee inside my tummy:)

4. She's also been so cautious about me. The other night we were at the mall eating dinner and I was leaning on the table. She pulled the table away from me at an angle and told me she wanted to give my belly more room. About 2 weeks ago, Roy and I were getting ready to work out and she told me I "really shouldn't work out with a baby in my tummy". I assured her that it was okay and it was actually good for our baby. She thought for a second and then said, "Well, just be careful, okay?". She's constantly telling me to go ahead and eat because she "knows that my baby is making me hungry" and every time she sits on my lap, so is so careful. It's so sweet how sweet she is. Thank you, Lord, that she is our oldest!!!

5. I am still feeling great. I honestly cannot believe how well and how fast this pregnancy has gone. The cravings for turkey and pickles are slowly fading away. I still like to eat them but I don't have to have them daily:) I have to say that I am a little overwhelmed with all that we have to do before this baby comes in October. When I think about it, I get a little stressed. It's funny how with your first baby, you can't wait to get started on the nursery and by the time you've had a few, you keep putting the idea off until later. I've got some ideas, but I can't seem to get started!

So, nothing big going on here. It is going to be a crazy May for us, though, and a busy summer! I'm enjoying these slow days:)

Glad you had some girl time with Caroline. Fun for Roy Austin too! Shae was 5 when I was pregnant with her sister (7 with her next sister) and it REALLY is nice to have a girl to share it with! She and I are VERY close and I will miss her terribly when she leaves for LU!

I hope you continue to feel good, and get lots done so you will be able to relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy

When will you know what this baby is? Or will you find out!?

I'm glad God gave you Caroline first. She's going to be a lot of fun to watch grow up and have to help you with the others. She's a sweet girl, that's for sure! I love how she's concerned your belly has enough room when you were at the table. So cute! Can't wait to see you all on Thursday. Oh, and Gib wants to do a game night one night.

Caroline is sooo sweet!! Donna, I had you due in January and then someone - maybe Kim Hall figured November so when in October is the baby due? Just my opinion of course, but I don't think you should find out whether the baby is a boy or girl. The room color is suitable either way - right?

Great post!!! I laughed at the RoyBoy incident. I could just smell it! WHEW!!!

That is so sweet about Caroline being so concerned. She is going to be the best big sister. That is funny about the table. You would think that you were 10 months pregnant and weighed 300 lbs. Funny!

Okay, those ball pits and play grounds can be gross. I am so glad that Chick Fil A doesn't have them. There is NO telling what is hiding in the bottom of them.

Caroline is so sweet! I am so glad she is ole enough to understand this pregnancy. And wow, home for a few days with just ONE child! A clean house??!!! Somebody pinch me! Am I dreamin?????
