Introdcuing Our Sweet Charlotte

Charlotte McCue Graham
October 5, 2010
7.6 lbs, 19.5 inches

Yesterday morning, we welcomed our sweet baby Charlotte into the world. It was so fun entering the operating room and not knowing what sex the baby was. When the doctor told Roy to stand up to watch the baby be pulled out, it was so neat! I was so anxious to hear, and when they said "It's a Girl!" I just started crying like crazy!! She entered as a feisty thing, crying and screaming for the first 5 minutes or so. I think she'll be able to handle herself quite well as our youngest:)

We named her Charlotte McCue. Roy has always loved the name, Charlotte. Yes, we realize we live in Charlotte, NC, but she's not named after this city. McCue was the middle name of Roy's grandmother, Ruth McCue Bell Graham, so she is named after her:

I have to say that I was SO incredibly sad whenever I was in the preparation room and Dr. Pixley walked in. I knew instantly that my OB, who has delivered our other two children, wouldn't be there. Dr. Pixley said that she was in bed sick with a sinus infection and had just called and said she felt terrible that she couldn't be there. I wanted to cry, but I have to say that Pixley came through for me. He was great!

We were in the recovery room forever, it seemed like! We finally decided to bring the family back to us because it was taking a long time for the feeling to come back to my legs. Everyone was so happy and excited to meet Charlotte:
My parents bought these "Proud Grandma" and "Proud Grandpa" buttons at the hospital gift shop when Maddie was born almost 13 years ago. They proudly wear them at each delivery of a grandchild. This was number 13!

Miss Charlotte is so cuddly and sweet. I love her dearly and love snuggling with her!
Auntie Dolly drove down for the day:

Nana came down for the day, too. Charlotte is her 7th grandchild:

Okay, this was one of my favorite parts of the day. Caroline and RoyBoy came over after dinner to meet their baby sister. They were so happy and their expressions were priceless:

RoyBoy, especially, was adorable. He was genuinely excited and so happy when he laid his eyes on her. He just stared and stared at her. One of the main reasons I wanted this baby to be a girl was because I wanted RoyBoy to be the only boy in our family. With him being in the middle, I never wanted him to feel replaced or that he was a "middle child". I never wanted him to have to feel like he had to compete. By his reaction so far, it looks like he'll be a true protector to his baby sis:

Daddy and his girls:

Roy Austin sharing his new super hero toys and silly bands:

We are having a great time just hanging out here at CMC. I have to say that I LOVE my hospital time! It's like a mini-retreat. And the staff here at CMC are great, too. Charlotte and I are enjoying our rest and the visitors and calls/emails. Thanks for all of your sweet words. They mean a lot to all of us!

And a B-I-G thankful shoutout goes out to my big sister, Dawn, for all the help she's given our family this past week. She is truly a gem. She has taken charge of our house and has taken such good care of the kids. She's taken them and picked them up from school, speech therapy, cleaned the house, etc. and she's done it all with a smile on her face! I truly appreciate it. Thank you, Dawnie!! I love you:)

Congratulations Donna to you and your family! Another beautiful girl to add to the long line of beauties in your family! Her name is perfect! We have a girl-boy-girl pattern in our trio and I have always loved that Leif (my son) was the only boy and that he was in the middle so that he would be special. Have fun!!!

Okay, first of all, I had no idea she was named after Roy's grandmother! I thought you guys just came up with a really cool name! How special. Little Charlotte will not only be named after her great gramma, but a giant of the faith. I love when names have history!

The pictures are so sweet. She looks like a snuggle bunny. What a blessing that you are surrounded by so much family at this time. Your post made me smile!

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations, Donna! You're little Charlotte (I LOVE that name!) is already a beauty with all that lovely dark hair. You look amazing in the pictures...I hope you are feeling as good as you look, my friend! I love those buttons that your parents have on and how they wear them to the birth of ALL their many grandchildren-very sweet. What a special moment when your other children get to meet their baby sibling;I forgot to get a picture of that in the hospital! I'm so mad at myself...hopefully there is a next time so I can remedy that oversight :) Be gracious to yourself as you adjust to life with another child. Love to you and your new baby girl!!
