Us at 28 weeks!
A few weeks ago, I had a friend on Facebook forward me one of her friend's blogs. This friend of hers was getting ready to welcome a new baby into the family and she thought I'd like a recent post she had written.
This third pregnancy has been so different from my other two. I've felt better, had more energy-- I've truly enjoyed this one the most. I often find myself remembering when I was pregnant with Caroline and getting ready to have my life change forever. I was SO excited. By this time (28 weeks), I had her nursery just about done, clothes were washed and hung. I would go in her closet every day and go through them all, imagining her in them. I had begun to stockpile the diapers and wipes, birthing classes were booked. I was SO on the ball. First babies are very different!! With RoyBoy, I was more relaxed but I had begun to buy things because we knew we were having a boy and the planning was a lot easier.
This pregnancy is different. First of all, its flying by. I can't believe in 9 weeks we could have our baby here! I guess it's a little strange because I don't know the sex. With the other two, they seemed to be individuals from the time we found out what they were. We called them by their names, began dreaming about what they would be like and do, and the planning was easier. With this one, it's like s/he and I are just one big thing--not individuals. It's just "us". We call it "the baby" or "he", "she" and of course, "Poopie Baby". It's just different.
So, back to my friend's friend's blog. Long story short, she saw a new doctor at her clinic and he asked them where they went to church, etc. They are Christians but they were still taken back that a doctor would be so bold in asking them about their faith. He then wrote on a prescription pad "Psalm 139" and instructed the couple to read it out loud to each other. He then wrote the word "Laminin" and told them to google it. Then he told them to read Colossians 1:16-17 and focus on where it says "He holds ALL things together...". She said they wanted to pick their jaws off of the floor when they left! (Side note: this doctor is Roy's 2nd cousin through marriage...a wonderful, Christian doctor at the same practice I go to. He prays with all of his patients. When we were in labor with RoyBoy, he came in our room and prayed with us before my C-section and asked God to guide my doctor's hands and give us a safe delivery! He's great! I'd go to him if I didn't love my own doctor!!). Anyway, this is what they found when the googled "laminin":

Laminin: a cell adhesive molecule. It's the foundation that holds the membranes in our bodies together. Read more about it here, if you want. Isn't this so cool? I don't think it's a coincidence that it's in the shape of a cross! When I first read this, I got chills and I instantly was reminded that although we may not know this sweet child in my belly and his/her sex may be a mystery, God knows! He has from the start and it is in His perfect will--whatever it is--that this child be in our family! When we hold this sweet blessing for the first time, it will be straight from God's hands into our arms, and we cannot wait!
Colossians 1: 16-17
"For by Him all things were created in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things and in Him all things are held together."

Very sweet post! Send me the link to that girls blog please, I want to read it!
You look great Donna. This preg has gone by fast!
Hey where are you tonight. I called you but no one answered.
I loved this post. I love pregnancy and the whole miracle of birth. It's neat that this pregnancy has been different from both of your others. I can't believe he/she could be here in 9 weeks! I want to get down to Charlotte before then and help do things before the baby comes. And I cannot wait to see what God has for your family. Oh, and you look SO GOOD Donna! You've done great with this pregnancy!
Yes....you DO look good. I love your little baby belly, and whatever is in there....baby girl or baby boy....they will be loved beyond compare. What a blessing to bring a little life into the world, and then love, influence, train, and bring that little life to the knowledge of the Lord. They are the only things we'll be able to take to heaven with us.
These next 9 weeks will go awfully fast. Enjoy them as you prepare for this new litte one. ILY
Hey Donna! I don't ever comment on here, but I LOVE reading your blog. I found your blog thru Windsor's a long time ago and have just followed it. I love how you write ...very entertaining!
Anyway, I just wanted to say 2 things.
1)I got chills and tears reading this post. What an amazing doctor. And what a beautiful reminder that He is totally and completely the one in control, holding your precious baby together.
2)Holy moly, I cannot get over how tiny you are! I just had my 4th baby in January and I was about your size times 8! You look amazing!
PS. I think its so fun you are going to be surprised. We also were surprised this time around and it was so much anticipation in that room! Hope the rest of your pregnancy continues to be smooth and easy for you!
You do look great! Just a little basketball in the front. This pregnancy has gone super fast. I think it is because you were so patient in announcing it. I can't wait to find out what it is and I really can't wait to go to your shower and be the treasurer for all the cash. HA! (Inside joke re: a dream I had about her)
What you shared is so incredible. I am going to research this more and show my kids. Thank you for sharing it. I love it! God is so precise and so good!!!!
You look wonderful Donna! And I just love the information you shared.
Donna, you look great! If you have few minutes to yourself go to youtube and look up Lou Guiglio on Laminin. It is a great 8 or so minute video and brought tears to my eyes to know that our God cares so much about us right down to the little details of our bodies.
Donna, I love your recent posts. This one made me cry and get very emotional. I am praying for you and your precious one that is growing inside you and will soon be in your arms and is already loved.
You look great!! I first heard about laminin about three years ago when Louie Giglio (one of my favorite Bible teachers) taught about it on the How Great Is Our God tour. Here is the link to part of his talk.....amazing! Still brings tears to my eyes. We truly are fearfully & wonderfully made!
