This morning, Roy left for Chile and Costa Rica for a few days. Last night our family went out for dinner and to get ice cream to send him off with a full belly. We normally go get ice cream at our local Marble Slab, where there is a nice outside courtyard with fountains and nice lit up trees. Last night was a little bit breezy, but we ate our ice cream outside by the fountains anyway. The kids enjoyed climbing the stairs and pillars and running around in the open space. I was sharing my cone with Roy Austin, who would take a bite, run around and then come back for another bite.
Well, he came back for a bite and I noticed him chewing something. "That's weird", I thought. "I don't have anything chewable mixed in with my ice cream?". As I bent down to get a better look, I did a little finger-sweep and noticed something orangish-tan inside his mouth. "Is that a pretzel?", I thought again. Nope.
I quickly flung out the nastiness that was in him mouth and let out a big scream: "GROSS!!". The family near us even stopped to look. He had a disgusting 1-inch cigarette butt in his mouth!! Oh, just thinking about it and reliving the sight makes me want to gag. Roy laughed so hard and I wanted to cry. My sweet boy was chewing on someone's nasty cigarette!!! The thing is, he obviously had it in his mouth for a while because it was soggy and very chewed on and he wasn't making a disgusted face. I'm so sad that at his tender age of almost 18 months, he's already tasted nicotine and nasty ash. Please, Jesus, let that be RoyBoy's first and last cigarette!

Donna, I just have a feeling this is the beginning of nasty stories with your child, that boy is ALL boy! His father is RAG, by the way!

DONNA GRAHAM...I literally felt pain in my stomach muscles (what's left of them) from laughing out loud and so hard on this one! What I wouldn't have given to see that whole thing play out...priceless! I loved your description of the cig after he had been chewing on it...can totally visualize what it must have looked like.
And you know what that means - RA2 had a cigarette in his mouth, he licked your ice cream, then you licked it which means you licked someone's nasty cigarette too!!

Why do children willingly put NASTY things in their mouths??? Cigarettes, trash, gum from the ground, boogers??! Will they willingly eat vegetables? No - but something odd on the ground - why not?!

Ohhhhhhh Yuck!!!!!! I agree with Kristi....why do toddlers put everything in their mouths, except the good food we try to feed them? It just doesn't make sense. You'd think with that nasty, fiber/paper/tobacco/burnt taste in RA's mouth, he'd spit it out. Must have tasted good!!!

GROSS! GROSS! GROSS!!! Oh my word. That is just plain nasty. They should pass a law that makes the people that throw cigs on the ground, pick them back up and eat them! Poor Roy.

It is a shame Purel is toxic to swallow. I would've had him gargling with it. HA! Now, you need to start clipping coupons for the nicotine patch or nicorest gum. LOL!
Well, his great grandfather use to own a tobacco company and smoke and chew tobacco....sooooooooo!!!! Maybe he was just checking it out to make sure he didn't like it!!! Nasty nasty......

Well, what do you expect after HIS ENTIRE FAMILY terrorized him with that creepy ball! The boy had to let off some steam somehow!
That is so nasty, but don't feel bad, we have geese at camp during the off season and at the beginning of summer, so they poop everywhere around the beach! Well, 2 of my girls have eaten (or tried to) goose poop when they were younger (and only one of the 2 is mentally challenged!! haha!)
Ok, I must say, that is disgusting.....but so funny! Sorry. :) Yet another reason why people should not smoke!
