Coke and Spidey

Yesterday we took a little trip up to Boone to see Roy's new prize. He has been talking about this for months and yesterday was THE day. Last Fall, he purchased an original 1937 Coca-Cola drink chest for $100. He was so proud of it and couldn't wait to refinish it. When I saw it, I was a little concerned that he had spent $100 on it! Well, it has been refinished and let me just say that once again, my husband is a true "out of the box thinker"!! He has a gift to see the finished product even when the product looks like junk. Yesterday, he was SO excited, proud, happy....every good emotion imaginable:

Here is the proud coke boy in front of his new toy. Everything has been refinished to it's original condition.

Now we have to figure out where to place this thing!

Another exciting piece of news this week is my huge sore on my arm. I noticed I had a bruised feeling on my right forearm on Monday afternoon. It just felt like I had an internal bruise. On Tuesday night, it started to raise up into a large, red knot that was so sore to the touch. On Wednesday morning, it was even bigger and my entire arm was sore. I had two doctors look at it and they think I had a brown recluse spider bite my arm! All I can say is that today the bump is bigger, redder (is that a word?!) and my arm is extremely sore. It hurts very, very badly. When I touch the bump, it feels like I'm jabbing glass into my arm. This morning when I woke up and told Roy that my arm hurt even worse than yesterday, he told me to flick my wrist out. He had a straight face, so I was thinking that maybe this would help relax the muscles or something. So I did it, only to have him smile and say that this is how Peter Parker became Spider Man, so maybe a spider bite would make me be able to shoot out webs from my fingers. Haha. I can only imagine how Roy would be if a brown recluse bit him.

Taking a picture with my left hand is not easy! Do you see the red knot right below my wrist? It looks and feels like an egg.

Hey donna! The bump looks a lil painful! Yikes...did the docs write you an antitiobitic?

Oh my goodness . . . I had a spider bite once on my foot right before our wedding and it was super painful! Hopefully it will go down soon. I'll be praying that it is less painful.

WOW, that thing is a B-E-A-Ut!!!! I can see it in a bonus room w/ a pool table, foosball table and a 10 pointer up on the wall!!!! Were are you going to put it? The kids will LOVE getting treats out of it. You can put popsicles and ice cream sammiches in it, too!

As for your arm, OH MY WORD. Are they going to give you an antibiotic.Wouldn't you have seen a brown recluse or felt it if it had been on your arm? I'd like to see you scale down the side of a building!

Whatever you do, I hope you didn't see Oprah the day before yesterday. I never watch her but just happened to catch a snippit and it was a big mistake. If you DVRed it, might want to DELETE.

Ouch! The knot looks really painful. Did the doc say if there was anything that you/they could do for it? And I like your new Coca Cola machine! We are in Atlanta for the Orange Conference & went to the Coca Cola museum yesterday. It was neat!

Haha! Hey Spidergirl - that is HI-LAR-I-OUS!!! You've got a funny one there. Love it! A husband that can make jokes at his sufferring sife's expense is my kind of guy (since I married one!). That makes me think you guys must have such a fun relationship. Tell you Roy you deserve a spa day for this one.

One more thing Donna...how are you feeling? Like, any achiness or fever, nausea? Anything like that? Sorry for all the questions...just checking (playing nurse...=)

Oh, Love the coke machine too! Gotta put the old fashioned coke bottles in there! Mmmm....

Love the Coke cooler! My sister has one (not nearly as old!) that came with the last house they bought. I get a huge thrill out of pulling an icy Coke or Cheerwine (even better) from it when I visit. Definitely a cool thing for Roy to find.

Wow! That Coke cooler is really neat. I can tell Roy is SO PROUD in that picture and the fact you were getting pictures of it to post on your blog probably made him even more proud! haha!

That spider bite looks scary. Are you afraid if you poke it that lots of little spiders will start crawling out from your skin? oooooh! That thought gives me the chills. Glad you had two dr's look at it. Keep us posted on it and sorry it's so painful! Wait, maybe it's a pimple on your arm? Just a thought!

Dolly, beleive me, I asked that question!! I've heard stories about spiders laying eggs in people's skin. They said that probably didn't happen:) I hope not!!! I think I would die if that happened.

Elizabeth, I feel okay...no nausea or dizziness. My arm is just sore at the welt spot and at my upper arm (tricep area).

Ouch! Will that affect your ability to do the hip swing or the elevator?

Maybe you and Roy can travel around to some carnivals this summer and sell BBQ out of the smoker and Cokes out of the Cola chest! :)

I got bit by a brown recluse a few years ago and it was horrible it was on my leg and ended up the size of a grapefruit and was burning hot to the touch. They ended up giving me a shot of something right in the core of the bite...horrible. I wont even gross you out with the detais of what happened after that, but lets just say there was lots of puss and infection in there! YUCK! I hate the word puss! I am sure you are gagging now.

Elizibeth is cracking me up with all the questions...Look out for the nurse in training! :)

OUCH, Donna! Bless your heart...tell that Roy to take good care of you! :)

Owwww! Your poor arm! Can you lift Roy Austin?

The Coke cooler is awesome! How cute to have it on your porch while you are having a party and have Coke bottles in it!

....is the bite affecting your ability to cut out coupons??????

Hannah, I just fainted in the floor at your comment. YUK!!! I bet you pick at your husband's back zits don't ya???? OK, I need to hush b/c I'm getting woozy again.

Donna, that Coke machine is so cute. I think you should plug it in in your living room right next to the couch. That way when you are watch TV you don't have to bother with walking ALL THE WAY into the kitchen for a drink....you can just pop something out of the handy-dandy Coke machine. NICE!!!

I'm sorry about your arm. I hope it starts going away soon. As Inger says, you've got coupons to clip. HA!

NICE coke freezer! Roy is so talented! Let us know where you decide to place it -

And your arm - yikes! I hope it gets better soon.

See, when I get your posts on email I forget to go to your actual blog and comment...that's why I'm always late.

Okay, I got the shivers when I read what Dolly said about little spiders. I've heard that too...where they lay eggs. Oh my word, can you even imagine? It would be a great blog post though - know what I mean? Well, I hope it's feeling better today. Things like that are such a pain in the neck to deal with...or should I say pain in the arm. :)

I love the Coke machine and I'm assuming it really works and keeps those bottles realy cold? Good for Roy to do something like that.

Oh and Nikki's explanation of her "grapefuit" was NICE. Oh my goodness, did you lose a few pounds after that sucker drained? YUCK! :)

I LOVE that coke cooler! Where did you guys find that??

That spider bite sure is a nasty one! You might want to talk to Angela R. because I think I remember her saying she was bitten by one before. Just to triple make sure that IS what you have.
Hope you feel better soon :)
