Flashback Friday

I was going through some old pictures this week and found these from some old family vacations. I may make "Flashback Friday" a weekly post. We'll see.
This was from Reber Family Vacation out West, I think the summer of '95. This was fun because I remember all 5 of us girls shared the same hotel room and we had lots of laughs and giggles at night while watching TV (Sanford and Sons!!). Here we are in San Diego (I think).

First off, nice shoes Mom. Denise has on a shirt that we all thought was so cool and LOVED to borrow. It had 3 pictures of Sam and Libby shoes across the chest and it said "Sam and Libby" underneath. So cool. Yes, that's her in the matching yellow shorts. And Dayna, are those your "camo shorts"? (inside joke).

Now who's the cool one. I am on the far right sporting some sweet K Swiss tennis shoes and sporting a major 'tude. Check out my pose and that scrunchie on my wrist. Actually, I think all of us are wearing either Keds or K Swiss'. Those pure white shoes sure do bring out our tans!! This was the night Daddy took all of us to see Pocahontas at the El Capitan Theater.

Here we are at the Grand Canyon, same trip. Don't we look like a fun bunch?! I remember trying to copy Dawn and Dolly in this picture.

This is when we went to Israel in 1996. Many memories on this trip. Denise may look happy, but she was MISERABLE because she was love sick for Danny and I was the lucky roommate who had to put up with it. They got engaged the next week. I am laughing OUT LOUD at Dolly's warm up suit. If I remember correctly, this was Denise's outfit. She must have been the one with the clothes we all wanted to borrow?! Believe it or not, this outfit was so cool and again, I think we all borrowed it. And Caroline must get her dress-wearing-love honestly. Me and my Grandmother are definitely the ladies in the bunch.

I'll see what other memories I can pull out for next week. Happy Friday, Everyone!

Fun....I want to see them when I am down there. Those pictures are too small and I can't see the shoes! When you get old you can't see so well...

VERY funny post! Good memories, gooood memories.

Boy we were some sun goddesses! I don't think I have that tan since that summer.

Ahhh those were the days. All we girls had to do was get up, get in our cars and go to school. No bills, no worries. We were so well taken care of. So spoiled!

Thanks Mom and Daddy for being so good to us..."You're simply the best....better than all the rest...better than anyone...anyone I've ever met." (is that how the song goes?)

Donna that jacket you are wearing in the Isreal picture. Remember that. It was a cool one too--I think it was mine and when I was tired of it I gave it to you.

I may have had cool clothes years ago, but you and Dolly have outdone me now. Now I am trying be like you. You should have seen me trying on some "Seven" jeans in Marshalls on Tuesday. I had to call Dolly for moral support.

Love the alliteration and the theming, Donnie...can never have too much themage!

Those are a hoot. Aaaahhhhhh, the days of family vacations. Those were the best!

I wish I could click on the pics to make them bigger. In a couple, ya'll are so tanned and blonde that it's hard to tell you apart. I especially wanna zoom in on Dolly's warm up and Denise's hot tee! I was pleased to see the progeninator (sp?). Love him!

Yeah, what happened? I always thought Dawn was the cool one when it came to clothes and shoes. I guess you all really liked Denise's clothes!! Nobody wanted to borrow my camo shorts?!

I agree with Denise. Those were the days. We didn't know how good we had it. Not that we don't have a good life now...but then it was no worries!!

Mom and Dad, you all took such good care to take us places and show us things. I know now that it must not have been easy for you all to take us on so many trips but thank you. We have been to some wonderful places and have many fond memories. I know that when our children get just a bit older that we will be doing some of the same things. Thank you so much!!

Good post Donna. Keep those memories flowing!!

Donna, I'm sure the reason you thought you were so cool at the theater was due to the fact that we were in "Hollywood" you favorite and it was the first ever trip to the movies! It was cool!

You guys do look like a fun bunch. How did you end up with all the pictures? Does everyone have copies of these???

Dolly looks cool even in that jumpsuit. She could have painted her face blue and we all would have done it!

Donna, I remember those shoes from the Israel picture. Weren't they Dolly's? I remember something about you wanting to borrow them & she charged you money, so you just bought your own pair, or something like that. It made me laugh.

Donna said...

Oh my goodness, Deborah! How did you remember that? I think you're right!! Dolly had a pair that I LOVED and wore all the time. She finally said she was going to charge me to wear them (and I think she did once!!) so I took my babysitting money and bought my own pair. They are so ugly and big! I can't believe I thought they were so cool:) I think I wore them so often that they ended up smelling SO bad.

I love Flashback Friday! I am literally laughing so hard right now. Lovin Dolly's warm up suit. That is a classic. I am also laughing about Denise missing Danny on the Isreal trip. I remeber when you guys came back from the trip and Denise was telling me all about it and how miserable it was! FUNNY! Ahhh...Sam & Libby shirt, good memories!

Denise you are talking about getting up and going to school and etc.......well if I remember, you were little Miss Homemaker making sure everyone did their jobs!!!! I remember how you always made us feel so welcomed and fed us back there in the 90's. I thought you were most impressive....Sweet memories your parents have given you.

I'm SHAKING and LOL at this post and all the comments. First of all, I CHARGED YOU MONEY TO BORROW MY SHOES????? What in the word? I don't remember that at all but it's a pretty good way to make a little extra cash I guess. I think those shoes were Esprit! Hahahah! Good memories for sure in those pics. Even though I'm so happy with life now sometimes I wish we could all go back to those days. They were so fun and I'm also thankful for all the places mom and daddy took us. Unforgettable! And yes, that was Denise's warm up suit. I thought I was BAD to the BONE in that thing. Embarrsing!

Mrs. Graham- you are so sweet to me!

I will never forget making pizza for you in my parents kitchen, the first time I met you.

Later I called my parents at the beach and told them about my day. They were said, "WHAT??? You made Jane Graham pizza?"

Now look what has happened over the years!

AND, every time I say "at" I think you you--and Will who would always correct me!

Denise said...

Yikes! I cannot type!

I laughed out loud at Dolly's warm up suit too! This was so fun - what a great idea, Donna. I also love you girls writing such sweet things to your parents in the comments.
Thanks for sharing the memories, Donna.

Oh Donna, you made my night! Dolly in the warm up suit is a classic. Was it the kind that swished when you walked? BEST POST!

Dolly said...

I see I am the one everyone seems to think is SO FUNNY! Yes Jenny, that "suit" was the kind that swished when you walked. Admit it, you had one too!

Donna, I'm wondering too how you have all these pics. Do you steal them from moms house when you're home? I can never seem to find pictures that I'm looking for when I go to Moms house. How many more do you have? I guess we'll start finding out come Flashback Friday.

How have I missed this post????? This is HILARIOUS!! You do need to start doing Flashback Friday. That would be a great theme for all of us to do.

You all are too cool for words. I can just sense the diva, fashioneesta, attitudes just oozing out of all your stylin' selves. Dolly, I laughed at the windsuit. I had one similar that was teal grean. I actually thought it was neat when I walked really fast and it made that zipping sound. Now, I am loving the K-SWISS. Those were my all-time favorite tennis shoes at LU. I felt like a real woman when I had on my K-Swiss. Ha!

Donna, I am glad to see you have broken free from your legalism and that you have embraced wearing "slacks". I am glad that you were the holy one on that trip since you were in Jesus' birthplace. Can't be sporting tight jeans in the Holy land, now. LOL!

Donna said...

Okay, you caught me. Yes, each time I go home to visit, I make sure nobody's looking and I sneak into the photo albums and steal pics of us all growing up. I have BOXES of them all in my upstairs closet.

I don't know how I ended up with those pics. I think they were taken on my camera?? I don't know! Funny:)

I'm late getting to this post and what a doozy it is! I'm actually loving how all the pants worn by you girls were baggy in the hip/thigh area and then came down so nicely to a VERY tapered leg...that is always so good for the figure.

PLEASE, PLEASE keep the Flashback Friday going...these are gems!

I am so late to this post ... I get caught up on the weekends. it is after 11 on Friday night - I know, pitiful, I have no life. But I am sitting here about to pee my pants laughing so hard at Dolly's suit and your dress. I love Flashback Fridays! Can't wait till next week.
