What you are about to read is me ranting.....
I mentioned in a previous post that we don't get Fox News. The package that we get from Dish Network only gives us CNN and Headline news, much to our--especially Roy's--dismay. So, I have been watching CNN all week for the latest news on Hurricane Gustav and the Republican National Convention and it's making me SO mad how biased they are!!! I feel like my Russian grandmother who used to talk to the television all day long when she'd visit us. She would watch her preaching shows and talk to the pastor, or she'd watch the news and say things like, "Terrible. Terrible". That's how I've been all week...getting angry with Wolf Blitzer, putting my hands on my hips and looking at the TV in disbelief when Obama-obsessed Campbell Brown takes on the Republican strategists. Oh, it's making my blood boil!!! What I would do to have Campbell all to myself in a room for just two minutes!
Well, Glenn Beck, who for the most part seems pretty conservative, was just on and he brought up some very interesting points. The new issue of US Weekly--which I am guilty of reading occasionally--has a picture of Sarah Palin on it's cover this week where it states, "Babies, Lies, and Scandal". In it it talks about how her 4-month-old is really her grandchild. It also discusses "TrooperGate" which alleges that Palin called for the termination of her ex-brother-in-law's job as a state trooper. What US Weekly doesn't state is that this man was using his stun-gun on his family and threatened to kill the governor's father. Those are pretty important facts to leave out, guys. The article also suggests that people shouldn't vote for McCain/Palin because "she has iffy friends". Hmmmm. Didn't the media/Obama supporters tell us that friends didn't matter (hint, hint Obama's controversial friend, Reverend Wright?). Oh, and by the way US Weekly is owned and operated by a MAJOR Obama supporter. I just think it's crazy how biased the media is. It's outrageous.
Glenn Beck then went on to tell Wolf Blitzer that the news/media is supposed to be the most trusted source of information. If they are biased, how can people be sure that what they're hearing is truth? Wolf answered that they are "desperately trying" to report the truth. Interesting. With what I've seen these past few days, CNN seems to be desperately trying to report controversy. We may have to just break down and subscribe to the next package that includes FoxNews. I can't take this hypocrisy for another 2 months!!
I gotta go. Campbell just came back on...

Amen sista! My husband and I watched it this am and FoxNews showed the difference between the US Weekly cover this week vs the week that everyone found out about John Edwards...BIG difference!! Tonight is a big night...Sara is speaking at the RNC.
I was just getting ready to say "Amen, sister!" when I read the above comment. My husband is addicted to Fox news. I bet Julie could give you a play by play of what Fox News has to say!
First of all, I'm laughing of your description of Grandma Reber. I get it honest too. I find myself home alone and talking to the TV sometimes when I get mad at the news. I was watching the Today show this morning and Merideth was interviewing Mayor Gulliani (sp?) and was just attacking Sarah Palin but Gulliani stood his ground and gave it right back to her about how good Sarah Palin was and how perfect she is for this role. The media reallllllly makes my skin boil too! All media is pretty much liberal. I just keep going back I Peter 4:12-13 which says, "do not be surprised at the painful trail you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you but rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you! Amen and AMEN!
Woah, Dolly! I'm sitting here amazed at your wisdom. My head is slowly shaking back and forth and my mouth is hanging open, and I'm clapping! I'm STUNNED at your Biblcal answer...so maternal:)
Girl, I so have to comment on this post. I am right there with you!!! You should try listening to the Fox News station on the radio. Here it is 105.9. I've been listening to it for the past month and boy my blood pressure will never be the same.
It really is unbelievable how many things I didn't even realize were untrue from the mainstream media. Dolly's scripture it so perfect!
I have to say it again..AMEN! Oh it makes me so angry! I dont say that I hate many things but I truly HATE this whole thing! The media is ridiculous! It makes me so sad to think of all the people out there who are getting their entire education on how to vote from these people! I get so fired up I literally have to turn it off. Notice they NEVER talk about policy or anything else they should be unbiased in informing us of. Why is Obama not abandoning his two young daughters to be president but Palin is?...double standard, liberal idiots.
Oh yea..Dolly, I am printing that verse up right now and taping it to my TV and I am not kidding...Oh wise one
I'm with Jane in her comment yesterday that you should let CNN know just what you think of their bias. With all the emailing that everyone does, it wouldn't take long for anyone to zip off a comment or two to the newscasters who make you so mad. I'm going to send one off myself, right now. Let's all spread the word, and then hammer CNN with our anger at their bias reporting.
I totally agree. It makes me sick! When Obama was talking at his convention, one of the news anchors said that he speech was giving him "chills". Wow. Looks like they are all "drinking the water" over there! We only watch Fox News at my house. If you have Verizon Fios, I highly recommend it!
Fox News Fox News Fox News!!!! Order it Donna. It is the ONLY news station I can find who reports correctly. did anyone hear Thompson speak last night at the RC. He was great and spoke the truth about the "real democratic plan". I am waiting for Sara to speak as I am typing this!
Why don't you email CNN and complain? Get all your friends emailing CNN. I am telling you if enough people complain and say they will not watch them anymore and keep doing it they will listen.
I can't stand to watch them. They disgust me. Obama and his wife ....... oh dear.
Love you
I can't believe Sarah Palin doesn't speak until 10:30. I know, I know, that's not that late but I don't want to fall asleep and I really can't wait to hear her.
Another good post, Donna! I completely agree. The media is so obvious in their choice - they don't even try to hide it or appear to be unbiased.
Looking forward to Sarah's (aren't we on first name basis as carpool moms?) speech - I just hope I can stay awake late enough to watch it in it's entirety.
Oh Donna we are so on the same page! I can barely stand to listen to the news. I just let Brent tell me all the ugly things they are saying. It is so biased it's almost embarrassing. I am just making sure that everyone i know is going to the polls this year. no excuses, it is SO IMPORTANT!
Sarah just finished her speech...sign me up...I'm officially on the Straight Talk train...chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga CHOO CHOO!!!
Okay, after her speech when she took Trig from her husband's arms and said "my baby"...yes, I cried...and then cried some more. That little boy was just looking around and didn't even act like he wanted to cry. I think I may try and steal him (along with RA) too. :)
Oh, one more thing...did anyone see when her 7 year old daughter (Piper) was holding Trig during the speech...she licked her hand and wiped his hair down. HILARIOUS!!!
Go, Sarah --Go, Sarah --- her speech was brilliant! And of course, the news is already crucifying her for her "digs" at Obama. Truly is a double-standard in the media ---loved your post! And BTW, I talk to the TV all the time ---haha!
I know, Jennifer! I was at Bible Study last night so I haven't watched it yet. I taped it, though. Roy said that her daughter kept licking her hand and smoothing her brother's hair! He said it was the cutest thing:)
I did see her family all come on stage last night. That was so nice, and considering the circumstances, I thought it was very nice that the fiance of the daughter was there by her side.
I AM A PALIN FAN:)
Brilliant is the word to describe Sarah Palin and her speech last night. She did an INCREDIBLE job and made me so proud to be a Republican! She was right on and there is NO room for any critics to pick her apart after that speech. I did get teary a few times. First, when she got the incredible standing ovation when she first came out. Her daddy was getting teared up and you could tell her parents were so proud of her. And when she introduced her family. I'm a HUGE Palin fan for sure! I don't know if it's just because I'm a female too but I felt we really connected last night! :)
I CANNOT wait to see how this all shakes out in November. This woman has proved she can run with the best (and worst) of them. I can't wait to see your reaction to the speech! It was UNBELIEVABLE! I was cheering for her at one point from my sofa. You gotta check out my blog from last night Donna!
I just did a post on the US mag covers!
As for Campbell, we knew Fox News loved Palin after her speech last night but we wanted to know what the libbies were saying so we switched channels to ole CNN. Your girl, Campbell, was on there w/ your boy, Wolf and they were eatin their words!!!! They were saying GOOD things about Palin and Campbell even said she got emotional. Oh yeah....that's what I'm talkin about! They may have changed their stories today, though.
DRS, just read your comment. Powerful, I tell ya! This is the word of the Lord. Praise be to God. And all God's people SAID....MMMMM...POWERFUL!
