Please Pray

One of my childhood friends emailed me yesterday to let me know that her one-year-old son had passed away last Saturday. Although she and I lost contact when we went to college, we have emailed back and forth over the past few years. Even so, I cannot get her and her family out of my mind. When she was pregnant and had her ultrasound, it was discovered that her baby boy had a heart defect known as Hypo Plastic Left Heart Syndrome. The doctors told them that he would need a heart transplant in the near future. Other than that, he seemed to be a healthy boy. Dawn was in the hospital for the past 6 weeks with little CJ. He went into cardiac arrest last Thursday and then went to Heaven on Saturday. He was just over a year old.

When I read her email, it never left my mind and it honestly still hasn't. I have been praying for them all throughout the day. I just can't imagine all the pain and anguish that goes along with this situation. Going home and seeing his nursery and his crib. Seeing his carseat in the back of the car and his sippy cups. As I was folding Roy Austin's laundry from our vacation, I realized that she will have to see all of his tiny clothes hanging in his closet and face his changing table where he'll never get his diaper changed again. Oh, it's just so sad. Dawn and her husband are taking their two older children to Disney World this week before school begins for their son. Please pray for Dawn and Abe Myers and their family when you think about it. I can't stop.

I got this picture off of Dawn's brother's blog.

Thanks for posting about this Donna. I went to Chad's blog and read more about Dawn's little boy's condition. What a tragedy but neat to think about Dawn's mom meeting him for the first time now that he's in heaven. We'll be praying for Dawn and her family too.

DONNA! Bless their hearts. I hope that you will share this blog with your friend (http://babyleino.blogspot.com/). I know it seems silly to share a blog during a time like this but it is one I've followed from way back and their son had the exact same thing but died much earlier. They are now a year down the road in their grief which could be very helpful for your friend. I have been soooo impressed with their Biblical/Spiritual eyes through which they continue to see their pain. There's also a link to it on "my families to pray for" to the right of my blog. Their name is the Leino's and they live in Clayton (near Smithfield). I will pray for your friend and her family!

Oh my goodness. This is just horrible. I will definitely be praying for them. It's always so hard to see someone you know suffer sush a tragic loss. My heart and prayers go out to them. I will definitely be giving my children an extra hug and kiss today and thank God again for everything he has blessed me with.

I remember praying for this precious child before he was born and I'm so sad about the outcome. I don't think we can truly understand what that family is going through, but what a comfort to know that he is finally whole. I will keep them in my prayers.
