Sunday morning, Caroline decided to play "horse and carriage" with her brother. They apparently are both riding in a carriage and she is holding the reins. I don't think Roy Austin likes being in the back seat.
This picture sums up the weekend for Miss Caroline. She was a WRECK! Talk about being embarrassed. There were a few temper tantrums that were passed, a lot of pouting, a little disobeying going on...basically a Saturday with 2 spankings and 1 time out. It was a bad weekend for her and I was one apologetic mother. Before kids, I used to HATE when parents said "she never acts this way" or "he's just tired. That's why he's acting like this". Well, I can say that those two excuses totally applied to her this weekend, but still....it was/is very embarrassing!
Great view, huh?! Here's a little Graham Family Trivia for you: where did Roy propose to me? DING DING DING!!! In this same yard, April 2001. Seven years later, our daughter is running through it's grass.
Our fearless chihuahua, Maggie, has the life. She eats like a queen all weekend and then sleeps it off on ride home to Charlotte. Excuse the pastey whites. Mama needs to get some serious sun.
Home sweet home. We made it home in time for some playing before bed. Now they're really riding on a horse. Looks like someone finally got to sit up front!

Sounds like fun. I use to sit in that same yellow seat Caroline was playing horse.
Poor kendra! that is all I have to say. Quinn sums it up! Glad you had fun, just think...Disney is on its way!
Are you sure you guys weren't hanging out at a Cracker Barrel all weekend? I swear some of those pictures look like the inside of a Cracker Barrel! :)
I love weekends spent like that, don't you? That picture of Caroline playing in the grass is beautiful - gorgeous view! Now, when you say Daddy Bill is that Kristi Smalley's favorite person in the world you're talking about? Regardless, I want to live where he lives - it's beautiful.
I think I saw silly Willy on a TV show a few days ago. It was about a camp called something like The Lord's Bootcamp - they prepare teens for mission work. Did the Reber girls or the Graham kiddos go there when you were younger? I told Don that I was going to call on Monday and sign Max up for the summer of 2018.
Okay, seriously...could this comment be any longer?
donna, i love the way you write about being a mother. it's very entertaining and honest!
the pictures of caroline are too cute. i started singing, "the hills are alive..." when i saw the one of her running through the grass.
Hi Donna - great post as usual. Interesting bit of Graham trivia you shared...and I love the pics of sweet Caroline and the great view!
Looks like a fun weekend...and you look BEAUTIFUL in the last pic. Hot mama. :)
Oh, the tantrums...they always come when you want your child to be on their best behavior. I always feel like people watch ME to see how I handle the tantrum. Anyone who's ever had kids understands! I feel for moms when I see their kids throwing down in Wal-mart. Those pictures are great. It's so beautiful there. I read a book by Ruth Graham where she described Montreat and it looks just like what I pictured.
Ok, Donna, I gotta be real with ya...I've been on my computer now for 2 hours trying to figure out how you guys get those slideshows on your blog pages. And the music. I've decided to give it up for today, Wesley's losing his marbles.
What a fun weekend! Kendra's kids sure have grown! Love the bit about Caroline acting up. Ahh, the days I have to look forward to. Sarah is just 10 months and already I see little tantrums.
When do you leave for Disney? Are you guys driving down?
I wondered where ya'll were! Glad you had a good weekend. I LOVE me some Mama Jane and CJ looks like a little beauty! Poor Carol. Some days/weeks/months are just like that.Good post, Donna honey!
Sounds like you had a great time this weekend and that were able to relax! :) I totally know your frustration with Caroline. It is amazing how parenthood changes you!
Donna, I LOVED THIS POST!!! Montreat looks like it is the most peaceful place ever. I can just envision you all....sitting in wooden rockers on the front porch, overlooking the scenery while sipping sweet iced tea. LOVE IT!
Jennifer, I am laughing at the Cracker Barrell comment and yes, "PawPaw" is one of my favorite people ever. In fact, last week, I was going through some of my kids school papers and projects from last year and Preston did his first "Big" term paper on....you guessed it...."The Life of Billy Graham". We had to include pictures at the end. If only we had hooked up before, Donna. You could have loaded me up. Actually, I think I am going to get a picture of BG off the Internet and have my head Photoshopped in the picture. I am going to get right on that. (Now, Donna, don't roll your eyes and say, "He is just a man" because we all know the obsessive and hysterical behavior of you and Dolly when Michael Buble entered the building. LOLOL!)
Wanka wanka with the legs Donna! Fun post! Tanks for sharing your fun weekend with us! Love you!
For some reason when I saw the picture of Caroline running through the front yard, it took me straight to a scene from the Sound of Music. Too cute! Sounds like a fun weekend!
Oh to be in Montreat...I love my visits there. I also enjoy that particular front yard...One of my fave. places on this earth. Glad you enjoyed your time. Mama Jane and Pop look great!
Looks like a lovely weekend! The picture of Caroline looking over the fence is a framer.....what a beautiful place as well as child!
Those outdoor shots look so peaceful and beautiful! And, Donna, you looked so nice--I love that you and the fam get nicely dressed for family visits.
