A Night With Mr. Buble'

March 19, 2008--the day I had been waiting and planning for since early December finally arrived!!

The day began with us checking into The Boar's Head Inn. This was the hotel we stayed at the first 2 nights of our marriage, and it was our third visit back since then. We've stayed in the good ol' room of 219 each time:) Roy even arranged for me to get a massage at the hotel spa. Is this boy a keeper or what?!

We decided to meet Dolly and Leland at Hamilton's for dinner before heading on over to the concert. One couple--I won't mention who--was a little on the late side. I think all the excitement from announcing a pregnancy made them forget that Charlottesville is not 30 minutes away from Lynchburg.

After dinner, we made our way on over to the arena only to realize that we were a little overdressed. Naturally, we thought everyone would be all dolled up. I mean we are seeing MICHAEL BUBLE. Apparently only Dolly and I wanted to put on our Sunday Best for Mikey and... I think he likey:

Even Roy and Leland got all spiffed up for him. Our kind of guys!

Okay, now here's where the action begins so buckle your seat belts. I don't even know where to start in describing this concert. The arena was packed--not one empty seat. When the show was about to begin, my hands were getting sweaty and my heart was palpitating. When the curtain came up and Michael appeared singing "I'm Your Man", every girl in the arena went ballistic...including Dolly and me. I actually had butterflies in my stomach.

I'm still not sure why he chose to cover his eyes the entire concert with his aviator glasses. Cool look, but I wanted to look INTO those eyes.

Each song got better and better. At one point Michael told all the men in the audience that he realized that their wives/girlfriends had dragged them to the concert. He said "Guys, I get it. But in 3 hours you'll be smoking a cigarette saying, 'I love Buble!'". I will admit that if Michael paid a visit to my house, he'd be depositing some money into my potty fund (cuss jar). He got a little risque here and there with his mouth, but with a little pleading, I'll forgive him.
I'll have to do a whole slide show later on pictures of MB, because I have many.

When he invited the audience to come dance in the aisles during one of his songs, Dolly and I left our husbands without even a glance back, and took off running to the front of the stage, where we stood within feet of him! The only people that were at the foot of the stage were girls, including his fan club with their Michael Buble t-shirts on. We became teenagers again. Here we were, two happily married girls--ages 28 and 30-- and we were getting majorly giddy over a man who probably doesn't even know what city he's in. He doesn't even know we exist! But we chose to believe that he did and that he was going to look down and notice us at any second. We jumped up and down and waved at him. We took his picture over and over again. We kept looking at each other saying, "can you believe this?' The next thing we knew, he came on over to our corner of the stage. Girls were going wild. We were going wild. Then it happened. I reached my hand out to him and........our.......fingertips......TOUCHED! Yes, you read that right. Donna Graham touched Michael Buble's fingertips! AHHHH! Everything gets a little fuzzy for me at this point, but I wish you could have seen my face when it happened. I think I looked at Dolly with my hands over my mouth and I'm sure there was some jumping up and down going on.

This great shot was taken right before I realized that I would rather touch his hand then get a head on picture. I had to act quickly.
Needless to say, it was an excellent concert. Roy and Leland were very good sports and even agreed that they enjoyed the concert, too. Roy even went as far as to say he'd take me again to see him. This is how we found our studly men after the concert:

See? They did enjoy it!

They even agreed to pose for MORE pictures with us in the lobby.

Thank you Leland and Roy! You made two girls very happy!!

The next morning, Roy and I slept in until 9:oo, ate a nice breakfast and did a little strolling through the historic downtown area of Charlottesville before heading back to my parent's house and back to our reality of 2 children. We had a wonderful trip and made many good memories.

GREAT recap! I was laughing and shaking the whole time I was reading the description of us in front of the stage. I wish my arm was a little longer. I missed his fingers by inches! Oh well...maybe next time we can get back stage. It really was a lot of fun to forget how old you are and act like you're 13 again. Good job! I'll get going on mine now!

FINALLY....I have been anticipating this post!!!! OK, I am laughing so hard at the thought of both of you. Remember in one of my comments, I said not to embarrass your family and run to the front of the stage and grab at his pant leg?????? Well, you actually did it but instead of a pant leg....you got skin!!!! LOL! I bet you were flipping out. Have you washed your hand yet? Maybe you can rub your hand on a piece of fabric and seal it in a ziploc bag to preserve the DNA. It sounds like you had a wonderful time at the concert and Room 219.

Dolly, why in the world were you jumping up and down????? We don't want to shake floating baby loose. Hang on, Little Shaqueeta Seckman, hang on.

Forgot to mention that I love how the pregnant woman is holding M&M's. :)

I KNOW! I noticed that too Jennifer. Nice! I guess the others put their big buckets of popcorn down on the floor for the picture and I held on to my evidence.

That was a great recap, Donna! I'm waiting to see you and Dolly in your fan club T-shirts! I'd be really impressed if you won the guys over and they got t-shirts too. I'm so glad you and Roy got to get away and spend some quality time together and with Dolly and Leland.

Great post! I love the pic of Roy and Leland together in their seats..they even moved over one so they didn't have spaces in between. You girls must have been in the aisles for quite some time. Did you see MB on Rachael Ray's show? He was hilarious! Was he funny at the concert? So glad you enjoyed an awesome weekend with your honey.

I'm so glad you had so much fun! It sounds like you had a blast. What a great time to get away from the kids and enjoy acting so young again! We all need that every once in a while!
