Super Bowl, Smocks and a Roll

Last night the Johnsons had us over to watch Super Bowl XLII. Not only did we celebrate the game, but Mitchell surprised Suzanne with a party to celebrate the big 2-8. Anyone who knows Suzy knows that she adores the color pink. To borrow a quote from Julia Robert's character in Steel Magnolias, "pink is her signuhchuh culluh". So, I made a pink polka dotted cake for her. The pink was a little brighter than I wanted, but oh well. We had a fun time. Thanks, Johsnons and Happy Birthday today, Suzanne!!

The Giant (Mitchell), the Patriot (Suzanne) and their offspring...baby Sarah.

Suzanne and her cake. Roy got her the 3 and 0 candles on her cake as a joke. She didn't appreciate his gesture.

Mr. Chit Chat Baby himself (Rob), Mitchell and Max with all the pizza! (by the way, it's time to register at CCB again for their monthly give-a-way! I've had 3 friends win a stroller so far.)

These kids have known each other since birth and they're still fighting. Roy and Hannah.

No matter where we go or where we are, Hannah and I can always find a computer, much to Max's dismay. He got on to us after a while.
I also got some new smocked dresses for Caroline in the mail over the weekend. As you know, she is beyond the point of obsession over the Disney Princesses. In fact, the other night in the car she informed me that her name is now "Ariel" and not Caroline. I woke her up yesterday morning saying "Princess. Princess Ariel. It's time to wake up" and she rolled over with a huge smile. She was probably thinking that Mommy finally "got it" and realized who she was. Anyway, I found these adorable dresses on Ebay. We are planning a Disney trip in April, so one of these will be the dress she wears when she meets her heroines. By the way, don't you feel sorry for those poor little girls who walk around the Magic Kingdom in the hot heat and those itchy, puffy Princess costumes?!

Dress #1: The Little Mermaid, her FAVE! I'm thinking this will be the winner for the Magic Kingdom. It came with this hideously huge white bow with Ariel and Flounder on it. She insisted on wearing it for the picture. I'm going to have to lose it before the trip.

Dress #2: Peter Pan. She wouldn't take the Ariel one off for a picture. This one if my favorite. It criss-crosses in the back and the smocking is really pretty. Denise, Margaux will get these in 2 years:)

Friday night, Caroline wanted me to hold her. I picked her up and then she said "No, hold me in the baby beeyorn" (yes, she calls it that!). Then she pretended to be a baby and was saying "mama, gaa gaa...goo gooo". So I played it up and treated her like a baby. She LOVED it!

This will be a busy week. We are going to VA to drop the kids off at Grammy and Grandaddy's and then Roy and I are headed to DC for the National Prayer Breakfast. I'm just hoping they'll allow cameras in so I can get some great blog material. Regardless, I am looking forward to some alone time with RA1. We are going to paint the capitol city red! Stay tuned!!! And I will leave you with one more picture of RA2, who accomplished his first roll over last night at the Johnson house! I went in to get him out of the pack and play and he was on his back and screaming! I think it scared him:(

Roy Austin attempting his new trick.

CUTE dresses, Donna; they'll be perfect for Disney! Mary Farrell is going to be very jealous when she sees Caroline's Ariel dress. VERY jealous! Your kids are just too cute. I had to hide our Baby Bjorn as soon as Lilly outgrew it because MF kept wanting to "ride"! Have fun getting ready for DC.

Looks like ya'll had fun at the Johnson's. It was always fun going over to their house for get togethers. They always have the BEST food. It makes me miss ole HPS, Suzanne and hearing Mitchell and Roy banter back and forth. Nice cake too by the way DOnna. It's really cute! I really have to get going on Leland's now.
Happy Birthday Suzanne! It's not her 30th is it?

Good post Donna! Hey, my boss & his wife are going to the National Prayer Breakfast too--they are super excited! I asked them if I could tag along to take notes, but that didn't work out too well. haha :) Oh well. Hope you guys have fun. Love those smocks too!!!

Good post Donna! It looks like you had a great time. Happy Birthday Suzanne.

I loved the dresses for C. I thought you were teasing when you said she wears a dress EVERY DAY. You were serious. She even wears them to Disney when all the other kids have t-shirts and shorts on. Amazing! Is she a girlie-girl or are you just real legalistic about your daughter wearing those wicked slacks? LOL! I hope Olivia is a girlie-girl.

Kristi! LOL! No, I was serious. All she'll wear is dresses. It's funny. We are not legalistic:) Caroline is a very girly-girl. I'm sure Olivia will be, too.

I just saw a Cinderella smocked dress on ebay and thought of you!
I changed my name when I was 2 1/2. Wouldn't answer to my real name at all! It stuck - even 30something years later!

Love the cake! Who knew you girls were so creative!

I cannot wait to hear about the Prayer Breakfast. PLEASE get some good pictures - maybe one of you with your arms wrapped around Barack. I dare you!

Happy bday to Suzanne! But come on, the Patriots????

Love the cock Donna! (Said like Fronk on Father of the Bride.)

You just keep on buying those smocks and sending them my way when you're done.

OK Jennifer, how did you get that cute little picture of you to show up? I need to do that since there are so many Kristi's in this blog family. Of course, I can't even find a picture to post on my own blog. I am ALWAYS the picture taker so I am never in the picture.

I was at two Super Bowl parties last night. Was fun except I am still in depression over my BELOVED DALLAS COWBOYS!!! They should've been there.

I guess Kristi/Kristin is a popular name! Let me give you all the 411:

Kristi (with an i) is my new TX friend.

Kristie is my Charlotte friend

Kristy (with a y) is my sister in law who doesn't comment enough (or ever for that matter!! Get with it Kristy).

There are 2 Kristins...one is my Charlotte friend and one is a friend from high school.

Phewww..that was confusing. Someone spell your name with a "C"!

Donna said...

Oh, I forgot....I do have a friend who spells hers with a C:

Christy is my TN friend.

I was looking at the pics again, RA has more hair than I do. So cute!

Speaking of hair, Donna, your hair looks really good in that picture. Did you pull out the old hot rollers?

Donna said...

haha. No, I pulled out the old curling iron and curled my hair like you did that one time. You know, loose like.

I think I'm getting sick. Roy went to be at 7:15 b/c he felt like he was coming down with something. My throat is now killing me and I'm just hoping I don't get it!!!

Girl, sumthin is going around. Harry Jack is finally feeling better. Dan Dan is sick now. Margaux spit up a little tonight, but I couldn't tell if it was just spit up or throw up.

Just keep washing your hands and use Clorox/Lysol wipes on everything!

Jennifer said...

NO, NO, NO...you can't get sick before the big prayer breakfast! What about Obama and Hillary...who's going to witness to them if you don't go?

Hope you feel better. :(

Denise, I just told you on your blog, but we are in our hotel room and SICK! Roy just left to go visit the steam shower, hoping that will clear out his sinus', etc. I just have a terrible sore throat. It stinks, because I was looking forward to walking around the city tonight. Hopefully we still can. I think Mitchell got us sick b/c he was sick last weekend with a cold, I think!!! I'm just hoping the kids stay well for Mom and Daddy:( Yikes!!
Jennifer, we are still going to the breakfast. The hotel gift shop has a bunch of Obama 08 and Hillary 08 bumper stickers. I told ROy we should buy some and put them on friends' cars as jokes!!

Donna, just reading some of your MANY comments (I can't get people who tell me they read to actually comment...grrr) and I hope you get feeling better, there's nothing worse than being on vacation and getting sick. That pic of Caroline in the BB is TOO funny...I can't believe she can fit into it. You should send it to the company for proof of how well made they are.

Do you have 911-Peggy on your speed dial? She surely has a remedy! SO sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope your recovery is quick!

Ok, I think everyone got sick after the Superbowl!! Mitchell had recovered from his cold. But he came down Monday with something. I heard Max was sick too. Rob called Mitchell and told him he was sick too. I think all those guys riding around in your car was too close quarters for those guys.
