Who's Mommy's Big Boy?!

Imagine me saying the above title with my lips puckered out, and the "who's" sounding more like a "hooozj". Isn't it kind of annoying when people talk this way to their children? I admit, I do a little baby talk with Roy Austin---basically your typical "ahh goo", "la la" and I sing to him and make him laugh--but I don't go overboard. Yesterday, we were picking him up from the church nursery and this lady was picking up her little girl, who was probably around 5-6 months. She started baby-talk-talking to her from the nursery door, in a high pitched voice. The little girl was about 12 feet away from her. "Who's Mommy's Baby? Who's Mommy's Baby?! Oh My Goodness! Yes! Yes, you are!". I just watched and smiled. You'd think she was a first time mom, but she had 2 older kids with her! Calm down, Mom.

Speaking of Mommy's Big Boy, Roy Austin had his 2 month check up today. We are running about three weeks behind schedule due to Christmas and all the traveling. He tipped the scale today at 14.1 pounds! He's a biggin', alright. His poor head is still in the 90th percentile, but at least he has lots of hair to cover it. He was almost asleep when the nurse gave him 2 of his shots and he screamed and cried the loudest I've ever heard him:( Oh, and for all of you mean people in my family and in Roy's who made fun of an innocent little baby boy's umbilical hernia that he could not help (you know who you are), it's starting to go down. The more weight he gains and the bigger his belly gets, it will get better. So don't worry, he won't embarrass you or the family name. He'll outgrow it. Meanies!

I know, buddy. It makes Mommy sad, too. Your family should love you regardless. Don't worry...Mommy loves her little boy. Yes she does! Yes! Oh, my goodness! Who's a big boy? Yes! You are!

Okay, I'll stop. But first, here are some more pictures of some play time we had on Friday night when Daddy came home. Ahhhhhhh, Daddy coming home...one of my favorite times of the day! It means play time in the playroom and alone time for moi!

My Roys. So sweet and peaceful. Great bonding time.

Whoops! This soon ended, when Caroline saw me taking a picture without her! She always tells me that Roy Austin is her baby and she thinks she can soothe him by putting her head right in his face or on top of it. Sr. looks thrilled.

I'm not the meanie because I never commented on Roy Austin's belly button. Honestly, it kinds of scared me to touch it but it's good to know that he'll be growing into it. RA is changing more and more. His face is looking a little older now. What a handsome boy. I'm laughing at "Sr." He does look thrilled!

Basically, Roy Boy has a bulge for a belly button. It's when there is an imperfect closure of the muscles of the abdominal wall. It should dissappear by the time he's 12-18 months. It just looks kind of scary when you first see it and it looks like his belly button will pop open any time! It's getting better though. He can't help it...it's how God made him:)
