What a weekend we had at the Graham residence! My first Roy Boy turned 31 on Sunday so we kicked off the birthday festivities with a party at his office. It was also another employee's birthday that day, so we made it a joint party and I made a camouflaged cake for my hunter. After the party, we got home just in time for Grammy and Grandaddy to come visit for the night! They were at the VT/Duke game and decided to come on down to the Queen City to take Roy out for dinner. So, we met at Firebirds (our fave) and celebrated some more! We decided to take advantage of having family here at the house, so we thought we'd be daring and go see a LATE movie. Now, I'm a little embarrassed about what I'm about to admit, but I'm going to anyway...we went and saw Rambo. I know! We're losers. I thought I'd be nice, though, and let Roy see a guy movie since it was his birthday weekend. Let me just say that I spent more than half of the movie looking away due to the violence--it was disgusting! I think Roy's left hand was about to fall off when we left because I squeezed it so hard out of shock. It was funny to see the variety of people who walked into the theater, because you could tell the other Rambo films were released in their prime of life. One guy even threw his hands up in the air and yelled "YEAH" when Rambo saved the day. Funny.
Okay, so moving along...Roy continued his "camouflaged themed" weekend the next morning with a trip to the local gun show. He said it was filled with rednecks and junk. Hmmmm. Sounds like a place I'd love to go. Actually, it sounds like the perfect place to conduct an amazing blog post. Maybe next time I'll have to tag along with my camera. Cissie, Roy's sister, came in town that night, so we took more advantage of family and let her watch the kids while we went to some friends' house for dinner. Our friends surprised Roy with a birthday cake, too, so we celebrated his 31st even more! The cake was so cute (a golf theme) and it was soooo yummy. On Sunday night--the actual birthday--we planned on having one of Roy's favorite meals for dinner. I had the prime rib marinating for 24 hours, but Roy thought he'd like to try grilling it instead on baking. At 6:00, he realized that the grill wasn't working correctly and we would have to bake it in the oven. At 8:00 it still wasn't done! We lit the candles on the cake so Caroline could eat a piece before bed, sang Happy Birthday, put the kids to bed, I lit some candles on the table and we ate a nice, quiet meal by candle light around 8:30. Healthy, I know.
So, there you have it. Our weekend wrap up in a post, with more details than I'm sure you cared to know about. Isn't your head just spinning from all the birthday-ness? Here are some pictures of our weekend. I'm going to warn you, there are many.

Happy Birthday, Roy! Hope that you rent a good chick flick (quickly) to rebound from Rambo...
Crystal
Donna,
This is Becky Slay from LU. Dolly gave me her blog address (if that's what you call it), and I found you too. I have enjoyed reading your blogs...I guess I'm what ya'll call a lurker?? Anyway I thought I'd finally leave a comment. I have the Jessica Seinfeld cookbook, but have just begun trying the recipes. I made my boys' birthday cake last weekend from there...the yellow cake with the chocolate icing. It was really yummy, although not as fancy as your camo cake for your man. I got nervous for a moment because, before I could taste it, my husband asks me (in front of all of our friends) if I was going to tell them what was in the cake!!! Thank goodness they all liked it. I tried the cauliflower egg recipe this morning, but it was just okay. My sister loved it when she made it, so I may have to try it again before it's a no-go. I have also added some veggies to my own recipes...carrots to my meatloaf and cauliflower to my lasagna. They were both big hits! Score! Looking forward to hearing about more Graham Deceptively Delicious meals!!
I'm glad you were able to take advantage of family and get some kissy time in with your husband - hubba hubba! It sounds like you had a fun-packed weekend. The cake looks yummy...it took me a while to find it!! LOL! The lil' picture of RoyBoy is precious. Happy Birthday Roy...your gift is coming in the mail this week!! (My new years resolution isn't starting off too good...)
Dawn, I'm giving Roy his bday present when they come next weekend. Just a thought.
Becky! Glad you joined us in the blog world. You need to get your own blog and blog about your adorable boys and recipes you make.
Sounds like you had a nice but busy weekend for Roy's bday. Mom and Daddy kept talking about what a nice time they had with the kids.
Your parent's look great! They haven't aged a day and I haven't seen them since your wedding..what a sweet couple. The pic of RA in his bumbo having a nap on the counter is precious..he's still looks like a tiny newborn in that one. Kudos to you for going to see Rambo, Alex is planning a "man's night" to go and see it with his friends, lucky me! What on earth is the appeal there? OH, I thought for a sec that Nancy (my dad's sec. from LU...remember her?) was in the office party picture..but i don't think it's her...is it?

by the way, it was nice seeing all the BGEA'ers in the pictures.
Looks like uch fun was had all weekend!! It was good to see you on Friday. I must say that the party was not the same without DRS, HPS, and Suzy! Y'all were missed!
That was suppose to say much fun! :O)
Hey, Becky Slay! Thanks for saying hi! The recipes are still going strong. We had the sweet potato oatmeal this morning and she loved it. My favorites are the quessadilla and the salsa. It's SOOO good. I'm adding veggies to my own recipes, too. I put spinach in our spaghetti the other night and I put cauliflower in our chicken salad. Nobody could tell:)
Seeing all those BG pics makes me miss all you guys! Mitchell and I thought about you guys. I don't know if Mitchell and Roy ever caught up, but now I see why. What a busy birthday boy!! It is so good you had a night out together too!
Nice post, Donna. I don't know why, but I can never get anyone's slide shows. I'm sure I'm missing a lot. Can you email the pics to me so I can get them that way? BTW, Daddy and I stopped at the Bob Timberlake Gallery on the way home, and then went over to Lexington Barbeque (recommended by the lady at BTG) to eat lunch. The place was packed, and while we were standing in line waiting for a table, a couple of old hunter looking guys in front of us were talking about the gun show. They had just been there. Guess it was a popular event.
WOO HOO..big 31 and ya'll did it up RIGHT!!!!! I tell you what, those BGEA birthday parties are THE BEST...doesn't get any wilder or crazier! How bout them Panthers!??! Speakin of, who's ready for some foooooooootballlll? HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROY! We sure love you, you little booger, you! Hannie and Max
Hi Donna - I am so intrigued by those veggie recipes...I haven't heard of that cookbook before you mentioned it. Ditto the comment about the sweet baby in the bumbo...HOW PRECIOUS!! Happy Birthday Roy!
Thank you Jesus for the new post. I have been MIA for 24 hours and it is so nice to come back to a new post.
I love the pictures. It is always so nice to see pic's of the family. I miss you all so much! Mom and Dad look so happy.
Now, who is Becky Gaddis. Is she related to the "Miss Gaddis" who used to coach cheerleading years ago at LCA?
No sweetie, Becky Gaddis is my friend from Liberty. Her name then was Becky Slay. Read her comment again, she explains who she is. You would recognize her. She lives in Tyler, TX. Becky, correct me if I'm wrong. Her and Kristi should become friends since they both live in TX. Becky sang on Tribute with Rob, Stephanie, Brent and Brett.
First of all, Dolly, you are Jonny on the spot with your comments to my comments. Thanks sweetie! Now, correct me if I am wrong Kristi, but didn't you used to live in Tyler, TX?????
Wow, you girls must be looking at my blog as I type this, because your comments just showed up. Speaking of needing a new post, Denise, why don't you intrigue us today and blog about your lasagnas? Dolly, you need a new one, too. Enough of the Saturday coloring.
Well, I am hoping to post a good one tonight. Stay tuned! Here's a hit, FL primaries!
BTW, Donna, I noticed the major hits to your blog! Wow! On my stats, you are my second biggest referrer. You must be cool or somthting.
Well Donna IS related to Billy Graham himself so why wouldn't she have the most hits? I mean it doesn't get any better than that!
By the way...me no have ideas for new blog. I'll see what I can come up with.
Me again...I'm LOL looking at the pic of Roy in the Executive Boardroom with all his fellow co-workers. That Chris looks just like Steve Catrel (sp?) from the office.
LOL! He DOES look like Steve Carrell! I never thought of that! Perfect picture, too...an office environment. Denise, you are one of my biggest referrers, too. I guess being a pastor's wife will do that to you, huh? Or maybe is was putting your blog address in your Christmas Card that is bringing on the hits.
DOLLY!--that is the FIRST thing i said when i was looking at the slideshow, "hey, when did steve carrell start working at bgea?"
hey, what's all this 'checking your hits' and 'referrers'---someone tell me how to do that??
Joy, go to blogpatrol.com and sign your blog up. You can see how many people look at your blog, etc. Kind of interesting and scary...it shows you what countries are looking at it, too.
by the way, when I go to my blogcounter and sign in, it comes up with the number 0 for everything. Am I missing something?
There should be a place to click on there to tell you how to fix your problem Dolly. When I logged on there last week, I saw a notice for peeps who's stats are reading 0.
Holy Cow--28 comments!! That picture of RA in the Bumbo seat sleeping is so precious. Happy B-day to Roy! All that cake talk has me craving some b-day cake myself!
30 comments and counting......
OK, Since I am the "new" grandaughter to BG, I had to leave a comment. What a good wife you are with the meal, camo cake and all. You can call yourself a Graham and hold your head up high.
Precious pictures of the kids.
Actually, hello Becky. I live in Rockwall. Tyler is about 1 1/2 hours from me. I have family and friends in Tyler. Such a pretty place to live.
Dolly, yep it's Tyler, TX.
Kristi, I must have met you at Greg and Mia's wedding in 2000. I was a bridesmaid. I have been to Rockwall, but don't have friends living their anymore. You're close to Fate, aren't you? What a small world.
Donna, sounds like you do lots of cooking at your house. I hope I feel like doing more after this baby boy is born! Only 10 1/2 weeks to go.
Wow! It IS a small world. ANd Like I said before, it's all connected with Liberty. I just love Jerry Falwell. He brought so many together.
Oh my goodness, what a small world. I DO remember you Becky. I thought you were so pretty.
OK, if the world gets any smaller I don't know what I'm going to do.
Speaking of Mia, she is a lurker on my blog. She has made a comment or two but I haven't yet converted her. They are living in Florida now. Jerry would be so proud of his blogging little champions.
Oh my stars!!! The connections we are making on our blogs. We are a happening group of peeps. I am loling! See I told you Kristi was from Tyler!
Wow. I can't believe how many comments a man's 31st bday can bring. Kristi, isn't there a saying that you are 1 person away from knowing just about everyone in the world? Or maybe I'm thinking of that classic game--the six degrees of Kevin Bacon.
