It's late Saturday night and I finally have a chance to post a blog. Sorry there are no pictures, but Roy's laptop doesn't have the right photo card slot that my camera has, so you'll have to wait until Monday afternoon when I get home to my computer!
What a weekend it has been! Suprisingly, Roy (Sr!) and I slept great on Thursday night. My alarm went off at 4:45 and I even hit snooze once or twice. We left for the hospital in the dark rain and were checked into our observation room around 7. The funny thing is, when I got hooked up to the machines, the nurse informed me that I was having contractions 5 minutes apart! So, I was beginning the early stages of labor on my own! As the 2 hours went by, they got a little closer and stronger. We got the prep talk from the various doctors and then I walked into the operating room, got on the table and then received my spinal. That was the weirdest thing. I instantly lost feeling in my toes and then my legs and the nurses had to lay me back on the table. Everything happened so quickly and people were coming in and doing their various jobs. Roy was finally allowed in once Dr. Stein had begun to cut me open. She did a great job explaining what she was doing as she did it and gave us the one minute warning that our son would be popping out! Roy stood up just in time to see him come out and we heard the sweetest, huskiest cry:) Dr. Stein held him over the curtain so I could see him and he looked so sweet and chubby! Roy got to go watch him get cleaned up and he cut the cord while they put my back together. He said when he looked over, Dr. Stein had my uterus laying on top of my belly! She told me that it was very thin from my contractions I had been having and it's good I went when I did or I could have ruptured. YIKES! We were then in the recovery room for about 1.5 hours untl we got moved to our postpartum room around 12:30. I was glad to get there. It had been a long morning and I just wanted to spend time with my little boy. We got to say hi to my parents before they left to pick up Caroline from preschool. Roy's mom and sister were waiting, too, and so were 2 of my sisters. They all left to give us time alone and to go shopping:)
Roy Austin is the sweetest little thing. I wish I could post some pictures. He has Caroline's coloring but a look all of his own. He has nice black hair and weighs 7.14 and is 19.5 inches long. When Caroline came out, she looked identical to her Daddy--everyone called her Roy-ella. As I was holding Roy Austin yesterday it dawned on me who he looked like...my father in law! It's the nose and the eyes, I think. I told Roy's mom this last night and she agreed! I guess the Graham family just has strong genes. I don't see any Reber in him at all, except the black hair that all of us seem to have at birth. He loves to sleep, though, and basically has been doing that since he was born yesterday morning. He had his special surgery this afternoon and the nurse said he didn't even cry, so that made us proud!
Caroline is doing great! She came in last night and I think I scared her because I was in the bed with my IV hooked up. She came and sat with me in the bed and pointed to Roy Austin and said "RoyBoy". Then she said she wanted to feed him a bottle! She got tons of toys last night and today from visitors, so I don't think she'll have jealousy problem! Roy Austin brought her a Little Einstein doll and she loved that. She came back today and then tonight because she "missed Mommy" and she was very sweet to her brother. I told her that she could have the job of brushing his hair and giving him his passy, and she does it very sweetly. She also brought her brother her toy from Chick-fil-a tonight. I think she likes him!
So, I know I"m leaving out tons of details and information. Comment if I have and I"ll try to answer. When I get home on Monday, I'll post some pictures of our weekend and some of the big guy. We are truly blessed and so happy:)
