A Change of Plans

After a lot of discussion, we have now decided that Caroline and I will not be going to Alaska! I was so sad about it the other day, and a lot of tears were shed (by me!), but it really is the best decision. I spoke to my doctor again the other day and he just didn't like the idea of me being so far away without a hospital nearby. We thought about having Caroline and me fly to Utah to meet Roy and then drive to Calgary and then fly to Anchorage, but that just seemed like too much. The other option was to have us fly from Charlotte to Anchorage but that would have been a 16-18 hour day in the airport/airplane. Caroline is a good girl, but that would have been torture for both of us!! Roy and I felt like we were trying too hard to make it work. It just stinks because we've been planning this trip since late January! It just goes to show that you can't always plan things out the way you would want them! So now he is going to have a friend from college meet him in Utah and then drive the rest of the way to Alaska with him. I think I'm going to paint our living room while he's away to stay busy! I am also going to plan a little vacation for the three of us in August, hopefully, and it won't include a lot of car traveling. I need to get started on that. And I need to get a new title for this blog! I think I'll keep it going at least for my family to hear about our news and see our pictures!!
