The Alaska Saga Continues.....

I woke up at my in-law's house on Saturday morning and came into their den when my father-in-law told me and Caroline to fly up to Alaska with them that morning. I was shocked and told him I had nothing packed for us. All I had was a dress and the skirt and shirt I was wearing. Now, if you know my father-in-law, you know how persistent he is and how he won't take no for an answer. He can intimidate anyone, and this particular morning I was feeling awfully nervous!! He had a comeback for every answer I gave him and he would just stare at me afterwards! He said we could buy clothes at a store once we got there. I answered that I was pregnant and I needed a lot of stuff...shampoo, undergarments, etc. He answered that we could buy all of that. I told him that I would love to go, but it was just bad timing. He said if I really wanted to go, I would! Then he'd say, "well, what's your decision?" UGGHHH! What do you say to all of that?! By this time, it was around 9. He said that if I left their house right then, I could make it home by 11:30, pack and make it back to the airport by 1:30, their departure time.
If you know me, you know that I am a planner. I like things planned and organized. I didn't know what to do at this moment! I finally decided to be spontaneous for once in my life. Plus, I knew that Roy would be happy if we were up there. So, I left Caroline in Boone, booked it to Charlotte (I made it from their front door to ours in 2 hours---which is extremely fast), threw stuff in bags for me and Caroline, grabbed my bills, and left for the airport 1.5 hours away. By the time I got there, I was shaking from all the running around. I was happy to get on the plane and just sit! We suprised Roy and didn't tell him we left until we landed in Alaska. He is very happy and can't wait to get here now:)
So, here we are three days later. I'm sitting in their kitchen (with a computer!!), it is brisk and beautiful outside with a gorgeous view of huge mountains and a beautiful lake. It is very relaxing and a very special treat to be here. Caroline doesn't realize how fortunate she is!!!
Oh, yeah, and our lucky dog, Maggie, made the journey, too! I think Alaska agrees with her, but I have to watch out for eagles! I'll post more pictures later of the beautiful scenery here. Roy and Wes should get here tomorrow sometime. I heard from them last night and they were in Alberta, Canada. They've already broken down 3 times! I'm sorry I missed out on that road trip.
Caroline and Gramps arriving in Alaska!

Caroline loves her movies! She watched Dumbo and Nemo, of course.

She finally hit a wall and was out! She was exhausted!
