Christmas in the Queen City!

This weekend was a first December weekend in years that I can remember us being home with no real plan. I love weekends like that--especially at Christmas time--so we decided to make Saturday a fun family Christmas weekend in Charlotte. We decided to check into this place to get the weekend started....

Just kidding:) We did go there, but not to sleep. For the past few years, my friend Jessica has talked about the life sized gingerbread house that the Ritz displays each year. So, we decided to go see it. It is all hand made and 100% organic (in case that impresses you):

The minute we stepped into the lobby, we could smell the yummy gingerbread scent. The kids thought it was pretty cool!

Charlotte loved just being along for the ride. She enjoys a good stroller outing.

Jessica also visits the singing Bears each year at Founders Hall with her children, so we walked right over to see them, too, after seeing the gingerbread house. The kids LOVED this part:

Lynchburgers, think RiverRidge Mall Bears x 10. This is a full orchestra of bears including
a bear trio: Caroline and RoyBoy stood against the fence for a good 30 minutes just watching the show.

This sweet girl loved the music and clapped along. I'm not talking about the girl in the heels, either. She was headed to the Nutcracker that was playing in the same building:)

Saturday was a chilly and overcast day. When we left uptown I mentioned that hot chocolate would be nice. So, we drove on over to the Billy Graham Library (because we seem to always end up there) and enjoyed some hot chocolate and some gingerbread men:

RoyBoy loves their chocolate covered peppermint sticks they give out to stir the hot chocolate:

Charlotte inhaled more than half of my gingerbread man:

She loved it:

Roy Austin was so excited the he got to skip his nap that day, but on the way to Sam's he fell asleep. He slept the entire time we were in Sam's (in a stroller) and then when we got home at 6, I just put him right to bed. He didn't get up until 6:15 this morning! I guess almost 14 hours of sleep is a sign that we had fun:)

Love all your Christmas updates. All three Decembers we have lived in the Queen City we have ventured uptown for the Gingerbread House viewing, bears, walking around to see all the lights and end it with dinner at Jason's Deli. The boys love it and it is so fun to have traditions.

Good post and fun weekend. Maybe next year we can join you for some of the fun festivities that go on there.
