A Special House Guest

Last week we brought our sweet niece, Maddie, home from Virginia with us. This has been the second summer that she has come to visit us alone and we love it!! I think this is now a summer tradition:) It gives us a chance to spend time with and spoil her, but at the same time, she helps me out a lot, too! I was able to do so many things alone this week because of her help and I loved it! Denise, you raised this girl right. She saw a mess and cleaned it up, stripped her bed the day she was leaving and took her dirty towels out of the bathroom. She bathed my children for me, helped brush their teeth and even helped with bedtime! Man, I wish she lived in Charlotte! I can only hope that my girls are like her one day!

Speaking of my girls, I think this one had the most fun with her big cousin this past week:

Every day Caroline would plan her outfits around what Maddie was going to wear...even her pajamas! When we were going to see Cars2 the other night, Caroline ran upstairs quickly and then came down with her skinny jeans rolled up and a shirt on the same color as Maddie's. Roy and I looked at each other and laughed a little. The funny thing is, she knew to roll the jeans and they actually looked cool! And Maddie did Caroline's hair each day, too. I'm going to have to purchase a new hair straightener now because we have seen how good Caroline's hair looks when it's straightened:)


She had her hair in a side pony tail this week, a few braids, pulled back with a tiny braid to the side, so many hair styles and she loved every minute of it:)

This girl loved Maddie, too. It's so funny to see her with my baby like this, because that is exactly what I was like with her--couldn't get enough!

Maddie, you are welcome here any time. We all love you so much and think you hung the moon. I'm so glad our children have you for a role model! Keep it up:)
