A Fun Fourth

Our July 4th was spent in Virginia and started with a family photo shoot on Saturday. Pictures to come, but I have to say....there is NOTHING more stressful to me than taking family pictures. It's the same scenario every single time. I have an image in my mind of how the pictures will look: the kids are smiling (at the same time) and looking in the right direction (at the same time), our family looks so happy and carefree. Nobody is crying, there are no threats being given through gritted teath by me or Roy, no squeezing of upper arms while giving those threats, there is no need to promise ice cream or cake or any kind of candy they want to choose at the gas station. None of that. Too bad each time, this is our reality:) Can't wait to see how everything turned out! Here are some random pictures of our fast weekend. Sunday night we went to the mall parking lot in Lynchburg to watch the fireworks over Liberty Mountain. We all had a fun time together just hanging out together:

That night we had Michael spend the night with us at Grammy and Grandaddy's house. It was the boys' first sleepover together and it was hilarious. It started with them making a huge mess with styrofoam peanuts in the basement and then Michael laying in the big boy bed wide awake until 1AM!! He had never been in a big boy bed before and I think he was a little nervous!
The next morning, Daddy made his pancakes for us and included his special peaches. These things are so good and bring back many memories from my childhood....it's just peaches and sugar, but the way he concocts them are a party in your mouth (that was for you, HPS)!

My two oldest neices, RoyBoy and I made cupcakes for our 4th of July party and then headed on to the Logans for lunch and then on to the Seckmans for swimming and games:

I can't believe another year has passed. It seems like just a few months ago we were celebrating the 4th of July in 2010! And I can't belive that it's already July 6th...slow down, summer!!

I'm laughing at the pics of us at the RiverRidge Mall parking lot! Can you say redneck? haha!
I love the pics of Roy Austin and Michael too. What sweet memories and I'm sorry you had to stay up until 1:00 am with him until he went to sleep. You're a good auntie.

It was fun having you all home again and I'm with you...I can't believe another 4th has come and gone.
