Maddie has been the BIGGEST help to me this week. She has entertained my kids, dressed them, placed them and taken them out of their carseats, held their hands in the parking lots....the list goes on! I could seriously enjoy having a nanny:) We have had some fun this week, too. We went to see Uncle Roy at his office for lunch, and afterwards went to the Airport Overlook to watch planes take off and land. This is such a cool place to visit, but it was extremely hot outside:
Maddie spent one morning making cookies and she took great pleasure in it. She made a bunch of different frostings and decorated each one with lots of care (I also caught her eating a lot of them and a few spoonfuls of icing!!!)
We have visited Claires, Old Navy, Target and tomorrow we are going to Sweet and Sassy to find that perfect souvenir for her to take home. She just can't seem to make up her mind! Tonight we went to Sports Connection, where she and Uncle Roy played Laser Tag and then we jumped on the inflatables:
Wow, being with an 11 year old brings back so many memories for me. She is so sweet and has been a joy to have around this week. We have all enjoyed having her here, and I think one little girl especially will be sad that we take her home tomorrow. I think I'll take Maddie for 1 week each summer from now on!

Amen and Amen! My mom probably said 50 times today, "That sweet child!" Maddie is sooooo polite and talks like a little adult. My FAVORITE thing she said today was when she was talking about a girl from Florida that is going to Liberty next year and she said, "She's just a great girl and loves the Lord with all her heart." She sounded like a 25 year old! It was so sweet. Way to train em up, Logans. Welll done! She's a keeper!
PS LOVE the kool kats. RA2 is a trip!
Nice pictures, Donna. I especially like those Kool Kats! Little Roy looks like he wears them all the time and it's no big thing. Who was it who always called sunglasses kool kats? Was it you? I'm so glad you had such a nice time with Maddie. We all missed her here. Can't wait to see you ALL tomorrow.
I KNOW Maddie is having a great time at Auntie Donna's house. It's nice of you to have have her for a week but I agree, we are missing seeing her here now. can't wait for ya'll to get here today. I sure hope you found your perfect souvenir for her to take home. I know how hard a decision it can be for an 11 year old. hahah!
By the way, I'm surprised ya'll didn't visit "Justice" while she's there. Isn't that her favorite store?
HPS! LOL!!! She told me the same thing about that girl from LU. Maddie's so sweet:)
Dolly, she would kill you for saying that about Justice. We were at Blakeney the other night and she looked over and saw the Justice store and said "Oh, great...now you're going to make fun of me, aren't you? Go ahead and say it." I looked up and just busted out lauhing and of course I said, "WOOOOOHOOOO! Justice!".
OK, Denise can send Maddie over my way after you bring her home. I need a nanny! I bet you have loved having her around.
love the Kool Kats! I am headed to Old Navy today. I have 305 off coupon that will be nice on top of the 50% off!
Awww,I love Maddie!! She and my Madison would be besties for sure.
What a sweet, fun visitor! The extra hands are always helpful! I LOVE it when Anna helps me (and it comes second nature to help, like with Maddie I am sure!)
Looks like a fun week!
I will be in Lynchburg the weekend of September 10- ish. We are going out for the Youth Alive reunion and then staying until that next Wednesday. Will you be in town anytime around then???? I already e mailed Nikki, Dolly and Denise...I can't wait to meet in real life!!!! Hope you will be around then too.....
The kool kats are too cute on the kids! Love Caroline's pose. Wish I would have known when you were here for lunch; would have been good to see you. :) And I wish that my nephew could have met Maddie when he was here......he is 12 and is a very sweet young man. I think they could have hit it off. ;o) Glad you've had some help this week and all have had a great time.
I bet her mom is missing her! It is nice to have some help round the house isn't it? I know she has had fun and Caroline has loved having Maddy around. Give Caroline and Roy and kiss for me.....I haven't seen for them forever! Love you and miss you.
Donna, I'm sad...I normally get your posts through email and I haven't gotten any so just assumed you weren't posting. Of course, now that I think about it, I've been so slack on commenting that you probably took me off the list. Or maybe you're jealous because I really do have a night nanny...Maddie ain't got nothin on Susan! HA HA
I'm only able to hit a blog or two every now and then so I've had some catching up to do. It sounds like you're probably in Lynchburg this weekend - hope you're having a great time! That Maddie does sound like a good girl...maybe Denise could do a parenting class at our next blogunion???
I can't believe how big RA is getting...that child was a baby when I first "met" him and now he looks 8. Stop growing up Roy Austin!
Hope you guys are doing well and maybe one day I'll be back in blogland on a regular basis!
I'll bet that week made Maddie feel SO good too. I hope she read your post. She'll remember that forever. Like when she's older, she'll say..."I used to stay with auntie Donna for a week, it was the best part of my summer!"
cute sunglasses too..where'd you come up with the name kool kats? cute.
OK, what is this blog posts to email thing Jenny girl talked about? Am I missing something? How do you do that b/c nobody reads my blog much anymore. Tutor me, Oh Blog GURU!
Now that little Maddie is one sweet girl. I'm sure she was a blessing to all of you. Denise, you and Danny did good!!!
Love those glasses! Having a big girl around is great. lexy helps me out so much. I don't know what I would do without her. Looks like y'all had fun!
Love the sunglasses. I thought I posted a comment earlier, but was having computer issues (again) so it didn't get published.
