"Chil----dren....".(Said Slowly)

Last night, I introduced the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to Caroline. Big mistake. Not because of what you might think. Now, as a child I really enjoyed this movie. I remember pretending to be Truly Scrumptious because she was so pretty and her dresses were so gorgeous, BUT I was TERRIFIED (an understatement) of the creepy Child Catcher in the movie. When it was time for his parts in the movie, I would get so scarred and I would cover my eyes and just shake. I can still hear his voice in my head to this day as he slowly bends over to look in the basement window at the kids while he calls, "Chil----dren....Lollipops!". Oooo! Creepy. Sadly, Caroline wasn't scarred of him at all!

Okay, so back to the story...the big mistake of showing her this movie is that she loves it now and wants to watch it all the time. I didn't realize that this movie is so long! I fast forwarded so many parts last night and it was still long. And the majority of the movie is pretty much on the boring side. Does anyone remember that boring scene with Grandpa and the old men at the castle?? However, I was suprised how many of the songs I still knew, and I think Roy was impressed.

So, after seeing the Child Catcher last night, I couldn't help but notice a similarity between him and another modern day "child catcher":

See the resemblance? They both scare me.

hahahah! I read the first couple sentences of this post and knew where you were going with it. I can still hear that creepy voice too! Why to they always have to have a bad guy in children's movies? I was scared to death of his face too AND the jokers face on batman! hahaha.

Funny resemblance between the two chid catchers.

Wow, Donna, you're absolutely right!! What a memory you have...you're a bit like Rosie O'Donnell. I said A BIT, in that she knows all that movie trivia, songs, etc. You're NOT like her in any other way!!! Anyway, it's funny that little Caroline is so like you...loving old movies, songs, etc. You're teaching her well. It's funny that she's not afraid of that child catcher, too. She's not afraid of the witch and monkeys in Wizard, either, is she? You have a brave one there.

You are funny. That is how I feel about Mrs. Gulch on the Wizard of Oz. She scared me way more than the witch ever did - especially when she rode that bike through the tornado. Sorry to hear about your visit to the ER, too. What a weekend!

That was one of my favs as a child and I can remember how terrified I was of the child catcher. It didn't even scare my kids either. They loved it and we watched it non stop for weeks. :) ET scared them more than any movie and we couldn't ever watch it again! Another one of my favs..

That is so funny, Donna! I'm just catching up on your posts and I've missed way too much! Roy Boy was SO CUTE in that hospital gown - the crying picture was so pitiful! I'm glad he is going to be okay...I'm sure you were a nervous wreak. Looks like a FUN weekend with the girls (and kids)last weekend and great finds.

Well you've done a good job making Caroline secure in herself if THAT didn't scare her. My goodness. I never saw that actor in ANYTHING else and it made me wonder if it was "acting" or if he really was a bad guy.

Your mom's comment is cracking me up! You and Rosie...2 peas in a pod I tell ya. 2 peas in a pod!

The Child Catcher and MJ both scare me...that Caroline is one tough cookie! Glad RA is doing well and that he wasn't too phased by the ER visit.

I love that movie. But I am laughing so hard at your mom saying that you are a bit like Rosie O'Donnell...but just a little bit.
