Our Weekend

Sorry I've been MIA lately. It hasn't been intentional, just a busy time of year:) This was a fun and productive weekend. It started out with some members of our Sunday school class (plus some tag-a-longs) going to Operation Christmas Child to volunteer processing shoeboxes on Friday night:

Hannah really enjoyed packing those shoeboxes into the larger boxes. She also made a new friend that night--her packing buddy, Richard.

Dawn and I worked together sorting through the boxes and taping. When you do shoeboxes, the time flies by!

This girl earned her pay that night. Meg took her job seriously...packing the boxes and scanning the bar codes. No time for play, this girl was SERIOUS!

Rob, Roy, Max and Jake enjoyed fitting in some rubber band fights into their jobs.

My parents came down for the weekend to help with the kids. Mom and Daddy treated us for lunch at their club on Saturday. Yes, my parents belong to a club...Sam's Club, that is. They even allowed for us to become members under their elite membership! So now, I can call Roy and tell him to "meet us at the club for dinner" some nights. We're in!! (by the way, I don't know what Roy is doing in this picture?).

Saturday afternoon, Caroline and I watched as we studied how to make Mom's famous Sugar Nuts. I think I got some new tips on how to duplicate her way of making them. Caroline was so excited and really was a good help.

Saturday night, we all went to the Billy Graham Library. Let's just say that I have NEVER seen the Library with that many people in it! To say it was packed would be an understatement. The carriage line was over a 2-hour wait! We had a great time, though, and it was so nice to see that many people enjoying the place.

After church on Sunday, my parents stayed home with the kids while Roy and I went shopping. Roy was a good sport and helped me pick out some great gifts. I am happy to report that as of last night, December 14th, my Christmas shopping is D-O-N-E!! The agenda for this week is to bake, go to parties, and enjoy the season!!

Have a good week, everyone!!

You're really on the ball, Donna. We just left you a little while ago, and I'm sitting here in the truck reading your newest blog post already. We had a great time with you this weekend. We loved taking care of your two little angels while you and Roy went shopping and did OCC. Can't wait for you all to come home this weekend.

Seriously Donna, can't you pull rank and get to the front of the carriage line? "Excuse me, excuse me...my last name is Graham." :)

I'm so impressed that your shopping is done...way to go! I'm not there this year, but in years past when I would finish early it would be so nice to be able to relax and just enjoy the holidays.

When is everyone heading up to your parents house? Can't wait to hear and see pictures!

Have a great week!

The Library was packed Sat. night. We were there too! My niece Caroline participated in the Tea and the rest of my family went through the tour. We also got to pet the animals before the tea and then saw the Nativity afterwards. Did you wait in the carriage line? We didn't....had to get back for my Dad's surprise 60th party! :O)

Donna, we as a family love doing the Operation Christmas Child boxes. I so wish I could have to opportunity to work in the warehouse where they go out. Something about that is always been so touching to me. I am glad you got your shopping done, now say a little pray for me, I only 2 more days to finish until my children are out of school!

I want to go to the BGL so bad! It looks beautiful. I am glad to see there were no scary monkeys this time!

Did you go through your OCC training? Every time I go I get pulled by some volunteer who insist I am breaking rules! haha

I feel the same. I love this time of year, but almost every night/day there is somewhere to go, something to do. I am just trying to fit everything it! Hate I missed OCC. I love OCC...maybe next year.

What wonderful parents you have to keep your kiddos so you could participate in all the activities of the weekend and finish your shopping. And the "club" to boot. You are all such high-rollers, I am intimidated to leave a comment.

I agree with Jennifer about pulling rank. You have to use your last name sometime, ya know.

Oh be quiet.........my shopping isn't finished yet, my house is torn to pieces and all "my girls" are no where to be seen!!!! Donna why don't you move in with your "sweet" mother in law and take care of everything? I think that would be awesome. You get more done in an hour than I do all day....Love you and see you soon.

What a fun weekend! Donna, you are always on the ball! I love the picture of Roy @ Southpark...hilarious. I'm proud of him for going and for being a good sport! Joshua and I always have to have a "talk" before going Christmas shopping. He hates shopping more than ANYTHING and so as much as I love him, I tell him I would rather leave him @ home if he plans to be miserable all day! ha Loved your Christmas card, by the way!

You're lucky with being done with your shopping. Somehow I alway get my big shopping done quite early and then I relax thinking all my shopping is done until I realize that the little stuff still has to be done. Why I do that every year, I don't know.

You have an inside track to those nuts! I wonder if they taste the same on other nuts like cashews or something??? Either way, they really are yummy!
