We are home from the beach! We were supposed to come home today, but with Fay's sudden turn heading towards our location, we decided to leave a day early. We had a great time doing nothing but relaxing and being lazy. Once again, there are a lot of pictures in this post, but you can't expect two bloggers to go on vacation together and not allow for plenty of photo ops.
We took off early Saturday morning in the big bus. This bus is the perfect vehicle for traveling! The only challenge was trying to keep this little guy still. He sat up front with the guys for a few minutes. Apparently something was really funny at the time this picture was taken. Maybe they were just excited to be going on vacation?
Do you know how nice it is to be able to drive down the interstate while your child sleeps in his pack and play? It was wonderful! It also acted as a cage to contain him. This boy is SO active.
We got in late that night, but the next morning we hit the beach. Caroline loved knowing she was in Ariel's territory. She chased the seagulls (or Scuttle) around the beach. At one point we saw her take off after a seagull saying, "Excuse me, Scuttle!".

Poor Caroline was so exhausted that she fell asleep in the chair after her bath.
The next day we decided to do the pool instead of the beach. We all had a fun time lounging around.

That night, Dolly and I coaxed the guys away from the Olympics to play UNO with us. When we were growing up, my sisters and I thought "playing cards" meant playing UNO. We didn't know what poker was, BUT if you gave us a deck of UNO cards, we could play some serious game. It's still true.

LeRoy had fun pal-ing around together. They did so much. They went grocery shopping, grilled together...
...LeRoy cooked breakfast together....
...they even shared a bag of popcorn together! May your relationship last a lifetime, guys.

Roy Austin took the shore by storm. Our baby crawled everywhere...towards the water, through sand castles, across sand pits. In this picture, he went face first into the sand and didn't like the results.
That night we all went out to the beach before dinner to take some pictures. A big thank you to LeRoy for humoring their wives, and cooperating. They were getting hungry, annoyed and the flies were out biting ankles that night. But hey, we got some good shots:

Roy Austin and I got to spend a little QT together in the water.
It was way past Roy Austin's nap, but he was a trooper. He actually fell asleep a few times in this float, but I couldn't get my camera fast enough to catch those shots.
He finally had enough, so we headed back to the house.
After baths and after putting Roy Austin to sleep, look who zonked out while reading books with Daddy?
Maybe we should brush up on our skills. Leland was the proud champion of the night.
These two had fun playing together all week. Nothing thrills Caroline more than having a brother to boss around.
On Dolly's birthday, we ventured into the little town of Appalachicola and visited a little beauty parlor for a pedicure. This place was like the beauty parlor on Steel Magnolias....accents and all!
Ginger, the beautician, actually did a great job. We loved talking with her and hearing all she had to say, and boy did she have a lot to say!
She even gave Roy Austin a much needed hair cut and it turned out the best he's ever had. It took me and his daddy to hold him down for Ginger.
For Dolly's birthday, we went to her favorite restaurant on the island...The Owl's Nest. It was very good! Another event that occurred this week was the realization of a duo. You know how the media has made one name out of famous couples? Like Brangelina, TomKat, Bennifer? Well, Ladies and Gents, I am pleased to present to you, LeRoy!!
Okay, back to the beach. We spent another entire afternoon on the beach enjoying the sun and sand.

There are so many more pictures from our photo shoot, but I'm sure Dolly will post some and I know you are all getting a little blurry eyed from this post. They all turned out cute, though. The next morning, we decided to pack up and head on home one day early. Fay is supposed to head right over St. George Island and the Appalachicola area tonight. It was a long day yesterday for the boys, but we in the back of the bus thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Here is Leland eating his burrito before he drives 10 hours straight. He didn't take one break! Not even a bathroom break! He is made of steel. Dolly is being a good wife and giving her man a little massage and a pep talk:

Welcome home!!! You gave me quite a scare this morning when you said it was black outside and the wind was blowing badly and the guys were apprehansive about driving over the bridge to the mainland. I just knew you were going to be locked in by the storm and the island be flooded. Then when you told me you were in your own house and had arrived home during the night, I felt so much better. Stinker!!! The blog is wonderful and the pictures are soooo good. Little Roy Boy looks darling with his new haircut. He's getting so big. Caroline looks like she had a wonderful time, too. I'm really so glad you all got to do this together. LeRoy had some bonding time and I'm glad they were good sports about everything you girls wanted to do. Dolly and Leland should be driving into the burg any time now. Vacation 2008 is over and school starts for little Miss Caroline now. Happy days are here again!!
Love all the fabulous photos! My favorite has to be LeRoy and the popcorn. HILARIOUS!!
I love the picturs! My fav is the one of you with RA in the air! How precious. Glad you guys had a great time! :)
Good job, Donna. This was a great post. I'm glad you got some good beach time in before the storm blew in. I know you all had fun. I rolled at the LeRoy comment. Did they make a B/F/F this week??? DId they give each other pedicures while you both were gone? How sweet. You two could always be Donlly or Dollna.
Speaking of pedicures. Be careful, Dolly. My doctor said pedicures can trigger contractions. Something about the pressure points on the feet.
How about Darna....since Dolly's real name is Darla?
Welcome Home! Your pictures/post made your trip look like so much fun! I'm cracking up at the LeRoy pics.
Aren't pedicures the best?
I didn't think you'd be back today - I'm calling you!
Great Post Donna! I knew you wouldn't disappoint on the recap. It was fun to read and I was LOL at the LeRoy pics. Especially the last one with Leroy sharing their popcorn. I'm still laughing.
We had a great time with you guys and will have to do it again sometime. Thanks for bringing your JF camera for those great shots on the beach. And thanks for all the meals Roy insisted on buying. Have a great weekend recouping.
LOL @ LeRoy. Something tells me you girls were reading a surplus of People's and US Mags on this trip! That beach shot of the ya'll kissing while the kids look on :) needs to be your new blog pic!!! Very picturesque. I'm glad ya'll made it home and we missed you at the picnic. Now, we just need to schedule a playdate!
First of all, shocker that RA1 let RA2 ride up front WITHOUT a carseat! Pretty risky Leroy's!
Love the post and all the pictures. You did a great job recapping, as always!
Donna, that is SO wrong calling them LeRoy (although funny)! I don't think any guys want to get stuck with couple names like that.
I loved the pic of Roy and Leland sharing a bag of popcorn. lol and what great beach pics. We are for sure doing some beach pics in a few weeks ourselves. Yours turned out so good! and Roy Austin and Caroline both look just beautiful. You have such a beautiful family!
Fabulous recap!! The pictures of the families on the beach turned out grea-definitely some framers!! And LOL about LeRoy. :O)
First off, Denise, Roy was not too happy about holding RA2 upfront. I needed a break, though, because that kid was EVERYWHERE! Roy said we were irresponsible parents doing that, but the kid loved it!
Tiger Dave, PLEASE don't tease Roy about the LeRoy thing. When we took the pic of LeRoy by the suburban, he said "Donna, Don't put this on your blog!". Oops!
Donna - great post! Fun to read and I am laughing out loud at LeRoy...very clever. Glad you guys had so much fun!! Looks like a great time!
Good pictures and stories Donna. I think those pj's that Caroline was wearing with the Eiffel Towers on them have made it through all the little girls. Good times, good times!
Dayna, those are Caroline's favorite pajamas! Dolly told her that Denise made them and she said "oh really?! She made them for me?" Yes, and Maddie, Grayson and Janna:)
Good recap Darna! I tell you what, that Jenuis doesn't miss a beat, does she? She's on it!
I was wondering about carseat rules in a RV. Are there any?
Caroline looks so beautiful in that picture where she's asleep! So sweet. And RA doesn't disappoint us with his pictures either...so cute! The picture of him crying looks like you just said "ooooohhhhhh" to him! :)
Leland didn't take ONE bathroom break in 10 hours??? Even after eating a burrito??? :)
Glad you guys had a good time...have a great week!
Welcome home, Donna! Loved the pics and the recap...you and Dolly had me laughing the whole time. :)
