I Love You So Much, It Hurts.

What a day. It's only 12:15 and it's already been crazy. First of all, it is one of my favorite kind of days. We woke up to pouring rain here in Charlotte. It is the kind of day where you have to turn the lights on in your house and you just want to put some comfy clothes on and drink warm drinks. Well, we were getting ready to go to Caroline's swim class and my sweet boy decided to climb the stairs after me as I ran upstairs to get something really quick. As I was coming out of the play room, I saw him sitting on the floor right at the stair way and before I could get him, he fell backwards...right down the staircase. It was awful! I keep seeing it play out in my head and I tear up each time! Bless his heart. I was shaking, he was whimpering. I didn't know if I should take him to the hospital or what! I did a quick body check, got onto myself for what a terrible mother I was to leave him alone and then prayed and prayed for his little body. He is okay, thank Jesus, and back to his normal self.

So, then we rushed to the swim class and I had to unload the kids from their car seats, get a stroller out and a big swim bag in a monsoon! I'm not kidding. When I got inside, we were drenched! After that, we had to run a few errands--again, in the downpour. By the time I got to Target, I didn't care. My head was soaked. We looked like we just stepped out of the shower.

While we were in Michael's looking for some baby shower ideas for Dolly, Caroline decided to bite her brother's arm. We still can't understand what made her do it. I guess she just really loves him. As if he hadn't been through enough hardship this morning, now he has this nice display of his sister's affection:

He instantly started crying and I got down on my knees and gave Caroline the "Shame on you! When we get in the car, you are getting a spanking!" talk. The rest of the time in the store she kept hugging my leg and saying "I sorry Mommy. I bit RoyBoy. RoyBoy, I sorry". It's funny how kids think by saying I'm sorry, it's all okay.

Let me also add here that Roy Austin, Roy and I all have poison ivy! Roy and I get PI very easily and Saturday we were pulling weeds and got it some how, although we don't remember seeing it! I went in to get Roy Austin up from his nap and Sunday we noticed it on his legs! I guess it was on my clothes and his little body came in contact with it. Again, am I "Mom of the Year" or what?!

So, we are home now. Lunch has been had and nap time is right around the corner. It's still raining and I have a pot of coffee brewing. Roy Austin is okay. Here he is at lunch, wet head, bruise on his forehead, poison ivy, bite mark and all:

***Update added at 6:30 pm****

To add to the chaos of the day, Caroline came to me a while ago and calmy said "Mommy, will you take this off?" I did not know what she was talking about. I thought she meant her arm sling. I kept telling her I didn't understand, but then she pointed to her nose. I got on my knees and looked up and saw something black in her nose. I pulled with two of my fingernails and yanked this out:

What is that? It's the speaker to my Skype headset. It was stuffed way up her nose, too. This reminds me of a post I did back in December. Bedtime is 1.5 hours away:)

Oh, the trials of a mother!!! So sorry all that happened to you this morning. Truth is, though, you are probably more hurt than either of the children. Little Caroline probably bit Roy just because she loves him so much, and she wasn't trying to be mean. And as far as Roy falling down the stairs...it will probably be one of many times to come. Don't be too hard on yourself. Thank God he wasn't hurt. Now for the rest of the day, why don't you just stay home and be cozy in your nice dry house. Hopefully we'll get some of your rain in a few hours. We're waiting! Take care, take a deep breath, and relax now that the children are in bed. ILY

Donna, LOL. To top it all of, I called you probably in the middle of all of that. The phone ringing sets my nerves OVER the edge when I'm in the midst of stress. I'm sorry it's been a bad morning.

So..I'm on the edge of my seat. Did mommy follow through and did Carol REALLY get her spanking? Poison Ivy must've looked very tasty to her!

I'm definitely in my sweats. It's a cozy one alright!

Hope you have a quiet, relaxing afternoon!

By the time we got into the car, it was pouring rain and there was a lady sitting in the car right next to me. I didn't want to have to bend over the front seat to swat her thigh (when what I wanted to swat was her bottom) and I didn't want some random lady seeing me spank her and think I was an abusive mother. Plus it was about 20 min. after the fact. So I put her in her carseat while she was saying "Mommy, please don't spank me" and I looked at her very sternly while I held her face in my hands and said, "If you EVER bite your brother or anyone else again, I will spank your bottom so fast. I am so dissapointed in you. What you did was very ugly and mean". I hope that did it:)

You old softy!!!! You should have torn her little rear end up and said, "You are going to get it worse next time"!!! J/K

I am so sorry your day was so traumatic but I couldn't help but laugh. When it rains, it pours (No pun intended)

You could always bake a rum cake and get sloshed. LOL!

Awwww,Donna, I feel your pain! It reminded me of when our Julie was Roy Austin's age and she was in her walker w/ wheels and we were on our front porch. I was sweeping and she was walking around in it and started going right for the steps. I was across the porch and immediately saw the front wheel go over the step and couldn't catch her. It was like slow-motion in my brain seeing her spill over. I was shaking worse than she was ---she ended up being fine, too, with just a little scrape to her nose. But I felt horrible, too. I promise you, this day will pass, and there will be others. You're a great mom!

What a day, Donna! If it makes you feel any better I was a horrible biter as a child. I was the child that NO ONE wanted their child to be in church nursery with because I bit so hard and so often!

And look how nicely I turned out!

Sorry about the fall - don't you wish you could erase some things from your memory? It's awful to relive and replay.

YIKES! What were you thinking allowing Roy Boy to climb up the stairs only to tumble all the way back down again. JUST KIDDING! I'm glad he's alright!

I cannot believe that bite mark AND that Caroline had that black thing stuffed up her nose.

Donna...tell Caroline way to go on the PERFECTLY shaped bite mark! :)

Wow - what a day, what a day...sorry. Poor little RA...tell him that his Aunt Jennifer is going to bring him down here to live with me for awhile. Of course, I'm the mother of a child who fell down the stairs and got 6 stitches. Come to think of it...maybe RA is better off with his parents. :)

We were getting the same rain as you guys and I too had to be out in it when all I wanted to do was stay home and eat.

Just think of it this way...today sure gave you an entertaining blog post!

Donna, it is so funny that you posted about this sad day for you and RA. I had one of those days with Margaux yesterday too.

The first time she got hurt (she slipped and fell flat on her face on the tile floor) I think the very depths of my heart poured out in tears for her and every other child in the world that gets hurt and has no mommy or daddy to love them and make it better. Crazy???? I think it is prego hormones. I was seriously praying for the "little ones" that Jesus loves all over the world and asking Him to hug them tightly and keep them safe. Margaux's little cry was so sad and sweet that it just got to me.

Then there were a few more other hurts that happened to her too--some Harry Jack induced in which he was quickly grabbed up and spanked (we happened to be home).

By the end of the night Margaux fell off our bed and hit the foot board, which a gash on her chin and on the inside of her mouth. You know the wounds the bleed and bleed and you think, "should we go to the ER?"

She is fine today. Sorry you had a bad day today. I wuv you!

Sorry for your rough day! When Josh was a toddler he kept coloring on the walls and my mom took away all the crayons but he still colored whenever she wasn't around. After a few days she was changing his diaper and saw something in his nose. It was a red crayon. He was hiding it up in his nose for days and taking it out to color. He was only two!

Holy Cow--what a day! Poor little Roy Boy. I used to leave teeth prints on my brother too. I'm sure RA will hold his own soon enough. Hope today is much better for you all!

Whew! What a day! It seems like those days last so long too! My heart ached to read about Roy's fall. We too have stairs and when the littles ones fall it is like your watching them go in slow motion unable to stop them. Then your mind plays it over and over and goes through all the "worsts" that could have happened. Thank God he is okay and that today is a new day... hopefully a little less eventful:)!

Wow, what a day!! Hopefully today is going better for you. You are one awesome mom, Donna and better days are ahead. :O)
LOL at Caroline sticking that up her nose! My brother stuck a pebble up his nose when he was little and had to go to the ER to get it out. When asked how it happened, he said that he was just smelling it and it fell in! LOL!

I am so happy I am not the only one with days (and children) like this post describes!

About a year ago my daughter Lindsay(in her defence, she IS the one with "special needs" ) had a runny nose for about a week, but it was only one nostril...so being the seasoned ear infection mom I am I diagnosed her with some kind of nostril infection and even called the ENT doctor to get an appointment. When we got there, I described her symptoms and told him of my diagnosis (he has been Lindsays ENT ever since the ear tubes when she was a baby..she is 10) so, he knows that I KNOW my stuff!!
He asked of she would have put anything up her nose and I, of course, said "No, if she had she would have told me, because one time she swallowed a hair clip..and was choking, so I pulled over (we were in the car, of COURSE!) I opened her door and she was fine by then, she just said " I swawoed my cwip" I searched the car floor area and said out of frustration..where is it? She calmly answered "it's in my tummy now" (DUH!) It WAS, we saw it in the x ray, and it "came to pass" the next day! (I did disinfect it and save it for her scrapbook..I know, SICK-O)
Anyway, after my story of how she would TOTALLY tell me if she put something in her nose, while Lindsay was sitting on my lap, the Dr. looks up her nose (to see the infection of course) and takes these long tweezer things and pulls out part of a popsicle stick..and you could read part of the riddle on it...it was a little less tha 1/2 a stick!!!

G R O S S !!! (I know when she did it too..being the smart Mom that I am ...I give them popsicles in the bathtub...no messes!!)

So, Donna, don't feel bad...we ALL have those less than perfect Mom moments...but our children love us anyway (just like God does!)
Hope the rest of your week is PERFECT and you find some extra coupons!!

donna, i just scrolled down to see what i had missed while i've been in my "beginning of the school year" fog and i'm lol! my favorite part is that you said, "i guess she just really loves him." poor little guy. i mean, either his mom is acting like a ghost or his sister is biting him!
