Cinderella Man

Last night, Caroline was watching Cinderella while she calmed down for the evening. As the movie came to an end, Roy and I found ourselves on the couch watching it with her. I've seen this movie thousands of times and can literally quote the entire thing, but Roy, however, acted as if he'd never seen it before. Maybe it's his jet-lag, I don't know, but this movie really affected him. This is the actual conversation shared between the two of us as we watched:

Roy: So what happens in Cinderella two? (says while eyes are glued to the movie)

Me: Anastastia becomes nice.

Roy: That's all? There has to be a story line.

Me: That's it. She becomes nice and falls in love with the palace butler or something. I think he gets a spell cast on him and he becomes a cat, though.

Roy: She falls in love with a cat?

Me: No, the butler gets turned into a cat. I don't know! I haven't seen it in a while. Something like that. I can't remember.

Roy: Well, what happens in Cinderella three?

Me: They go back in time and Cinderella isn't the princess.

Roy: Cinderella doesn't want to be a princess?

Me: I don't know, Roy! I'll rent you the movies tomorrow and you can watch them.

-------------------------------------a few minutes later------------------------------

Roy: So in Cinderella two and three, does the step-mother ever become nice? (eyes still glued)

Me: (looking at him and laughing in disbelief) Someone is reallllllllllllllllly interested in these movies!

Roy: Is Lucifer (the cat) in the other movies?

Me: I don't know. I think.

-----------------------------------a few minutes later----------------------------------------

Roy: Huh. So are there excerpts from Cinderella two and three on this DVD?

Me: (laughing)

Roy: (looks away from the movie and then at me as if to say, "what?")

-------------------------------a few minutes later, during the last scene------------------------
(the scene where the Duke is trying the glass slipper on the step-sisters' feet and Cinderella come running down the stairs, saying "wait!")

Roy: (dead serious) You know, they (step-sisters/step-mother) wouldn't have anything if it weren't for Cinderella.

Me: ROY! (laughing, again) You are making me laugh! You're acting like this is a real movie or something!

I think today I may be running to Blockbuster to rent Cinderella II and III for my husband, so he can catch up on his fairy tales.

Donna, that is soooo funny! See, he's just a little boy at heart. Most men are!! I think the Reber husbands have had to learn about all kinds of movies....and endure the movies we all love to watch. That's a good thing, though. You'll have to let us all know how he liked II and III.

That's funny. You painted the scenerio perfectly and I can just hear Roy saying all of that.

Okay, since I have boys I am so out of the loop on the movies and need to do a study on all the princesses.

Hilarious!!! I love the part where he looked at you after he asked his question. We have been through all those movies here. It's been a while though since anyone has wanted to pull them out. I think I'm going to start ebaying movies!

If you have Cindy 2 and 3 I'll buy them from you. Last night Roy wanted to know if there was a Beauty and the BEast 2 or 3. I told him there was a Christmas story involving Beauty and the Beast and he then wanted to know what that storyline was about. He was serious.

I am rolling!!!!! Maybe Roy wasn't allowed to watch Disney much growing up and he has an unmet need. Maybe that explains the interest. You need to get a babysitter one night and have a marathon Disney movie night for Roy, just the two of you.

Does Roy know this is on your blog? Mike would MURDER me. LOL!

No, he doesn't. I almost told him last night, but then I know he'd get mad. Yikes! People at BG who read this, PLEASE don't tease him!!!!
