You know that part in the movie, Sweet Home Alabama, where the characters go to that town dance? You know, it's in the middle of the streets of the town, "down home" people everywhere and dancing with their sweethearts? Well, we experienced this first hand last night in the good 'ol town of Belmont, NC. This town is the stomping grounds of our friends, Mitchell and Suzanne Johnson and it's about 15 minutes south of Charlotte. Mitchell manages a BB&T bank there and the bank was sponsoring Belmont's Friday Night Concert Series. The band of the hour? General Johnson and the Chairmen of the Board. I had never heard of them but I was quickly reminded by my friend, Hannah, to not let Jane hear me say that. Apparently she is a fan and I can see why! I could totally picture her and her siblings shagging away to the music last night. I think it must run in the family, because Caroline LOVED them, too!
Carolina Girls with our Carolina Girls (and little boy).
Can't you just imagine that movie in this picture? These people were serious dancers.
Caroline enjoyed her cupcake from the local bakery. She only ate the icing.
General Johnson, himself.
Me and my little shagger. I kept asking her if she wanted to go back and sit with Daddy and she said no and kept pointing to the General.
When we finally did go see Daddy, this is what we found.
And for our weekend project, we are painting/organizing our crazy garage. It's embarrassing how much junk we have, but this is the real us:)
We are going with the color on the right. Stay tuned for after pictures. It may take a while!!

Grrrreeeeat recap and WAY to give a visual for your readers. You sure have a way of relating an experience to something that people will know exactly what you mean.
LOL at your weekend project b/c when I saw "our weekend project" and the stars and stripes at a glance, I thought you were decorating your house for Memorial Day.
PS-and LOL at Roy's face about the creepy man. Also, send me the mullet pic Roy took.
Whoooo, you and Hannie sure love to talk about Carolina girls! hahaha! This DOES look like a scene off of "Sweet Home Alabama". Did any of you guys shag? I would have loved to see pics of you guys out there. At least attempting to shag. Especially Mitchell and Suzanne! That would be funny to see.
Have fun working on your garage. It actually doesn't look that bad. You should get it knocked out in no time.
Looks like you had a wonderful time with all the people, and most of all, with friends! I'm so glad for you....for all of you. Keep doing things together and have fun. I loved the pictures, too. The one of little Roy sleeping is precious. He's getting soooo big. Caroline looked like she was having a great time as well. Miss you all.
GOOD POST! What a wonderful outing in the cool breeze while hanging with friends. How fun! RA doesn't even look like a baby with that hair. He looks like a little shrunken 10 year old. So cute!
I want to know why you didn't get one of the husbands to take a picture of you all dancing because we all know you were.
When I lived in Boone, a friend and I went to some sort of shag dancing lessons or event of some sort. Ummmmm ... yeah ... we were the youngest people there by far! LOL! It was pretty fun, though!
Now Donna, I thought I let you down about high school musical, but you call yourself a Southern Girl and don't know Chairman of the Board? We will let that one slide.
Anyways, looked like you had fun. Corey and I would have loved to have been there to do some shagging!
Oh and the creepy guy with the white shirt, was he sporting jean shorts? He must have taken them from Corey's closet!
I thought you were doing a Memorial Day decor too. Funny. And, yes, RA2 looks so grown up!
BTW, in the pix of you and Carol dancing, you look like Dawn.
That looked so fun and so Southern too! I love downhome fun like that. All the kids looked so cute.
LOVE the music, recap and details. I am impressed that you are painting your garage...you are an inspiration!
Have a super weekend. I need to get back to packing and stop looking at blogs and facebook...naughty Caroline (me not your Caroline :)
Wow! That looks like fun! We have a concert series like that here, too, but I've only gone a couple of times. Once Huey Lewis was there and I got backstage passes! I felt so cool! That's crazy about your sister Denise!
What a fun night you guys had! Me love a little southern music and shagging!
I can't believe how big Roy Austin looks! LOL at Roy and Creepy Guy picture...funny. :)
BTW, Max and I were talking at dinner tonight and he said you don't have enough house projects to do when you've decided to paint the inside of your garage. :)
I know, I know. But the house being built next to us had a painted garage and it was all organized and looked SO nice. Big improvement.
This southern carolina girl LOVES Chairmen of the Board!! They are really fun in the summer time for nights like this......shagging the night away under the stars. :O) Glad y'all had fun! Caroline knows the good part to eat of cupcakes...icing...yum!
Hilarious that you've never heard of them...esp a song like that ;-) Sounds like a fun Friday night, those are the best...relaxing with family and friends outside in the summer!! You put me to shame with painting your garage...my husband's list is too long, hehe. I'm sure it will look gorgeous, you got syle!!
