Weekend Wrap Up

Saturday night, we went to a birthday party for sweet little Jack Poplin. He turned 2 and celebrated it in style at My Gym. This is the perfect place for a kids birthday party! There were babies, 1, 2 and 3 year-olds everywhere and they all had a blast--Even the parents had fun. Below are some pictures from our weekend. Oh, the toilet shot has a story to it: We were wrapping Jack's birthday gift and I accidentally tore the paper so I had to redo it. Well, I told Caroline to go throw the paper in the trash. She would take a little bit of it at a time and go into the bathroom. Roy and I could hear her ripping paper into shreds with each trip. We thought it was so cute. Then I went in to check on her and she had been throwing the shredded paper into the toilet! I guess she thought it was a new kind of toilet paper I had bought. So I had to fish each piece out!

The party pictures are courtesy of the Ezells and the Evettes. Thanks, girls, for sending these to me! You both know how to work that camera! I had left mine in Roy Austin's room....I know, I'm a blog loser!

Sunday night we returned to our old stomping grounds in Charlotte to visit one of our favorite and higly missed stores: THE FRESH MARKET! We used to live a mile from this place and we would visit it very often. Shopping there is always a fun experience. They have the best food...especially their meats. We had fun browsing the aisles and buying our favorite odds and ends for dinner and special treats.

Ahhhh, The Fresh Market! I love you. I miss you. Sniff.

Roy knew what I was doing with my camera so he purposely chose to turn his back on me when I non-chalantly aimed my camera in his direction. He was bagging some good, fresh green beans. Way to be a team player, Roy. Way to be a team player.

Poor Roy! Looks like fun weekend. Like the trash can story. Carol puts trash in your toilet, Harry knocks over my hot tea into the desk top key board. Sounds like a good weekend to me!

Hi aunt Donna. It's Maddie. Your post on THE FRESH MARKET, reminded me
that I wrote a story(for school)about you.

Every time I would go visit you, we would always go to the fresh market together so that I could get a crusaunt, gummy bears and some
root beer (and we got uncle Roy his monkey bread). I can't wait to see you in the summer! ILY

Jenny loves The Fresh Market too! Your first steps into the place is an experience in itself...ahhh the wonderful smells!

LOVE the toilet story...I would love to know what actually goes through kid's minds when they're doing these things!

Have a great week!

Whoa Maddie! Getting to be a blogger. Sounds like a fun weekend, but I don't know how the kids recognized Caroline at the party without a dress on, since that is how the parents know her! Caroline is getting to be such a big girl, I can't believe it!

Dolly- It did turn cold! I think the high yesterday was 47 degrees! Where is spring?
Donna- looks like a fun weekend. Fresh Market, Yummy!

by the way...I have something to admit about the Fresh Market. Kind of embarrasing but here it goes...When I lived in Charlotte, I would pass this exact Fresh Market on the way home from work everyday. On some of those days where I had an extra LONG day and needed a pick me up, I would stop in and buy their Chocolate covered pretzels filled with Peanut Butter. YUMMY! My roomate Christy would always laugh when she saw them sitting on the counter at home. They were the BEST!!

What is the Fresh Market? Is it a healthy food place? Sounds like fun.

Okay, I just read Maddie's comment about the gummy bears and rootbeer...are those healthy gummy bears?

Donna, give us some health tips...don't keep it all to yourself. I can tell your the health conscious mom, like your sister Dolly....give us some of those "gluten free" recipes.

ah, yes. Fresh Market. We have that here in Richmond and I love it! It's a bit pricey, but you do get what you pay for! I love their bakery selection also! They are currenlty building a Whole Foods grocery store about 5 miles away from our Fresh Market, so it will be interesting to see those two compete!

The Fresh Market is like an upscale grocery store. They carry fine foods and they have a WONDERFUL bakery. They play classical piano music while you shop and you feel like you're in an English market or something! Roy loves it b/c they sell this DELICIOUS bacon there. He used to stop there on his way home from work to buy bacon for Sat. morning. It is just a really good store. Look on their website for one near you. Denise, they're building one in Sarasota right now.

Maddie! I was so happy to see you commented! I was telling Uncle Roy last night that I used to love bringing you there to get your croissants and root bear:) Now I'm bringing Caroline. She got some pink jelly beans last night and some pink covered pretzels!

Cissie, yes. Caroline was dress-less Saturday night. I had to do it. I couldn't watch her suffer while climbing around in a dress. She still looked cute, though, right?!

Oh, Dolly. It was a freezing cold weekend and today the high is going to be 47 I think? It's raining and overcast as we speak.

I heard about the Fresh Market they are building. I may have to add that to my Super Target trips when I go to Sarasota!

BTW, Maddie is SO proud of her comment!

I love The Fresh Market too! They have some good desserts and meats.

We have a Central Market. I wonder if it is similar to the Fresh Market. That is where I have to go to when I am on my health-kick whim or doing a detox or something like that and need all organic fresh veggies.

Donna, please post some gluten-free recipes. That is ideally how I should eat but everything I have ever made tasted like cardboard. Health food is usually just YUK so if I find a recipe that someone has tried and actually liked, I jump on it.

Cissie, I was going to comment on the pants on Caroline but you beat me to it. I noticed that immediately. Poor little repressed Caroline. She probably felt so free to be able to play and not have to worry if her panties were showing. I bet her little legs are chapped from the harsh winter elements hitting her bare legs all winter. Ha! Ha! (I'm kidding Donna)

HEY MADDIE!!!!!!! I was so excited to see her comment! You big girl, you!

Don Don, I bet it won't be long before they build a FM out your way. I too miss having it right next to me in the Essex! Waaaahhhh.

I'm LOL thinking about coming home to the choc. covered peanut butter pretzels on the counter...haha. I love it!! Dolly would try to act like she couldn't eat any more and then give the rest of them to me. :) We could seriously put those things away. I LOVE the Fresh Market...I have one right near my house and it always makes me think of you & Dol. :) Looks like a fun weekend Donna and I agree, Caroline is getting SO big. She's a beauty for sure. :)

UGH! Pregnant and so teary these days...thank you so much for the sweet post about Jack's birthday party. It means so much.
Just for the record, I told Donna to dress Caroline casually. I didn't want a smocked Peter Pan and Wendy to get all wrinkled and tattered at My Gym...the jeans are my fault, but even in jeans, she is a sweet little lady.
Thank you for such a thoughtful post, Donna. We loved having your family there. It was a fun night and the Grahams made it much more special for Jack. You've been there since the beginning, and I love you for it.

Aw, Elizabeth! That was sweet! It was a F-U-N party. Don't worry about the dress thing. The girls like to tease me about C always being in a dress. Just trying to raise a little lady, people.
